Judy A. Boyle, 56, of Jonesville passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her home. She was born March 25, 1954 in Port Huron to Avon "Al" Porter and Alberta O'Neal. She was married August 30, 1975 to Ronald W. Boyle and he survives.
Judy was a 1972 graduate of Hillsdale High School and was formerly employed as an accounting clerk for ACT Test Panels and Lambert-Bildner. She was a member of the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church and served as a session member. Judy enjoyed camping and she loved her grandchildren.
Besides her husband Ron, Judy is survived by her mother, Alberta Porter Edinger; a daughter, Christina (Robert) Dube of Jonesville; a son, Nicholas Boyle of Rochester; three sisters, Linda (Todd) Hulb of Litchfield, Kim (Rick) Glowe of Coldwater and Holly (Jeff) Cornish of Reading; two brothers, Patrick (Candi) Porter of Hillsdale and Albert Porter of Reading; a grandaughter Grace Katherine Dube and a grandson Jacob Dale Dube.
Judy was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services for Judy A. Boyle will be Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gary Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in Mosherville cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Memorial donations are suggested to Kings Cupboard or the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church.

John Brink, 39, formerly of Morenci passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010, in Moreland, Georgia. He was born on November 11, 1970, in Adrian the son of Gale & Lois (Leigh) Brink.
John was a graduate of the Morenci High School and furthered his education at Ferris College and Owens Community College for law enforcement. John was a truck driver and was formerly employed as a deputy at the Lenawee County Sheriff Department.
Survivors include his significant other, Carrie Myer and son, Dustin of Jacksonville, Florida; parents, Gale & Lois Brink of Wauseon, Ohio; sister, Teresa (Ben) Poorman of Wauseon, Ohio; brother, Aaron (Patricia) Brink of Wauseon, Ohio; maternal grandfather, Robert Mattson of Louisville, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Brink of Zephyrhills, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Norma Jean Mattson and paternal grandfather, John Leo Brink.
Funeral service will be on Monday, April 26, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2 until 8 PM.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a trust fund set up for Dustin Brink at the State Bank & Trust in Wauseon, Ohio. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

James D. Findlay, 95, passed away at his home Saturday, May 8, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born of Scottish parents Charles D. and Mary (MacGregor) Findlay in Battle Creek, Michigan on March 15, 1915. He married Helen Holmes of Brooklyn, Michigan on January 1, 1942, at the Norvell Community Church. He and Helen spent 22 winters at Fort Lauderdale, Florida and 40 summers at Lake Michigan near Charlevoix.
Jim retired from Harper Chevrolet in Hudson as a service manager after 39 years of service. He graduated from Jackson High School Class of 1933, and then attended a mechanical trade school in Detroit before moving to Hudson in 1938. He was elected to Hudson City Council and served on a board to establish Thorn Memorial Hospital in 1961. He was 1st President of the Hudson Museum, 2nd President of Junior Chamber of Commerce, charter member of Hudson Dance Club and Devils Lake Yacht Club, member of Hudson First Congregational Church, Veteran Motor Car Club and the owner of a 1916 Marmon auto which took honors at many club events. He was unsuccessful in efforts to save Hudson Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Depot in Hudson. He and his valued friend, Bruce Coleman were proud of promoting and erecting the Hudson Patriot Memorial.
Surviving Jim besides his wife, Helen of Hudson is one son, David (Teresa) Findlay of Port Orange, Florida; one daughter, Mary Findlay Case and Michael Sterling of Adrian, Michigan; two granddaughters, Tammy (Eric) Skaggs of Canton, Georgia and Mary Jean (Andrew) Boston of Union City, Michigan; one grandson, William (Rondel) Case of Adrian; eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two sisters, Ann Tosh Clock of Royal Oak, Michigan and Edith MacGregor Eller-Murray of Fairfield, California.
There will be a memorial service for Jim on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hudson First Congregational Church in Hudson with Rev. Dr. Thomas Burke officiating. Private internment will be at Norvell cemetery in Norvell, Michigan at a later date. There will be a visitation for family and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements were entrusted to Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to the Hudson Museum, Hudson Public Library or Hospice of Lenawee County.

John J. Gimenez, 84, of Hudson, Michigan passed away, Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Tendercare in Adrian, Michigan. He was born January 22, 1926, in Eastland, Texas the son of Guadelupe and Josephina (Delo Santos) Gimenez. He married Barbara Shadbolt in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 26, 1989, and she survives.
John worked in the seal coat and asphalt business for years. He was a U.S. Navy WW II Veteran and member of the Hillsdale American Legion.
Surviving John besides his wife, Barbara of Hudson are one daughter, Eva (Darrel) Sowle of Osseo, Michigan; one son, John Gimenez of Pensacola, Florida; three step daughters, Cathy (Mike) McNicol of Hudson, Connie (Charles) Ford of Holly, Michigan and Chris (Bob) Galbreath of Winter Garden, Florida; one step son, Ken (Dena) Kreighbaum of Marion, Indiana; one sister, Connie (Rudy) Negrete of Topeka, Kansas, five brothers, Jessie (Betty) of Hillsdale, Lupe (Martha) of Leeds Hill, Arkansas, Richard and Jerry both of Toledo, Ohio and Tino (Desi) of Thousand Palms, California; 24 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lillian Cantu and two brothers, Rudy and Manuel Gimenez.
Funeral services for John will be Wednesday. April 14, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Military interment will follow at East Hill cemetery in Jefferson Twp., Michigan. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service.

Joy Newcomer, 66, of Waldron passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at home. She was born on December 28, 1943, in Hudson the daughter of Rex & Mildred (Bavin) Newcomer.
Joy lived most of her life in the Waldron area where she was a graduate of the Waldron High School. Joy earned a teaching degree at Eastern Michigan University. She retired from the Lakeville Community School (near Flint) in 1997, after thirty years of service.
Survivors include her parents, Rex & Mildred Newcomer of Waldron; a sister, Carol (Mike) Newcomer-Cox of Morenci; two brothers, John (Carol) Newcomer of Chantilly, Virginia, and Bill (Nancy) Newcomer of Ada; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on Monday, June 7, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Waldron First Church of Christ with minister Don Crain officiating. Burial will follow at the Waldron cemetery. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 4 until 8 PM at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Waldron First Church of Christ or to the Waldron District Library.

James K. Pontious, 69, of Alvordton, entered into eternal rest late Tuesday night, May 4, 2010, at home under the loving care of his family and hospice. He was born to Kenneth and Esther Pontious in Delta, Ohio on October 9, 1940. Jim married Rose Mary (Repka) Eisel on June 7, 1980, and she survives.
Jim worked for many years as a farm tire serviceman, and particularly enjoyed the years when he was the owner and operator of Jim’s Tire Service. He attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, OH, and was a volunteer member of the Alvordton Fire Department. Jim’s biggest joy was spending time with his family, whether it was working on projects together, playing together, or praying together. He also enjoyed the winters spent in southern Alabama.
In addition to his wife, Rose Mary, he is survived by children and step-children, Sandra (George) Gagle of Pickerington, OH, Ronald (Pat) Eisel of Alvordton, James (Pam) Eisel of West Unity, Robert (Bobbie) Eisel of Alvordton, Randy (Becky) Eisel of Ney, OH, Scott (Michelle) Eisel of Delta, Scott (Jan) Pontious of Wauseon, Shawn Pontious of Alaska, Shannon (Sara) Pontious of Indiana, and Sara (Chris) Bloomer of Wauseon; son-in-law, Robert Momyer of West Unity; mother-in-law, Rose Repka of Delta; two sisters, Betty Hall and Mary Crook, both of California two brothers, Robert Pontious and Richard Pontious both of Wauseon; 37 grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jane Momyer; and father-in-law, Joe Repka.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim Pontious will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette with Rev. Father Gary Ferguson as celebrant. Private interment will take place at a later date at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m., and on Friday from 2-8 p.m., with a scripture prayer service to take place at 7:30 p.m.

Jere Ann Smith, 80, of Osseo, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, at Tendercare in Adrian. She was born July 12, 1929 in Hillsdale to Marlin & Helen (McCloe) Kizer. She was married June 11, 1955 to Rex Smith and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Jere was a graduate of Camden High School, a member of the Osseo United Methodist Church and a former member of the Hillsdale Elks Lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Eben (Ruth) Smith of Cadillac and Eric (Cindy) Smith of Adrian; 3 grandchildren, Jordan, Kristin and Katelyn Smith; 2 sisters, Joan (Richard) Smith of Georgia and Mary Lyn (John) Musselman of Florida; a brother, Robert (Marian) Kizer of Texas; and a sister-in-law, Janice Kizer of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George.

John A. Stemen, 74, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born October 13, 1935 in LaGrange, Indiana to Raliah & Ruth (Lehman) Stemen. He was raised by Rex & Mabelle (Stemen) Francis. John was married June 29, 1957 to Marlene Laser and she preceded him in death Jan. 27, 2000.
John retired from Allied Products when they closed the plant in Hillsdale. He was a graduate of Pittsford High School and had lived most all of his life in the Hillsdale area. He was a member of the Hillsdale Elks Lodge #1575, the Hillsdale Moose Lodge and the Jonesville Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Shawn Stemen of Suttons Bay, MI and Brett Stemen of Clinton Twp., MI; a granddaughter, Sydney (Joel) Hinton and great-granddaughter, Evy Hinton of Eureka, Ca.; a close friend and companion, Linda Gee of Pioneer; sisters, Yvonne (Herb) Black, Stevania "Stevie" Farrell, both of Pittsford, Shirley Hicks of Osseo, Gayle (Robert) Johnston of Hillsdale, Georgia Medlock and Helen Post, both of Coldwater; half sisters, Nancy (Richard) Aker of Coldwater, Vallie Hart of LaGrange,Indiana, Phyllis (Charles) Reynolds of Three Rivers, Charlene (Lionel) Winslow and Sue (Raymond) Riddle, both of Coldwater.
Funeral services for John Stemen will be Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 11:00a.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. Interment will follow at the Lickley Corners cemeteryin Wright Twp. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
