ORANGE - Ruth L. (Spee) Orange, age 85, of Cutlerville, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 27, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Al Spee and James Orange, and her son, Mike Spee. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ellis; granddaughter, Polly (Nick) Madalinski; stepchildren, Kathy Kuiphof, Jack (Vicki) Orange, Nancy (Eric) Homan; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Russ (Bernice) Marcusse; sister, Arlene (Don) Wierenga; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Herm) Stukkie, Marian (Paul) Kremers, Eleanor (Larry) Boersma, Betty Anema, "Rick" Spee, Jean Spee; brother-in-law, Gerald (Ethelyn) Orange; many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends on Friday, August 31, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Brookside Christian Reformed Church, 3600 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with Rev. VEKERKE - Our deeply loved son, Connor Verkerke, age 9, of Kentwood, was taken from us unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2014. He was a student at Excel Charter Academy, a member of Cub Scout Pack 3373 in Comstock Park, played soccer, and loved to dance and sing. Connor will be deeply missed by his parents, Dani and Jared; his brothers, Kameron (7), Riley (5), Morgan (3); his grandparents, Nana, Sue (Potts) and Grandpa Tim Fiebig, Bill Verkerke; and many other people who loved him. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, from 10:30 to 11:30 am with a memorial service following at 11:30 am at Cornerstone Church, 1675 84th St. SE, with Dr. Bradley P. Kalajainen officiating.

Alfred Vogel, age 83, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 23, 2015. Al was born on August 30, 1931 in Fremont, MI to Peter and Nellie Vogel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; brothers, Abe, Andy, Ernie, and John; and his sister, Elaine Bruxvoort. Al will be lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren, Mark Vogel, Renae and Pat Kindle (Jeanie), Kim and Tom Geyer (Kylene, Morgan, and Levi), Matt and Deb Vogel (Andrew, Rachel, and Jacob); his sisters, Irene VanderWal, Cora Vogel, Julia Vogel, Esther Meeuwenberg; brother-in-law, Ralph Bruxvoort; numerous nieces and nephews. Al was a carpenter by trade and loved his work. He was a life long member of Fifth Reformed Church, and a Korean War veteran. His kind and gentle manner will be missed by many. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 28, at Fifth Reformed Church, 2012 Griggs SE, with Pastor Brian Telzerow officiating. Interment in Dutton cemetery. Aubrey K. Douglass, age 83, of rural Camden, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio in Bryan, Ohio. He was born December 1, 1920 to Nelson and Carma (Reeves) Douglass. He married Velma (Balis) Taylor on October 26, 1963 in Waldron, Michigan and she preceded him in death on December 18, 1994. He then married Lila Lusk and she survives.
Aubrey was a life long farmer of Amboy Township, graduate of Waldron High School Class of 1937, U.S. Army Veteran serving in Italy during WWII, member of Pioneer Nazarene Church and past member of Wright Township Mens Chorus.
Surviving Aubrey besides his wife, Lila of Hudson are four step-children, Clyde (Ann) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Roger Taylor of Stockport, Ohio,
Kay (James) Stewart of West Unity, Ohio and Denise (Doyle) Miller of Jasper, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Thelma (Bernard) Hugg of Bryan, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Velma and two brothers, Donald and Lynn.
Funeral services for Aubrey Douglass will be Monday, March 29, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Pioneer Nazarene Church with Pastor Mike Dunson and Pastor Wayne Sweely officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.

Larena Carpenter, 86, of Cavender Street, Canandaigua passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008, at home. She was born on July 10, 1921, in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Pearly & Mabel (Wyse) Pike. On August 8, 1942, in Montpelier, Ohio, she married William Carpenter and he survives.
Larena was a homemaker living in Canandaigua since 1974. She attended the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church.
Besides her husband, William, Larena is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Carpenter of Dallas Center, Iowa, Joan Wheeler of Morenci, Janice (Michael) Snedeker of Jackson, and Florence "Jean" (James) Karabinus of Swanton, Ohio; four sons, Robert (Clarice) Carpenter of Peru, Indiana, Ronold (Cynthia) Carpenter of Hudson, Richard Carpenter of Morenci, and Denzel (Pamela) Carpenter of Morenci; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Faye Carpenter of West Unity, Ohio, Ruth Vaughan of Miami, Florida and Donna Fike of Adrian; and three brothers, Lowell and Wayne Pike of West Unity, Ohio and Delmer Pike of Wauseon, Ohio.
Larena was preceded in death by her parents and three half sisters, Flora, Hazel and Bernice.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church west of Wauseon on Alternate 20 with Brother Fred Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith cemetery north of Pettisville, Ohio. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 6-8 PM and on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee County.

John S. "Jack" Newcomb, age 75, of Jonesville, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2004, at his home. He was born May 9, 1928 in Chicago, his parents were Peter & Dorothy Lugiai.
Jack was the former owner of Grill's Hardware in Jonesville, a former employee of Jonesville Lumber and retired in 1994 from Hillsdale Tool. He was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church, a member and treasurer of the Jonesville Happy Seniors, a mentor at the school and did an abundance of volunteer work.
He was married January 17, 1947 to Nila Miller and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Trish (Harry) Krummrey of Kalkaska, Alicia (Brad) Yeagley of Plainwell, Susan Lanius of Jonesville and Amy (Michael) Stoll of Hillsdale; a son, Scott (Deb) Newcomb of Adrian; 13 grandchildren, Kelli Schulz, Jodi Nye, Anissa, Andy and Erin Lanius, Adam and Emily Yeagley, Philip, Lauren and Levi Stoll, Anna, Rane and Kegan Newcomb; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers also survive.
Cremation has taken place, memorial services for Jack Newcomb will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., at the Jonesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Sunset View cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.

John E. Burress, age 58, of S. Main St., Waldron, Michigan passed away Monday, January 12, 2004 at Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born June 3, 1945 in Peekskill, New York to John Thomas and Alice (Whalen) Burress. He married Margy Eidenier on June 4, 1969 in Mason, Michigan and she survives.
John lived in the Waldron area most of his life He was previously the Chief of Police in Waldron, a Hillsdale County Sheriff's Deputy and was currently
serving on Waldron Village Council. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, fishing and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.
Surviving John besides his wife, Margy, of Waldron are three children, Arlo Burress, Leo (Rachelle) Burress and Keri Burress all of Waldron; his mother, Alice Burress of Alabama; three grandchildren, Margaret, George and John; one sister, Alice Danielli of Alabama; and one brother, Patrick Burress of Florida. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Thomas Burress.
Funeral services for John Burress will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Eagle Funeral Home in Waldron with Rev. Rick Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at Waldron cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Leslie F. "Sam" Seeley, age 88, of Waldron, passed away Friday, January 30, 2004, at Hillsdale Medical Care Facility. He was born July 2, 1915 in Waldron to Samuel and Edith (Denning) Seeley. He married Mabel I. Robison on May 15, 1940 in Bryan, Ohio and she preceded him in death on August 9, 1997.
Sam worked for Allied Products in Hillsdale for 23 years, and he retired from Waldron Industries in 1978. He was a lifelong Waldron area resident and farmer. He was a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, Knights of Pythians, and a graduate of Waldron High School in 1933. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Surviving Sam are his twin daughters, Charlene Gambler of Bryan, Ohio and Arlene (Walter) Boyer of Montpelier, Ohio; one son, Larry Seeley of Angola, IN; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mabel; four brothers, Adam, Royal, Burton and LeRoy Seeley, and one sister Nellie Lambright.
Funeral services for Leslie "Sam" Seeley will be Tuesday, January 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Waldron. Interment will follow in Waldron cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2004 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Franklin E. Wheeler, age 65, of West Unity, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004, at the Community Hospitals of Williams County, Montpelier, Ohio. Franklin was born December 24, 1938 to Franky & Opal Jay Wheeler.
Franklin served in the Korean Conflict and received the Marksman Medal.
Surviving are daughters, Tami (Danie) Payne of West Unity, Ohio, Barb (Larry) Horst of Archbold, Ohio, Jodi Wheeler of Morenci, Michigan, Amy Mock and Lori (Raymond) Yoder, both of Archbold; a son, Frank B. Wheeler of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, William "Bill" (Debbie) Wheeler of Montpelier, Ohio; a sister, Mary (John) Grime of Archbold; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Franklin Wheeler will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Pastor Don Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Union cemetery in Fayette. The visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
