MARY L. MILESKI

Bronson - Mary L. Mileski, age 74, of Bronson, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at the Sturgis Hospital following a nine month illness.
Born January 23, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, Mary was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Wojechowski) Zapora and was raised in Clevelamd. She married William Mileski on October 7, 1950 in St. Edward's Catholic Church in Cleveland and the couple moved to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1967. They also lived in Colon and Sturgis before moving to Bronson in 1993.
Mary was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Society. She enjoyed crocheting, playing BINGO and loved her daughters and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed calling her daughters and grandchildren on the phone.
Surviving are her husband Bill, daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Stephen Barricklow of Katy, Texas, Karen and Rick Hart of Sturgis and Cathy and Gary Miller of Colon; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister Helen Marrison of Ashtabula, Ohio and three brothersm Victor Ceipiel of Cleveland, OH, Lou Ceipiel of Bentonville, Arkansas and Ray Zapora of Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, September 3, 2004 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Albert Miorin officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 Pm Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 Pm Thursday. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Mary School.

Casmer J. Jenkot

Coldwater - Casmer J. ”Casey” Jenkot, age 83, of Coldwater, passed from this life on Monday, December 6, 2004 at the Laurels of Coldwater following a several week illness.
He was born January 8, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Joseph and Eva (Dubinska) Jenkot and moved to Coldwater in 1969. He married the former Nancy Kolassa on July 24, 1982 in Coldwater.
Casey was always a self-employed businessman. While living in Chicago, he reconditioned oil barrels then owned and operated a tavern. While living in Coldwater, he did concrete work in the Angola area, owned and operated an ice cream parlor and for the past ten years, owned and operated Casey's Antiques. He also was a salesman of Budweiser Steins.
He enjoyed traveling, garage sales and flea markets and was an avid collector. He was a US Army Veteran of World War 2 serving in the Southern Philippines and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his wife Nancy, daughters and sons-ins-law, Linda and Larry Porter of Fremont, IN and Barbara and Don Ross of Elkhart, IN; sons and daughters-in-law James and Joyce Jenkot of Republic, MI, Robert and Kathy Jenkot of Marshall, MI and step-sons, Michael Hughes of Mt. Pleasant, MI and Todd Hughes of West Branch, MI. 10 Grandchildren and six great Grandchildren. Three brothers preceded him in death.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Kolcz Funeral Home of Bronson. Memorial Donations may be made to the Friendship Club on Hanchett St. in Coldwater or the Branch County Commission on Aging.

Shirley A. Lutz

Bronson - Shirley A. Lutz, age 66, of Bronson, died Wednesday evening, November 24, 2004 at the Sturgis Hospital following a nine month illness.
Shirley was born April 5, 1938 in Sturgis, daughter of Owen H. and Maxine P. (VanDyke) Powers and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1956 and married Howard Lutz a few weeks later on June 30, 1956 at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson.
Shirley first worked a few years at Trans-A-Gram in Sturgis, then in Data Processing at the former Kirsch Company in Sturgis for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and her flower garden. She also enjoyed traveling, making three trips to Ireland and visiting Europe and several destination in the United States.
Surviving are Howard, her husband of 48 years, her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Czajkowski of Bronson, sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Diana Lutz of Denver, Colorado, Michael and Laura Lutz of Omaha, Nebraska and Marty and Karen Lutz of Ann Arbor; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Bontrager of White Pigeon and Sally Stevens of Sturgis.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Prayers before Mass will be at 9:30 AM Saturday at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Kolcz Funeral Home from 3 - 7 PM Friday where the Rosary will be recited at 5 PM Friday. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Mary School.

Louise M. Stark
July 27, 1930 - May 6, 2008

Louise M. Stark, age 77, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the Mac McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. She was born July 27, 1930.

Private family graveside services for Louise M. Stark will be held at a later date at White Chapel cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Anna B. Smoker

Bronson - Anna B. Smoker, age 84, of Bronson, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Maple Lawn medical Care Facility in Coldwater.

She was born July 1, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of Charles and Mary (Dutka) Chupan and moved to Bronson at the age of 18 years. She married Florian John Smoker on October 13, 1934 at St. Mary of the Assumption catholic Church in Bronson. He died in July, 1978.

Anna had worked at both L.A. Darling Company and at Douglas Manufacturing Company in Bronson until her ill health forced her early retirement. She had also worked at the former Gamble's Store in Bronson.

She was a member of St,. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson, the Rosary Society and the Jolly Old Timers Club where she was a past president. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading and especially enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are her son Robert Smoker, her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Mary Smoker all of Bronson, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

The Funeral Liturgy celebrating the life of Anna B. Smoker will begin with prayers at the Kolcz Funeral Home at 9:30 AM Friday. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10 AM Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard A. Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Kolcz Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM and from 6 to 8 PM Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 PM Thursday. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, Canada. Envelopes are available at the Kolcz Funeral Home.

Alice Louise Eicher
February 25, 1914 - May 2, 2008

Alice L. Eicher, age 94, of Fayette, Ohio passed away Friday, May 2, 2008, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Ohio. She was born February 25, 1914, in Gorham Twp., Ohio to Lanson and Arvilla (Powers) Burnham. She married Maynard I. Eicher on April 23, 1936, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1988.

Alice was employed at Fayette Tubular for 19 years. She graduated from Fayette High School Class of 1932 and was a 50 year member of Eastern Star in Fayette.

Surviving Alice are several nieces, nephews and special friend, Verna Bailey of Wauseon, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Blair Burnham.

Visitation for Alice will be Monday, May 5, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with a grave side service to follow at Lauber Hill cemetery in German Township, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties or Fulton County Cancer Society.

Mary Tatur Clark

Bronson - Mary E. (Tatur) Clark, age 76, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Bronson, died quietly Monday, April 16, 2001 at Spectrum Health Center in Grand Rapids. She had been living in Grand Rapids for the past four years to be near her daughters

She was born June 28, 1924 in LaGrange, Indiana daughter of Russell D. and Ruth (Minnick) Vaughn but had always claimed Bronson as her home.

Also known as "Mickey", she had top billing at family get-togethers when she made the family specialty of peanut pudding. She also owned and operated the Fashionway Beauty Salon in Bronson and worked as a real estate agent both in Coldwater and Sturgis.

Mary was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and a collegiant member of the Sturgis MOOSE Club #613. Foe over 50 years, she was a member of the American Business Women's Association and held several offices. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and a tropht winning bowler.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Tatur, daughetr and son-in-law, Colleen & Fred Aversa all of Grand Rapids; brothers, Lyle (Mary Alice) Vaughn of Las Vegas, NV, Larry (Valerie) Vaughn of Sturgis, MI; sisters, Rea (Richard) Leer of Apache Junction, AZ, Vera Strong of Sturgis, and Bessie (Larry) Perrin of Sturgis and her sister-in-law, Janice Vaughn of Colon. She will also be miised by her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughetr Sheila, Sisters, AnnaDiehl, Jean York, and brothers, Bill Vaughn, Pat (Charles) Vaughn, Jackie Vaughn and Jim Vaughn.

Funeral Services celebrating the life of Mary Tatur Clark will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 19, 2001 at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Al Miorin of st. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday. Memorial Donations may be made to Veterans Care at Fort Custer Veterans Hospital. Envelopes are available at the Kolcz Funeral Home.

Chester P. Warzniak

Bronson - Chester P. Warzniak, age 89, of Sturgis, formerly of Bronson, sies early Sunday, April 15, 2001 at the Sturgis Hospital. He had been in failing health.

Chester was born June 29, 1911 in South Bend, Indiana, son of Frank and Stella (Czerwinska) Wawrzyniak and moved to Bronson with his family. He had been living with his daughter in Sturgis for the past few years.

He was a tool and die maker for the L.A. Darling Company in Bronson until the company moved. He then worked at the former Bronson Reel Company and several other factories until his retirement.

Chester was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Edna Delich of Livonia, Michigan, Nancy and Gregory Kolb of Sturgis, Phyllis and David Chenery of Kalamazoo, MI, Grace and Bob Beacham of Sturgis and Kathleen and Ron Dunlap of Bullhead City, Arizona; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Funeral Services celebrating the life of Chester Warzniak will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Al Moirin officiating. Interment will follow in Matteson Twp. cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Kolcz Funeral Home from 5 - 8 PM Tuesday where the Knights of Columbus will lead the Rosary at 7 PM Tuesday. Memorial Donations may be made to the Bronson Knights of Columbus Council 2924. Envelopes are available at the Kolcz Funeral Home. .

Ross A. Baker
October 30, 1915 - April 22, 2008

Ross A. Baker, 92, was called home to his Lord on Earth Day, April 22, 2008. Ross was born October 30,1915 in Hillsdale County, Michigan to Alger and Minnie (Donihue) Baker.

After graduation from Jonesville High School in 1934, Ross attended MSU for Agricultural Science. Ross then worked for Consumers Power Company.

Ross married Celia I. Kintigh on November 24, 1937 at the home of her parents in Mosherville. Ross and Celia lived most of their married life in Jonesville. Ross purchased a milk truck and hauled milk from dairy farms to milk processing plants. After selling his milk truck in 1949 he became a full time dairy farmer. Ross and Celia raised four sons.

Education was very important to Ross and he devoted many years as a member of the School Board in Jonesville. After serving on the School Board, Ross became a supervisor of Fayette Township. He was a life long member of Jonesville United Methodist Church and for most of his adult life he served in many capacities in the church. Ross was a member of the Lions Club. After retiring, he and Celia spent their winters in Florida.

Ross is survived by a large family who loved him dearly. They include his sisters, Ruth Thompson and Doris Pfau both of Jonesville; four sons, Roger (Beverly) of Big Rapids, Jerry (Brenda) of Climax, David (Carol) of Schoolcraft and Dale (Carol) of Jonesville. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Celia of 70 years, parents and brothers, Carl and Ralph.

Funeral services for Ross Baker will be Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Jonesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset View cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Future Building Fund of the Jonesville United Methodist Church or the Diabetes Association.

Sadie M. Frohriep

Bronson - Sadie M. Frohriep, age 92, of Bronson, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at the Laurels of Coldwater where she had been a resident for the past two weeks..

Sadie was born February 18, 1909 in Bronson, daughter of Martin and Anna (Herman) Sikorski and was a lifelong Bronson resident. She married Ivan Frohriep on Octoner 28, 1929 in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He died in November, 1974.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and Sacred Heart Society. Sadie was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardenning, crochetting and her three children.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Kenneth Watters of Reading; sons, Leonard Frohriep and Edward Frohriep both of Bronson, a grandson and his wife, James and Tennah Watters of Wichita, Kansas; a granddaughter and her husband, LeeAnn and Ryan Seitz of Coldwater; great grandchildren, Ashley Noblit, Lindsey Noblit and Jacob Seitz all of Coldwater and a sister Elizabeth Russell of Park Falls, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

The Funeral Liturgy celebrating the life of Sadie M. Frohriep will begin at 9:30 AM Monday, April 16, 2001 with prayers at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.
