Vicki Plummer, 74, of Morenci passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at home. She was born on November 13, 1935, in Grand Rapids the daughter of Victor & Mary (Kelley) Middleton. On September 2, 1957, in Grand Rapids she married Howard Kiel Plummer Jr. and he survives.

Vicki has lived in Seneca Twp. since May 27, 1999. Vicki earned her BSC in Pharmacy from the University of Michigan in 1957. She was a fourth generation Pharmacist working at South Gate and Taylor retiring after forty years of service. Vicki was a past member of the Dearborn Garden Club, a member of the Morenci Garden Club and a member of the Wednesday Afternoon Book Club.

Besides her husband, Howard "Kiel", she is survived by a son, Howard K. Plummer III of Knoxville, Tennessee; three sisters, Julie (Phillip) Carroll of Ann Arbor, Laura (Ed) Middleton of Vermont, and Jessie (George) Schemm of Georgia; three brothers, Victor (Maris) Middleton of Ohio, Grant (Brenda) Middleton of Grand Rapids and Louis (Erna) Middleton of Saline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Lou Hodel.

At Vicki's request there will be no funeral, visitation or viewing.

Arrangements were through the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee County.

Tamara Lisa Larson
September 4, 1951 - January 30, 2010

Tammy Larson, 58, of Morenci passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at home. She was born on September 4, 1951, in Morenci the daughter of Verne & Virginia (Figy) Scott. On August 13, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, she married Jim Larson and he survives.

Tammy moved to California, when she was around twelve years old and returned to Morenci in 1987.

Besides her husband, Jim, Tammy is survived by a daughter, Lisa Larson of Morenci; a son, Scott Larson of Morenci; and three grandchildren.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jaime Martinez.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 3:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A private burial will take place at the Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of donor's choice.

Elaine A. Pontious
July 22, 1934 - February 28, 2010

Elaine Pontious, 75, of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the University Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on July 22, 1934, in Riga the daughter of Glenn & Ganella (Dressler) Kleindinest Sr. On January 23, 1954, in Morenci she married Rollin Pontious and he survives.

Elaine has lived in the Morenci area most all of her life. She was a graduate of the Blissfield High School class of 1952.

Survivors include six daughters, Cynthia (William) Coleman of Wauseon, Ohio, Nancy (Zeke) Thompson of Morenci, Cathy (Doug) Williams of Morenci, Carol (Matt Dunn) Garcia of Morenci, Tonya (Troy Sanders) Pontious of Morenci, Cheryl Pontious of Burlington, North Carolina; two sons, Charles (Dawn) Pontious of Wauseon and Roger (Teresa) Pontious of Morenci; nineteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three sisters, Marian Lemke of Kalkaska, Dorothy Wilson of Blissfield and Janis (Bill) Miller of Monroe; and one brother, Glenn (Katie) Kleindinest Jr.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and daughter in law, Teresa Pontious.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. James Yatzek officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 2 until 8 PM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of donor's choice.

Eugene C. Garrigan
April 27, 1915 - April 17, 2010

Eugene C. Garrigan, age 94 of Hillsdale, Michigan, formerly of Oak Harbor and Toledo, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Drew's Place of Hillsdale. He was born April 27, 1915 in Put-in-Bay, Ohio to Eugene and Minnetta (Engel) Garrigan.

Eugene graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo. He retired from the City of Toledo automotive parts department in 1975. He was a talented artist and an avid fisherman. Eugene enjoyed gourmet cooking, classical music, and being with family and friends.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include two sisters, Mary Pringle of North Hollywood, California and Minnetta Probert of Hillsdale; many nieces and nephews; and by close friends at Toussaint River, Ohio and Sunrise Beach, Texas.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elizabeth Borough; and five brothers, Louis Fischer, Cleland Fischer, Jerome Garrigan, Edward Garrigan, and John Garrigan.

A celebration of life gathering for Eugene will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County.

Ethel M. McNair
May 14, 1919 - April 26, 2010

Ethel M. McNair, 90, formerly of Hudson, Michigan passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at Country Living in Hillsdale. She was born May 14, 1919, the daughter of Kenneth and Juanita (Babcock) Terrill. She married Charles McNair on June 15, 1940, in Pittsford, Michigan and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1993.

Surviving Ethel are two daughters, Judy McNair of Coldwater, Michigan and Nancy (Robert) Aldrich of Pulaski, New York; two sons, Paul (Janice) McNair of Jonesville, Michigan and Jerry (Pam) McNair of North Adams, Michigan; one daughter in-law, Carol McNair of Jonesville, Michigan; two sisters, Grace Johnson of Adrian, Michigan and Donna Dolson of Jackson, Michigan; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, DeWayne, two sisters, six brothers and one daughter in infancy.

Funeral services for Ethel will be Friday, April 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Eric Sass officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Hillsdale County.

Eunice O. Reed
June 18, 1920 - April 28, 2010

Eunice O. Reed, 89, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the University of Michigan Hospitals & Health Centers in Ann Arbor. She was born June 18, 1920 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Oran & Maud (Boles) Brown. She was married to Harold Davis and he preceded her in death in 1979. She later married Claude Reed on June 8, 1988 and he survives.

Eunice was an active member of the Hillsdale Free Methodist Church. She loved the nature and especially enjoyed bird watching. She and Claude spent the past several winters in Cape Coral, Florida and one of her favorite past times was spending time with her entire family.

Surviving besides her husband Claude are daughters, Gwendolyn (Gene) Fry of Mexico, Missouri, Henreitta Badgley of Plymouth, Michigan, Susan (Mike) Monroe, doing missionary work in Costa Rica and Cindy (Al) Eckhardt of Hillsdale; sons, Bo Davis of Cape Coral, Florida and Phillip (Chris) Reed of Bellaire, Michigan; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Martin of Comstock Park, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Harold, son Jim Reed, a brother Buddy and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Eunice Reed will be Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hillsdale Free Methodist Church with Pastor Keith Porter officiating. Interment will follow at North Lawn cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hillsdale Free Methodist Church, the House of Hope or the charity of the donor's choice.

Gabriel Conant
June 4, 2010

Gabriel Rylan Conant, infant son of Kevin and Jessica (Longman) Conant of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010.

Besides his parents, Gabriel is survived by his grandfather, Steve Longman; his grandfather Kyle Conant; his grandmother Cinda Conant; and several aunts and uncles.

Private family services will take place at a later date. Arrangements for Gabriel Rylan Conant are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Hugh D. Nivison
September 18, 1927 - May 13, 2010

Hugh D. Nivison, 82, of Hillsdale, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. He was born on September 18, 1927 in Branch Co. to Louis and Mabel (Merrick) Nivison. On April 7, 1973, he married Jacqueline (Blaauw) King and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons. Jeff (Mary) Nivison of Jacksonville, Florida; Patrick (Denise) Nivison of Hillsdale; and Todd Nivison, of Flat Rock. A daughter, April (Michael) Freed of Camden; two step daughters, Bambi (Val) Somerlott of Hillsdale and Eve-Maureen King of Frontier. Thirteen grandchildren, Autumn (Chris) Ruhl, Shane (Amanda) Freed, Amber (Iley) Marcum, Nina Nivison, Samantha Somerlott, Jacob Somerlott, Tom (Jamie) Woodburn, Jeb (Stephanie) Morris, Tim Nivison, Jeremy Goodwin, Doug Goodwin, Don (Shelly) VanArsdalen and Darin (Kattie) VanArsdalen. Twelve great-grandchildren, Devin and Brayden Ruhl, Samantha and Alyssa Freed, Jonas Somerlott, Shaun and Katilyn Marcum, and Sydney, Adam and Andrew VanArsdalen. He is also survived by one brother, Lynn Nivison of Richmond, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son and daughter, and two brothers, Richard and Glen Nivison.

Hugh was Asst. Chief of Police in the city of Hillsdale, was an auxiliary deputy with the Hillsdale County Sheriff's department, Director of Security at Hillsdale College and had his own private investigation and security guard agency for 35 years. He took great pride in not having lost any property he guarded. In addition he helped his wife with her expediting company, driving thousands of miles for her business. He also worked for Allied Products many years and was a journeyman foundry worker. He was active in various organizations over the years. Hugh was chaplain at the Elks, Chancellor Commander with the Knights of Pythian, and was active in the Lions and had served on the board of the Moose Lodge. He greatly enjoyed his dogs, lure coursing and racing them in many parts of the country.

Funeral services for Hugh Nivison will be Monday, May 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with J.J. Hodshire officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ilah H. Page
August 19, 1906 - May 4, 2010

Ilah H. Page, 103, formerly of Pittsford, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Carol's Country Haven in Osseo. She was born August 19, 1906 in Williamston, Michigan to Charles & Jennie (Park) Hart. She was married January 1, 1931 to Burnus Page and he preceded her in death in 1990.

Ilah was a retired school teacher. She taught in the Jonesville and the Pittsford School districts. She was a graduate of East Lansing High School and Michigan State University. She lived the majority of her life in Hillsdale County. She was a member of the Pittsford Wesleyan Church and the Pittsford Garden Club. Ilah was a member of the M.E.A., the N.E.A., the Retired Teachers Association and a charter member of the Michigan State Student Grange.

Surviving is a daughter, Betty Lou Peiffer of Jonesville; a son, William (Betty) Page of North Pole, Alaska; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Barbara Hephner, a son-in-law Manuel Peiffer, two great-grandsons, Corey Zoll and Alan Kurtz and four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services for Ilah Page will be Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Douglas Plunkett officiating. Interment will follow at Leonardson cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Pittsford Wesleyan Church or the Ione Gordon Scholarship Fund.
