JONES, JENKIN., Jenkin Jones of Metamora, Michigan passed away peacefully among family on March 9, 2002 at age 70. Beloved husband and father, he is survived by Judith his wife of 45 years and sons Ronald (Nina) Jones, Eric Jones, and daughters Michelle Jones, Cheryl (Donald) Palmer, and Judy (Greg) Scholl. Loving grandfather to Christi, Stacey, Stephanie, Derek, Clayton, and Colton. Son Steven preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the auto industry in 1998. THORPE, ROYCE "BUD", Age 78, of Fife Lake, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Munson Medical Center. Bud was born May 7, 1923, in Pontiac, the son of Roy E. and Mable A. (Silverthorn) Thorpe. Bud served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He lived in the Detroit area and summered in the Fife Lake area for the last 40 years, prior to moving to the area permanently in 1981. He was employed by the Marathon Oil Company in Detroit, retiring in 1981. Bud was a member of the Fife Lake American Legion Post #217, a charter member and past president of the Walton Junction Sportsman s Club and was also very active in the Fife Lake Ridge Runners Club, grooming trails for the club. He married Phyllis Merrill on August 16, 1980, in Manton. Bud is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thorpe of Fife Lake, his son, Royce C. Thorpe of Dallas, Ore., and his two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. No services are planned at this time.
