Florence M. Kirkpatrick, 88, of Osseo, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born October 15, 1919 in Mercer County, Ohio to William & May (Pifer) Baker. She was married January 17, 1941 in Quincy to Leslie Kirkpatrick and he preceded her in death in 1988.
Florence graduated from Coldwater High School. She moved to Osseo in 1960 and worked on the farm with her husband. She retired from Addison Products and in later years loved to travel.
Florence is survived by four sons, Larry (Linda) Kirkpatrick of New Bern, N. Carolina, Dennis (Bonnie) Kirkpatrick and Shannon (Lee) Kirkpatrick both of Hillsdale, Jack (Teresa) Kirkpatrick of Osseo; a sister, Geraldine Onley of Spring Arbor; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband, Leslie, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, three brothers and one grandson, Brian.
Funeral services for Florence M. Kirkpatrick will be Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Rev. Douglas Plunkett officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Jefferson Township. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.

Lois J. Myers

COLDWATER — Lois J. Myers, 72, of Coldwater, died March 2, 2000, at her residence.
She was born April 2, 1927, in Sherwood, Mich. to Grant and Jessie (Hall) Mohr. She married Richard Myers on April 7, 1945, in Coldwater, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1998.
She was a clerk in a retail business. She also spend 19 years in the Franklin PTA and was a former Campfire Girls leader.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Sue (Greg) Speaker of Coldwater and Carol (Richard) Lyon of Coldwater; 2 sons, Richard W. (Mary) Myers of Quincy and Scott (Pam) Myers of Coldwater; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, 1 brother and 1 granddaughter.
Visitation will be Monday, March 6, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sherwood cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Branch County Humane Society.
Arrangements are by Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater, 517-278-2311.

Lydia S. Becker

COLDWATER – Lydia S. Becker, 39, of Coldwater died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 at home.
She was born March 6, 1960 in Grand Rapids to Douglas and Janet (Haywood) Miller. Lydia was a resident of the Branch County area for the past 12 years, coming here from Saginaw. She was a very independent, strong-willed woman who loved being a mom. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by husband, Craig Klein; sons, Mike Becker and Kyle Klein, both of Coldwater; daughter, Jamie Becker of Coldwater; and brother, Scott Miller of California.
There will be no visitation and no service. Cremation has already taken place.
Arrangements are by the Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater.

Salina G. Eicher

HILLSDALE — Salina G. Eicher, 68, of Quincy, Mich., passed away Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center.
She was born May 23, 1931, to George and Lovina (Bontrager) Yoder. She is the beloved mother of Mrs. Paul (Lovina) Schmucker of Quincy and grandmother of David, Sarah and Eddie Schmucker. She is also survived by three sisters, Fannie and Enos Yoder of Sarasota, Fla., Elizabeth and Enos E. Yoder of Huntingdon, Tenn., and Saloma and Jacob W.C. Eicher of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Eicher, in 1980, and one brother and sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 6, at 9 a.m. at the Nate Eicher farm, 830 Newton Rd., Coldwater. Burial will be in the Old Order Amish cemetery on South Butler Rd.
Arrangements are by the Diedrich-White Funeral Home in Quincy.

Milton A. Crouse

HILLSDALE – Milton A. Crouse, 80, of Hillsdale died Monday, April 17, 2000 at The Laurels of Coldwater.
Mr. Crouse was retired from Allied Products and Dana Corporation.
He was born April 11, 1920 in Hillsdale County to Henry and Millie (Leffler) Crouse. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Montgomery American Legion. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
On Aug. 17, 1940 he married Verona Stump. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters Janet and Harry Marsh of Quincy and Monica and Jerry Russell of Jonesville; two sons Gary and Carol Crouse of Sugarland, Texas and Paul and Evelyn Crouse of Reading; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and his parents.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the St. John-White Funeral Home, Reading, with Rev. Don Harkey officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2000 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Hillsdale County Veterans Association, or the donor’s choice.

Elcide “Al” Brouillard

COLDWATER TWP. – Elcide “Al” Brouillard, 82, of Coldwater Township died Thursday, April 20, 2000 at his home.
Mr. Brouillard was born Nov. 30, 1917 in Chippewa Falls, Wisc. to John and Alvina (Blanchard) Brouillard.
Mr. Brouillard retired after working many years as a security guard at the Community Health Center in Coldwater and spending most of his life in the field of law enforcement. He owned and operated the former Texaco Station in Coldwater along with several other private businesses. Al also helped in the construction of the Thule, Greenland airstrip.
Mr. Brouillard lived in the Branch County area since 1953, coming here from Wisconsin. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge of Coldwater and was past president of the Coldwater Eagles. He coached a Wisconsin minor league baseball team to a championship win and was a skilled marksman. Al belonged to the Euchre Club at the Eagles, and was an avid Tiger baseball fan. He loved hunting, fishing and fixing small engines. He also sang and played many instruments.
He married Mary Dressel on Feb. 28, 1938 in Wisconsin. She survives.
Other survivors include his sons Gerald L. and Chuck Brouillard, both of Coldwater; daughters Genivive (Jenny) Smoker of Lake George, Ind., Lois (Larry) Wolff of Hanover Horton; and Jeanette Shaw of Coldwater; 11 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a grandson.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 24, 2000 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater. Rev. Fr. Brian Stanley will officiate.
Burial will take place at Batavia cemetery, Batavia Twp.
Memorials may be made to the Eagle Memorial Fund.

Martin E. Walters

COLDWATER – Martin E. Walters, 78, of Coldwater died Thursday, April 20, 2000 at the Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater.
Mr. Walters was born May 23, 1921 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Martin G. and Beulah (Tase) Walters. He married the former Kathryn M. Hutchins on June 30, 1954 in Angola, Ind. She survives.
He was a truck driver with Davenports from 1955 to 1964, and then with Worden Brothers from 1964 to 1986. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and earned the Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 1980 in Otsego. He was also a member of the Eagles of Coldwater, the Coldwater American Legion and the Otsego VFW.
After retirement he and his wife traveled and spent summers at the Otsego Moose campground.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn Walters of Coldwater; two daughters Mrs. James (Shiela) Auvil of Kalamazoo and Mrs. Barbara Ann Clements of Coldwater; two sons Kenneth Walters of Houghton Lake and Thomas C. (Donna) Lipman of Valparaso, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters Mrs. Morita Hulbert and Mrs. Marian “Babe” Winger, both of Coldwater; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 23, 2000 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 24, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater with a luncheon following at the Coldwater Eagles Club. Rev. Harold Jewel will officiate.
Burial will take place at Oak Grove cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Otsego Moose 345 Campgrounds or Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.

Peg M. (Liesveld) Pratt

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Peg M. (Liesveld) Pratt, 82, of Anaheim, Calif., died March 29, 2000. She had spent the last four and a half years in a nursing home.
Mrs. Pratt was born May 6, 1917 in Mason City, Iowa, and moved to Coldwater as a small child with her parents, Arthur and Ethel Liesveld. She married Donald Stevens, divorcing in 1948. The worked at the State Home in Coldwater until she married Wilson (Deac) Pratt in 1962. She then moved to Anaheim, Calif.
She is survived by two daughters Judith (Charles) Bertsch of Bronson and Candace (Merle) Warner of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; sister-in-law Marge Liesveld; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Deac, a brother Marvin Liesveld and a brother and sister-in-law Vern and Peg Liesveld.
A memorial service will be held in Coldwater at Oak Grove cemetery on May 13 at 11 a.m.

Wilson (Deac) Pratt

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Wilson (Deac) Pratt, 87, of Anaheim, Calif. died March 3, 2000 from diabetes.
Mr. Pratt was born Feb. 5, 1913. He attended and graduated from Tri-State University. He worked for many years in Coldwater until moving to Anaheim in 1962, where he worked for General Dynamics as an aerospace engineer, retiring in 1988.
He was married to Peg Hurley (formerly Peg Stevens) in 1962.
Survivors include one niece and on nephew.
No funeral service is planned. He was cremated and scattered at sea.
