Aaron L. Fales, 25, of Owosso, formerly of Hillsdale passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at Memorial Health Care in Owosso. He was born March 23, 1983 in Kalamazoo to Edwin & Catherine (Fales) Schilling.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Edwin & Kathy Schilling; his fiancé, Holly Kuchar; two sisters, Ruth (Jim Duty) Schilling and Tammy (Patrick) Campbell both of Hillsdale; three brothers, Jay and Spencer Schilling, Douglas (Anne) Preston II all of Hillsdale; his Grandmother Mavis Schilling of Hillsdale; his fiance’s parents Randy (Arlene) Kuchar and fiance’s brother Travis Kuchar; three aunts, two uncles and two nephews, Eli & Owen.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

Funeral services for Aaron L. Fales will be Friday, April 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Don Harkey officiating. Interment will follow at Willits cemetery in Cambria Twp. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.

Glema M. Lewis

BRADENTON, Fla. - Glema M. Lewis, 70, of Bradenton, Fla. died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000.
A memorial service will be held Sept. 16, 2000 at the Silver Lake cemetery in Wolverine. Mrs. Lewis was born in Coldwater on March 25, 1930 to George and Margaret Woods. She is survived by husband Eugene E. Lewis, one daughter Gina (Lewis) Kreis, one grandson Derek Archer of Quincy, and two sisters Shirley Sussex of Coldwater and St. Cloud, Fla. and Dorothy Waterman of Bradenton, Fla. and Wolverine. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Coldwater Eagles Auxiliary 1907 for over 30 years, and the Quincy American Legion #157. On Sept. 14, 2000, flowers may be sent to: Gina Kreis, 60 W. Chicago St., Quincy, Mich. 49082. BRONSON Ð Graveside Memorial Services for Dr. Ronald E. Hover will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at the South Gilead cemetery in Gilead Township. Maximilian "Max" Adamski

BRONSON - Maximilian "Max" Adamski, age 83, of Bronson died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past several months.
Mr. Adamski was born Oct. 12, 1917 in Bronson to Frank and Anna (Wotta) Adamski and was a lifelong Bronson resident. He married Marguerite Walter on March 15, 1947 in LaGrange, Ind. Max had worked at the former Bronson Reel Company, Bronson Specialties and Bronson Plating Company. He retired as a machinist from Bronson Products at the age of 65. He was proud to be a World War II Army Veteran where he served as Technical Corporal in England, Africa, Sicily and Italy. He earned a total of five battle stars and was awarded the Legion of Merit by General Omar Bradley "for exceptional meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services in North Africa and Italy." He was also awarded the Military Valor Cross by the Italian Government. He was a member of the American Legion in Colon and a life member of the VFW Post 5003 in Bronson. Max loved his children and spending time at his "20 acres." Surviving are his wife Marguerite; daughters and sons-in-law Melody and Jeff Rumsey of Port Charlotte, Fla., Karna and Doug Perkins of Howe, Ind., and Dawn and Keith Merkle of Colon; daughters P.J. Stauffer of Bronson and Starr Adamski of Coldwater; his son Leonard Adamski of Bronson; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his brother Tommy Adamski of Bronson; and sisters Isabel Wortelman of Wichita, Kansas and Stella Kregger of Bronson. He was preceded in death by a daughter Penne Sue (Adamski) Gloor in May, 2000, and his brother Marion Adamski. Funeral services celebrating the life of Max Adamski will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2000 at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Rev. Ron Hyre of Calvary Christian Church, Howe, Ind. officiating. Interment will follow in Matteson Township cemetery. Mr. Kimble was born Jan. 2, 1909 in Branch County to Arthur and Nellie (D'Water) Kimble. Mr. Kimble was a farmer. He was a lifelong resident of Branch County. For the past 20 years he had spent the winter months in Sebring, Fla. He was a member of U.C.T. of Coldwater. He liked to watch deer, hunt and fish. He married Agnes Dove on Nov. 8, 1980 in Coldwater. She survives. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mable J. Dolbee in 1979. Also preceding him in death were daughter Susanne Kimble in 1939; brother William Kimble; sisters Marguerite Kimble and Artella Buys; and nephew Robert Buys. Survivors include his wife Agnes; foster son Edward Callahan of Tequesta, Fla.; three stepsons Jery Barrack of Redwood City, Calif., Larry Barrack of Union City and Corky Barrack of Coldwater; step daughter Patricia Brater of Merritt Island, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater. Pastor John Scott of Girard Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen cemetery, Girard Township. Memorials may be made to Girard Methodist Church. COLDWATER Ð Sarah L. Paff, 91, of Coldwater died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at the Community Health Center of Branch County. Mrs. Paff was born July 11, 1909 in Coldwater to Grant and Mary Elizabeth (Baker) Smith. She was a homemaker and also cared for 50 children in her home over several years. She married Wilfred E. Paff on July 21, 1926 in Coldwater. She attended the Coldwater Wesleyan Church. She was a life member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, loved the Gospel Barn and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. Survivors include one daughter Joyce (Arlen) Glispy of Coldwater; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother Harland Smith and one sister Erma Hazelwood. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Services will be held Monday, Oct. 30, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Rev. Carlton Freed and Joyce Glispy will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove cemetery in Coldwater. Memorials may be given to the Coldwater Wesleyan Church.

UNION CITY - Juanita Parshall, 59, of Union City died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at the Community Health Center of Branch County. MONTGOMERY Ð John H. Davis, Jr., 74, of Montgomery passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 in Christiansburg, Va.
UNION CITY Ð Juanita Parshall, 59, of Union City died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
Mrs. Parshall was born March 7, 1941 in Ohio to Haze and Lulu (Brown) Marshall.

She married Jack Parshall on Sept. 9, 1988 in Coldwater. He survives.

Besides her husband Jack Parshall of Union City, other survivors include two sons Curtis Goodman of Union City and Jason Parshall of Nottawa; two daughters Louise Cheney of South Carolina and Wanda Laird of Union City; three brothers Jay Marshall of Union City, John Marshall of Union City and Alfred Marshall of Tekonsha; four sisters Imojean Marshall of Union City, Emma Collins of Union City, Linda Johnson of Union City and Mary Lou Marshall of Union City; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Haze and Lulu Marshall and one brother Bo Marshall.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Putnam Funeral Home in Union City and Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City.

Services will be held Monday, Oct. 30, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Pastor Glen Jeffrey will officiate.

MONTGOMERY - John H. Davis, Jr., 74, of Montgomery passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 in Christiansburg, Va.

Carl M. Lopez

KALAMAZOO - Carl M. Lopez, 84, of Batavia Township, died Feb. 1, 2001, at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born May 30, 1916, in Coldwater to Nicholas and Louisa (Bonfiglio) Lopez. Mr. Lopez was a merchant, operating the family business Nick's Ice Cream Parlor, and in partnership with his brother, Robert, operating the Alamo Drive-In Restaurant. Mr. Lopez was a lifelong resident of Branch County. In his youth, he was a musician and had his own group called Carl Marlo & His Orchestra. After retirement, he bartended at the Legion, Eagles and Narrows. Mr. Lopez loved watching sports, rowing his boat around the lake and he walked every day. He married Ramona Sweet on Nov. 21, 1952, in Angola, Ind. She survives. He is also survived by sons, Daniel (Karina) Lopez of Traverse City and Virgil Lopez of Coldwater; daughter, Louise (Stanley) Kopelow of Tarzana, Calif.; stepmother, Maria Lopez of Tennessee; stepson, Steven Williams of Coldwater; stepdaughters, Gayle Delyi of Greenwood, S.C., and Cindy (Jim) King of Coldwater; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert J. Lopez of Coldwater; a half-brother, Tony Lopez of Tennessee; and a half-sister, Lucy Davidson of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Virgil and Emil Lopez. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, with a rosary service at 6 p.m. at the Dutcher Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at St. Charles Borromeo Church with Rev. Fr. Brian Stanley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery in Coldwater. Memorials may be directed to the Diabetes Association or St. Charles Borromeo Church. BRONSON Ñ DaWayne R. Strong, 54, of Bronson, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at the Community Health Center of Branch County following a nine-year illness. He was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Bronson, the son of Kenneth Ervin and Sarah Isabel (Milliman, later Wiser) Strong. DaWayne attended Bronson Schools, and later married Janet Lutz on Nov. 5, 1963 in Coldwater. He was employed for 26 years as a welder at Douglas Autotech in Bronson until his illness forced his early retirement in 1992. He had also served as Union Steward for the UAW Local 822. DaWayne loved his family and enjoyed fishing and mushrooming. Surviving are his wife, Janet; daughters and sons-in-law, Lesia and Ora Good of Fremont, Ind., Kimberly and Kevin Smith of Bronson, Tonia and David Booth of Orland, Ind., and Sonia and Travis Burkhead of Sturgis; daughter, Sharri Miller of Rome City, Ind.; son, Ronald Strong of Bronson; son and daughter-in-law, DaWayne A. and Angela Strong of Rome City, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth Strong of Sturgis; and sisters, Gladys Hoard of Burr Oak, Mich., Bertha Colpetsir of Coldwater and Beverly Grindle and Sally Howard, both of Bronson. A brother, Raymond Strong, preceded him in death. Funeral services celebrating the life of DaWayne R. Strong will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the Kolcz Funeral Home of Bronson with Rev. Keith Treman of the First United Methodist Church of Sturgis officiating. Interment will follow in Adams cemetery in Bronson. Shirley Irene Martin

Shirley Irene Martin recently passed away at the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility, where she had been a resident for three years.
Mrs. Martin was born Shirley Newlin in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1910. She was graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Iowa, in 1927. She had one sister, Genevieve, and two brothers, George and Robert. Her parents were Clare and Gertrude Newlin of Marion, Iowa. All have preceded her in death.She matriculated to Emerson Music Conservatory in Chicago, where she graduated with a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in the pipe organ. Her graduation recital was held at the Chicago Field House. She was the church organist for many different churches in Marion and also a pianist for many silent movie theaters of the area. She also was an active member of the Marion First Methodist Church.She married former golf professional Howard Martin, who died in 1992. They moved to the Coldwater area in 1972, where they resided at Lake Levine for many years. She is survived by her son, David, a former Coldwater elementary and middle school teacher and currently an instructor with Kellogg Community College; his wife, the former Barbara Walters of Ferndale, Mich.; one loving granddaughter, Darcy Lee Martin of Kalamazoo; and a sister-in-law, Fern Newlin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Mrs. Martin worked at the Cedar Rapids Gazette for almost 20 years. She retired from the Gazette as the night/telegraph editor. She had been active in the D.A.R. and resigned her position and membership with the organization as a protest over their policies of segregation during the 1950s. She was also active in several literary and musical societies in Cedar Rapids and Marion.She was a voracious reader, a Chicago Cubs fan, a great fan of country and western music, an enthusiastic golfer, an avowed liberal Democrat and loved to travel. She has many nieces and nephews scattered across Colorado, Nevada and Arizona.A memorial service will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.Billy C. Brown, 74, of Girard Township, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at his home.He was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Ray, Ind. (Branch County), to Harold and Theressa (Blotter) Brown. Mr. Brown was a police officer in Angola and Fremont, Ind. Previous to that, he worked as a timber buyer and ran the Saw Mill in Fremont.Mr. Brown lived in the Branch County area for the past 18 years, coming here from the Barry, Kent and Newaygo area. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals and the outdoors, especially gardening. He also loved to cook.He married Judy Crawford on Oct. 18, 1964, in Fremont, Ind. She survives.He is also survived by his son, Zane (Jennifer) Brown of Horseheads, N.Y.; daughters, Kerry (Robert) Bird of Hamilton, Ind., Sue (Steve) Keller of Reading, Patty (Mark) Klink of Angola, Ind. and Betsy Brown and John Potter of Coldwater; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Theressa Snyder of Angola, Ind.; brother, Bruce Brown of Blue Springs, Mo.; sisters, Fairy Ann Wattier of Aurora, Colo., and Brenda Vrabel of Kansas City, Mo.; and former wife, Elsie Brown of Angola, Ind.He was preceded in death by his father in 1985 and brother, Phillip Snyder.Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2001, at the Dutcher Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the Dutcher Funeral Home with Brother Tim Miller of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Jerry Gresham, 54, of Coldwater, passed away March 8, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.

Mr. Gresham was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Florence, Ala., to William Gresham and Edna (Brener) Gresham. He married Margaret Cobb on Jan. 7, 1966, in Dearborn Heights, Mich., and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Joel (Jennifer) Gresham of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Angela and Lexanne Gresham of Coldwater; two brothers, Billy (Barbara) Gresham of Tecumseh and Jimmie Gresham of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Rebecca (John) Harrison of Manchester; and his parents, William and Edna Gresham of Manchester.

Jerry was retired from Ford Motor Company in Wayne, where he worked for 17 1/2 years.

Visitation will be March 10 from 3-5 p.m. and March 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Jenter & Braun Funeral Home, Brooklyn Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with interment following at Roseland Memorial Gardens in Jackson.

Bessie R. Knowles

Bessie R. Knowles, 83, of Coldwater, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at the Laurels of Coldwater.
She was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Quincy to Isaac Noblit and Katie Lossing. She married Leo "Whitey" Knowles on April 6, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1985.Mrs. Knowles was a member of the Coldwater Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the UCT. She was a Hall of Fame bowler in the Coldwater Women's Bowling Association. She was a euchre player and avid deer hunter, as well as a bird and squirrel lover and an avid golfer. She was a homemaker and later worked at Federal Mogul in Coldwater.She is survived by her children, Richard Knowles, Bonnie Curtis and Betty (Gerald) Thomas, all of Quincy; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence (Roy) Forrister and Mildred (Wilbur) Lenon, both of Coldwater, and Margaret (Red) McLain of Lakeland, Fla.She was preceded in death by six brothers and eight sisters.Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the Gillespie Funeral Home in Coldwater, where there will be a Coldwater Eagles Auxiliary service at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, at the funeral home with Rev. She also lived in Arkansas and Pennsylvania before moving to Kendalville, Ind. and finally to Bronson in 1965.Grace married Lenard Davis in 1929. He died Dec. 6, 1978. She then married Kenneth Schambers on July 7, 1984 in Coldwater.In her early years, she picked cotton, then worked in a restaurant in Arkansas, had owned a second-hand store in Kendalville, had worked in a factory in Burr Oak, Mich. and also at the Bronson Nursing Home.She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Coldwater and enjoyed cooking and her family..Surviving are her husband, Kenneth; daughters, Bonnie Gose of Vicksburg, Mich., Naomi (Jesse) McGill of Jonesboro, Ark. and Peggy (Chuck) Sams of Marcellus, Mich.; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Dorothy Davis of Bronson and Mike and Linda Davis of Franklin, Tenn.; step-daughters, Cheryl Regan of Bloomington, Ind. and Cindy (Rob) Strahm of Fort Wayne, Ind.; step-sons Alvin (Shelly) Schambers of Mentone, Ind., Rick Schambers of Spencerville, Ind., Bill (Nancy) Schambers of Winamac, Ind. and Jim Schambers of Newville, Ind.; 43 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Freda Sager of Arizona. Anita Belle Waffle

Anita Belle Waffle, 78, of Tekonsha, died March 29, 2001, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.

She was born April 2, 1922, in Tekonsha Township to Donald and Grace (Bartholemew) Johnson. She married Carl A. Waffle on Feb. 21, 1943, in Williamston, Mich. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1981.

She was born and raised in Tekonsha Township and she lived in the family home for 46 years. She graduated from the Tekonsha High School in 1939 as valedictorian of her class. She then attended Michigan State University and graduated in 1943. She was a 4-H leader and she was involved in the 4-H Extension program. She also was in the Progressive Mother's Club and in the Diabetic Association, the North American Limousine Association and the Golden Girls Club.

She worked for the Tekonsha schools in the cafeteria.

Survivors include sons, Larry Waffle of Burlington, Mich. and Reid (Rose Marie) Waffle of Burlington; a daughter, Sue (Bill) Powell of Tekonsha; two sisters, Kay (Jerry) Beaver of Northville, Mich. and Donna Johnson of Marshall; a brother, Jerry Johnson of Marshall; 5 grandchildren; a step-grandson; 5 great-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl (Spark) Waffle, and her parents, Donald and Grace Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at Putnam's of Tekonsha and 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 1 at Putnam's. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 2, at the Union Church in Tekonsha with Pastor Barb Pryor officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Tekonsha.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

LOWELL - Lloyd N. Brown, 88, of Lowell died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the Laurels of Kent, Lowell.
Mr. Brown was born Sept. 25, 1912 in Algansee Township to Frank and Dora (Nagle) Brown. He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a lifetime member of the Thrashers Association and Men's Club of Laurels of Kent.

There will be no visitation.

Burial will take place at Lester cemetery, Branch County.

Joseph F. Elliget

MESA, Ariz. - Services for Joseph F. Elliget, 78, of Mesa, Ariz. and former Coldwater, Mich. resident, will be Monday, April 2, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Mariposa Gardens Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa.

Mr. Elliget was born Nov. 16, 1922 in Sturgis, Mich., served in the U.S. Army during World War II, moving to the Phoenix area in 1963.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jean; a daughter Patricia (Dennis) Dewyer of Phoenix; a son Larry (Kathy) Elliget of Mesa; a brother Richard Elliget of Mesa; along with seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Mesa Funeral Care, 400 S. Power Rd. from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A private family interment will take place at the Veteran's cemetery, Phoenix, Ariz.

Contributions in Joe's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Mesa Funeral Care at Mariposa Gardens.

Richard C. Wade

Richard C. Wade, 66, of Litchfield, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center.
Sinche 1960, he has owned and operated Wade Construction in Litchfield. Dick was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Jackson, Mich., to Carroll "Jack" and Gladys (Southfield) Wade, and he graduated from Litchfield High School in 1952. He was a member of the National Guard for 8 years and the Litchfield Fire Department fo r38 years. He served as fire chief for 26 years, retiring in 1995.Dick was also a charter member of the Litchfield Lions Club and recipient of the district's "Lion of the Year" award. He had also been honored at a Litchfield Civic Dinner with their "Man of the Year" award.In 1955, he married Shirley (Van Voorhis), and she preceded him in death in 1987. On Nov. 24, 1989, he married Vena (Foust), and she survives.Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Jerilyn) Ochsenrider of Tehachapi, Calif., Carol Ladd of Hillsdale and Mrs. Jeff (Sandra) Graves of Boulder, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Russell (Delores) Smith of Quincy; two brothers, Terry (Darlene) Wade of Litchfield and Thomas (Marilyn) Wade of Longwood, Fla.; and 7 grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the Litchfield United Methodist Church with Revs. Clyde Wonders and R. John Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the George White Funeral Home in Litchfield. Memorials are suggested to the Litchfield Fireman's Association or the Litchfield Lions Club.Frederick "Jeff" Marshall, chief petty officer, passed away April 5, 2001, at his home in Martinez, Calif.Jeff was born Sept. 25, 1956, to Ellen (Harris) Van Tassel, who survives. He retired May 5, 2000, from the U.S. Navy.Survivors are his wife, Linda; daughter, Jessica; son, Jason; sister, Sandra Lee Redd; and nephews.Arrangements are pending at the Quiment Funeral Home in Concord, Calif.

Frederick "Jeff" Marshall

Frederick "Jeff" Marshall, chief petty officer, passed away April 5, 2001, at his home in Martinez, Calif.
Jeff was born Sept. 25, 1956, to Ellen (Harris) Van Tassel, who survives. He retired May 5, 2000, from the U.S. Navy.

Survivors are his wife, Linda; daughter, Jessica; son, Jason; sister, Sandra Lee Redd; and nephews.

Arrangements are pending at the Quiment Funeral Home in Concord, Calif.

Sharlotte W. Hantz

Sharlotte W. Hantz, 91, of Angola, Ind., died April 5, 2001, at Lakeland Nursing Center in Angola.

She was born Jan. 20, 1910, in Bronson, the daughter of Jay and Myrtye (Reynolds) Straehly. She married Clinton F. Hantz on Feb. 17, 1940, at Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2001.

She was a 1927 graduate of Bronson High School. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed needlework, playing cards and dancing. She was also a member of the Jolly Old Timers of Bronson and served as treasurer of the UAW Local 822 Retirees of Bronson.

She retired after 36 years at the former Douglas Mfg., now known as AutoTech in Bronson.

She is survived by special friends, Bob and Dulcine Petty of Angola, Ind., and Arland and Marjorie Fair of Bronson; and several nieces, nephews and special cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Clair Straehly.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday (Indiana time) at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont, Ind. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Indiana time Monday, April 9, at the funeral home with Rev. James Hulbert officiating. Burial will be in Bronson cemetery in Bronson, Mich.

Memorials may be made to the North Scott Christian Church. Arrangements are by Beams Funeral Home of Fremont, 219-495-2915.

Ruth Dalton Jackson

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Ruth Dalton Jackson, 96, of Cambridge, Mass. died April 18, 2001 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Mass.

Mrs. Jackson was born Jan. 28, 1905 in Ireland to Francis B. and Margaret (Meaney) Dalton. She married John T. Jackson. He preceded her in death in 1961. She lived in the Coldwater area prior to moving to Cambridge, Mass.Ruth worked as a secretary for the University in Cambridge.Survivors include a grand nephew Richard Jordan of Westport, Conn. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John T. Jackson.She was a former member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Coldwater. There will be no visitation.A service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Coldwater. Father Brian Stanley of St. Charles Borromeo Church will officiate.Burial will take place at Oak Grove cemetery, Coldwater.Arrangements are by Putnam Funeral Home, Coldwater.
