DeVere Lynk, 91, of Davison, died Sunday (Nov. 25, 2001) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1910, in Otisville, to Edward and Maude (Seeley) Lynk. He married Mary Halpin in Lapeer on Nov. 30, 1936.
He worked at Oakdale Center for 28 years. He was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church for many years, he was a Gleaner. He was married to his wife, Mary for 64 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sisters, Fern Goodrich of California, Dorothy Drowley of Lapeer, Mary (Donald) Vroman of Bonita Beach, Fla.; brother, Donald (Ann) of Lapeer; nephew, Donald Goodrich of California; niece, Sandra Congdon of Lapeer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Stanley Lynk; sister, Marguerite and brothers-in-law, Ed, George and Max.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Building Fund or a mass in DeVere's name. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be 9 a.m., Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison. Rev. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Loretto cemetery, Lapeer.

Virginia Constance Ebert, 89, of Attica, died Nov. 24, 2001.
She was born Feb. 29, 1912, in Detroit, to George and Caroline (Belpash) Coady.
She married Frank Edward Ebert in Detroit on Feb. 28, 1942.
She worked for the Detroit Board of Education and retired in 1978 after 15 years. She was a member of the Redford Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended the Dryden United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Glenn A.) Hill of Attica, Cherie (Kenneth) Moser of Redford, Vicki of Redford; step-children, Lillian (George) Watson of Battle Creek, Frank (Lois) of North Carolina; sister, Adriene Groves of Royal Oak; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Caroline Coady; husband, Frank Ebert; brother, Harold.
Funeral services were held Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at Dryden United Methodist Church, Dryden. Rev. Frederick Timm officiated. Burial was in Acacia Park cemetery, Beverly Hills.

Metamora
Cleota M. Whitehead, 75, of Metamora, died Saturday (Nov. 24, 2001) at Genesys Hospice Care.
She was born June 29, 1926, in Pontiac, to George and Cora (Amy) Vernon. She married Vernis P. Whitehead on Oct. 15, 1945.
Mrs. Whitehead was a cook for GMTC in Pontiac. She enjoyed bingo, art and crafts.
She is survived by her children, Delores Williams of Metamora, Gary (Kong) of Hope, JoAnn (Walter) Leslie of Valparaiso, Ind; grandchildren, David, Robert, Jonathan (Wendy), Michelle and Susan Lamont; great-grandson, Tyrus; brother, Lyle Bud Vernon of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at Bossardet Funeral Home, Oxford. Minister Jonathan Leslie officiated. Burial was in All Saints cemetery.

Leona Ruth Rider

Leona Ruth Rider, 76, of Goodrich (formerly of Lapeer), died Saturday (Nov. 24, 2001) in Burton.
She was born July 6, 1925 in Oxford. She married Claude Rider in Pontiac on Aug. 17, 1943.
She was a loving mother. She not only cared for her own family, but provided food, shelter and clothing for countless others through the years. She will be greatly missed by her loving children.
She is survived by her children, Betty (Russell) Dale of Fla., Robert of Fla., James of Flint, Claude Jr. (Melissa) of Burton, William of Goodrich, Larry of Goodrich, Leonard (Sue) of Melvin; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Bliss of Lake Orion; sisters, Norma (Richard) Boudick of Minn. and Ann Bellhumer of Flordia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Bud Rider in 2000; daughter, Lois; son, Richard; brother, Jerry; and sister, Lois.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held 12-9 p.m., Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at Baird Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer.

John Henry Chaney, 42, of Imlay City, died Nov. 23, 2001.
He was born March 22, 1959, in Pontiac, to Clarence and Donna (Brown) Chaney.
He graduated from Brown City High School, class of 1977. John had been employed by General Motors Truck and Bus in Pontiac. He was a member of the Imlay City First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Clarence and Donna of Imlay City; sisters, Alice (Lacy) Bunt of Imlay City, Pamela of Edinburg, Texas; brothers, Kerry of Davison and Richard of Flint; nieces and nephews, William, Amy, Brandy Quintana, Jacob Bunt, Laura Martinez, Amanda Martinez, Austin Martinez, and David.
Funeral services were held Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Pastor James Sheldrake officiated. Burial was in Burnside Twp. cemetery, Lapeer.

Robert T. Haynes

Lapeer
Robert T. Haynes, 72, of Lapeer, died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001).
He was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Metamora, to Miles Edward and Frances (Metcalf) Haynes. He married Shirley Brooks at the Elba Methodist Church on Feb. 10, 1954.
Mr. Haynes served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a teacher for several years. Robert owned and operated a motel for 17 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Lapeer; children, Diane of Lapeer, Roxanne (Paul) Schillman of Grand Blanc, Mark (Kathy) of Marquette; grandchildren, Jenna Schillman, Derek Schillman, Kevin, Kelly; siblings, Gordon of Grand Rapids, Eva (Charles) Ross of Bastrop, Texas, Bertha Smith of Lapeer, Celia (Kenneth) Hollenback of Burton, Gerald (Sharon) of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Neil.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Calvary Bible Church.
Funeral services were held Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer. Rev. Arnold Bracy and Rev. James Sheldrake officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer with a military graveside service under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.

Lorena M. Gerlinger, 84, of Clermont, Fla. (formerly of Hadley), died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001). She was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Woodland, to Lawrence and Stata M. (Wolcott) Hilbert . She married Loren Gerlinger.
Lorena was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a homemaker. She worked a short time as an X-ray Technician. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont, Fla. and a former member of Trinity Methodist Church, Lapeer.
She is survived by her children, Lorenda M. (Randy) Currey of Lapeer, Loren W. (Kelly) of Saline, Leora E. Hudspeth of Clermont, Fla.; sister, Louise Shorno of Coldwater and Ellen Kenney of Ann Arbor; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Loren Gerlinger.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday (Dec. 2, 2001) at the Woodland Michigan cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

Nancy Jane Minch, 75, of Lapeer (formerly of Metamora and Waterford), died Thursday (Nov. 22, 2001).
She was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Defiance, Ohio, to Chalmer and Wilma (Galloway) Spahr. She married William Paul Minch on Dec. 3, 1944.
Nancy was a member of Deerfield Church of Christ. She volunteered for the local tutoring program, a local probation program and for Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Assault (LACADA). She was a board member for the Wolverine Christian Service Camp, Columbiaville.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Gilbert) Sundquist of Clarkston; son, Steven J.; grandchildren, Cari (Richard) Kocher of Waterford and Jared Sundquist of Clarkston; great-grandson, Jude Sundquist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Minch; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wolverine Christian Service Camp, Columbiaville.
Funeral services were held Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at the Deerfield Church of Christ. Rev. Paul St. Louis officiated. Burial was in Cadillac Memorial Gardens, East, Clinton Twp.
