MILLS, CLIFFORD O., Age 74 of Romulus. Born September 4, 1925 in Soak Creek, West Virginia. Mr. Mills was a WWII Veteran. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Missouri. He worked as a coal miner in Black Eagle, W.Virginia after being discharged from the Navy. He moved to Michigan in 1953 and resided in the Plymouth-Canton area. He had resided in Romulus since 1966. He worked at the GM Spring and Bumper Plant in Livonia as a truck driver for 33 years before retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of the Wayne County Coon Club in Romulus. He is preceded in death by his parents James A. and Minta A. (Minnie) Mills, sister Margie Cupp, and son Charles O. Mills. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Marie (Reed) Mills; daughters Melanie L. Haendel of Westland and Laura A. Mills of New Boston; brother Wallace A. (Margaret) Mills of Mullens, W.Virginia; and sister Beryl Jacqueline Smith of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Shaun C., Megan J. and Kyle G. Haendel of Westland. STEVENS, MARIE VITALE NICHOLSON Died Friday at home in Colorado after a long illness. She was 90. Born August 2, 1909 in Detroit, MI, Marie was Valedictorian of the St. Benedict s High School Class of 1926. After attending Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, MI, she earned her degree from Wayne State University and began her 34- year teaching career with the Detroit Public Schools, retiring from the Edgar A. Guest School. She was married to Mark A. Nicholson, who predeceased her in 1977, and to Charles L. Stevens, who died in 1990. Her life was enhanced by her love of music, dancing, gardening and an active participation in the Lathrup Village and Farmington Seniors Clubs. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen McLean of Colorado and Ann Marie Plantz of Ohio; one son, Thomas Nicholson of New York; and eight loving grandchildren. WALSH, JAMES W., age 67 of Gladwin formerly of Dearborn passed away Fri. Jan 21 at the Mid Michigan Medical Center-Gladwin. He was born May 24, 1932 in Portland Oregon to Willidell & Beybel Ivy. James was a vetran of WWII, he worked as a truck driver for A & R Freight Systems. He married Vivian Cates on Oct. 11 1956 in Reno Nevada. They moved to Gladwin in June of 1999 from Dearborn and are members of The Gladwin Assembly of God Church. Surviving is his wife Vivian, one son Michael & Eileen Walsh of Beaverton, one daughter Kathryn & John Downs of San Pedro, Calif., one brother Bill Walsh and two sisters, Betty Patchen and Susan Foley all of Calif. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Gladwin Assembly of God Church. Rev. Donald Potter will officiate and burial will be in Highland cemetery, Gladwin. Friends may call at the Sisson Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Sun and 2-8 p.m. Mon. and at church from 10 a.m. until time of Service. Memorials may be made to the Good News Gang Metro.
