Mary A. Strain, age 78, of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 at her home under the loving care of Hospice of Hillsdale. She was born April 24, 1932 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Clarence and Dorothy (Hochrein) Lincoln. Mary married Raymond L. Strain on August 20, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Mary worked as a nurses aide at Maplelawn in Hillsdale before transferring to the new Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility where she worked as a housekeeper for 35 years retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Frontier United Methodist Church. Mary was an avid gardener. She enjoyed cats, collecting antiques and crocheting rugs.

Survivors include four daughters, Deborah S. Cole of Frontier, Darlene M. Day of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Donna A. Strain of Hartingen, Texas, and Darcy L. Pugsley of Ypsilanti, Michigan; son Dennis Strain of Hillsdale; sister Patricia (Clyde) DeVoe of Frontier; brother David (Linda) Lincoln of Palasco, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband Raymond, Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Mary A. Strain will be Monday, May 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Frontier cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Frontier United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Hillsdale County.

Patricia E. Lavinder
February 5, 1955 - June 1, 2010

Patricia E. Lavinder, 55, of County Road S, Fayette, passed away Tuesday evening, June 1, 2010, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. She was born on February 5, 1955, in Morenci, Michigan, to Willard Milliman and the late Betty (Stoops) Kline. She married Willard “Pete” Lavinder on October 10, 1975, in Angola, IN, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2006.

Pat graduated from Gorham Fayette High School in 1973, and furthered her education at Northwest State Community college, where she obtained an Associate Degree in Accounting. Pat enjoyed painting, doing yard work and gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving Pat are two sons, Brent (Jennifer) Lavinder of Brunswick, OH, and Rusty (Emily) Lavinder of Fayette; her father, Willard of Hillsdale, MI; three grandchildren, Dakota, Noah, and Preston Lavinder; two sisters, Cheryl (Paul) Shaffer of Fayette, and Susan (Butch) Leininger of Muldrow, Oklahoma; and a brother-in-law, Walter Barry of Pittsford, MI.

Besides her mother and husband, Pat was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Barry, and her step-father, Nelson Kline.

A funeral service for Pat Lavinder will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Winston Hatcliff officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date at the Pleasant View Union cemetery in Fayette.

Ralph W. Blaker
November 22, 1936 - May 1, 2010

Ralph Blaker, 73, of Medina passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Tendercare in Adrian. He was born on November 22, 1936, in Medina the son of Ralph H. & Mary (McVay) Blaker. On January 18, 1957, in Sand Creek he married Emeline VanNest. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2000.

Ralph lived all of his life in the Hudson/Morenci area and was a member of the Canandaigua Community Church. He worked in construction most all of his life and retired from Metalloy Foundry in Hudson.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth (Todd) Graf of Tecumseh; four sons, Ralph Wayne Blaker of Medina, Wesley (Vallirie) Blaker of Medina; Arthur (Lisa) Blaker of the Ukraine, and Chris (Becky) Blaker of Morenci; twelve grandchildren; two great grandsons; three sisters, Sandy Davis of Morenci, Joyce Longo and Tamara Cooke both of Venice, Florida; and two brothers, Mike Blaker of Medina and Tim Blaker of Morenci.

Besides his wife, Emeline, Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy McCarty; and two brothers, Marvin and Doyle Blaker.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Arthur Blaker officiating. Burial will follow at the Medina cemetery in Medina. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee County.

Rosemary Pazzi
May 22, 1927 - May 7, 2010

Rosemary Pazzi, 82, of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Mac McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. She was born May 22, 1927 in Hazel, Kentucky to William & Mayme (Nix) Wright. She was married July 16,1985 to James Pazzi and he preceded her in death August 16, 2008.

Rosemary retired from Western Union after 31 years of service. She enjoyed cross stitch and crossword puzzles. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Kas of Roseville and Lisa (Paul) Crow of Imlay City; four sons, Ronald (Betty) Snodgrass of Phoenix, Arizona, Dennis (Pamela) Kas of Hillsdale, Eric (Sarah) Kas of Columbia, South Carolina and Timothy Kas of Roseville; sixteen granchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, James, Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents.

Private family memorial services will take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Robert Dean Wilson, age 69, of Hillsdale, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 in Wheatland Township. He was born August 1, 1940 in Mason City, Iowa.

David W. Wilson
November 30, 1959 - May 10, 2010

David Wilson, 50, of Morenci passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at home. He was born on November 30, 1959, in Hudson the son of I.C. & Ellen (Kruse) Wilson.

David lived all of his life in the Morenci area and was a graduate of the Morenci High School.

Survivors include his mother, Ellen Wilson of Morenci; a sister, Michelle McClue of Seneca; three brothers, Randy (Rose) Wilson of Defiance, Ohio, Rick Wilson of Morenci and Mike (Stacy) Wilson of Morenci; favorite uncle, Bob Wilson of Morenci; and two faithful companions, Reese & Fred.

David was preceded in death by his father, I. C. Wilson; two nephews, Matthew Wilson and Brandon Wilson; brother in law, Larry McClue; and two favorite dogs, Sport and Midnight.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenbug officiating. There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 5 until 8 PM.

Lillian Ford
December 6, 1923 - April 26, 2010

Lillian Ford, 86, of Morenci passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at Heartland of Wauseon, Ohio. She was born on December 6, 1923, in Ridgeway the daughter of George & Agnes (Cox) Wright. On August 12, 1944, in Clinton she married Hal D. Ford. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1976.

Lillian was a graduate of the Clinton High School. She was a homemaker and seamstress living in the Morenci area most all of her life and was a member of the Adrian Solo Adults Club for about twenty years.

Survivors include a daughter, Georgia (Jack) Zuvers of Morenci; two sons, Richard (Marie) Ford of Sylvania, Ohio, and David (Connie) Ford of Morenci; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Hal, Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandson, Garrett Shaffer.

Funeral service will be at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 11:30 AM with Pastor Nate Elarton officiating. A private burial will take place at the Lime Creek cemetery in Medina Township. There will be a visitation from 10:30 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Stair Public Library, Make a Wish Foundation or a charity of donor's choice.

Lee Ray McDowell, 73, passed away suddenly on March 29, 2010. Loving and devoted father to Timothy McDowell (Teresa), Todd McDowell (Patty), Traci Godfrey (Mark) and Terri Kariniemi (Dean). Cherished grandfather of Joshua McDowell, Aiden and Brodie McDowell, Christopher (Stacy), Brady and Kevin Christensen, Tim (Kimiko), Trevor, Mackenzie, Matthew and Fiona Godfrey, Daniel, Kati and Nicholas Kariniemi. Leaves behind to cherish his memory loving uncle Ivan McDowell, aunt Dorothy McDowell, brother James McDowell and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci on Saturday, May 1 at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.JDRF.org or the American Heart Association at www.americanheartassociation.org.

Marian Marie Keller
October 12, 1926 - April 17, 2010

Marian Marie Keller, 83, formerly of Morenci, Michigan went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2010. She was born on October 12, 1926, in Palmyra, Michigan the daughter of Forrest and Genevieve Snyder. She married her husband, Robert Keller of 34 years, on December 17, 1967, and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2001.

Marian moved to Indiana in 2003, to be with her son, Ernie and daughter-in-law, Anne residing at Grace Village Assisted Living in Winona Lake, Indiana where she met many residents and enjoyed playing cards (pepper and euchre) and the musical talents of the weekly jam session she rarely missed. She returned home to Michigan in December 2009, to Grand Court in Adrian.

Marian graduated from Adrian High School Class of 1944. She was a very active member in the Morenci area community as a busy wife in agricultural sales for many years with Bob at Keller's Supply, Inc. in Morenci. She and her husband were well known by the United Methodist Church in Morenci, providing her talents of cooking for large groups and providing meals for many social gatherings. She was always generous in the gift of her time and talents by serving the church in rummage sales for the local community, and was a member of the Triangle Club in Morenci.

Surviving Marian are three children, Gerald Knierim of Zephyrhills, Florida, Diane (Larry) Lakotos of Adrian, Michigan and Ernie (Anne) Keller of Warsaw, Indiana; four step children, Doug (Janet) Keller of Douglasville, Georgia, Carol (Paul) Schwartz of Dublin, Ohio, Dave (Deborah) Keller of Adrian and Dan (Jackie) Keller of Fayette, Ohio. She dearly loved her 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Earl and twin sister, Meredith in infancy.

Funeral services for Marian will be Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Morenci United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Burstall and Rev. Alan Hansen officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
