Clayton Stewart Sheffer, 80, of Dryden, died Friday (Dec. 7, 2001) at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Marlette, to Edward and Bessie (McKee) Sheffer. He married Alice Marie Hunter in Goodells on Feb. 23, 1946.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a dairy farmer in Dryden since 1960. He was a member of the Imlay City American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles, Smiths Creek F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge, Michigan Veterans Trust Fund Board of Trustees and Lapeer County Veterans Affairs Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Dryden; son, Paul (Jennifer) of Dryden; daughter, Joyce (Tim) Muz of Caro; grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Stacey, Ben Muz, Laura Muz and Aaron Muz; step-grandchildren, David Elias and Bernard Elias; step-great-granddaughter, Skyelar Elias.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Bowie and Margaret Maasch.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday (Dec. 12, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Rev. Frederick Timm will officiate. Burial will be in Attica Township cemetery.

Dryden
Clinton P. Foe, 75, of Dryden, died Friday (Dec. 7, 2001) at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Dryden, to Frank and Edith (Reed) Foe.
Mr. Foe was a farmer all of his life in Dryden.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Dryden; sons, Jack (Jernice) of Dryden; Ronald of Dryden and Wayne of Dryden; step-grandchildren, Robert Miller of Lapeer, Mark (Heather) Miller of Dryden and Tricia (Jim) Gray of Flint; step-great-grandchildren, Samantha and Mark Miller and Katherine Winterhalt; sister, June of Salinas, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances; and brother, Ward.
Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Regional Kidney Center, 4200 Beecher Rd, Flint, MI 48532.
Funeral services were held Monday (Dec. 10, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont. Pastor Robert Lewis of the Lapeer Church of the Nazarene officiated.

Allenton
Mauritz B. Massie, 82, of Allenton, died Sunday (Dec. 9, 2001).
He was born May 5, 1919 to James and Ingrid (Bergeson) Massie. He married Marjorie (Kersten) McLaren in Capac on March 20, 1976.
He was a graduate of Almont High School and attended Michigan State University for agriculture. He had worked at Hurd Lock in Almont and the Tank Plant in Warren as well as farming all of his life in Berlin Twp. He attended West Berlin Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Maureen (Al) Hollenbeck of Imlay City, Elaine (Norman) Bandemer of Ada, Karen (Steven) Glombowski of Allenton and David (Elayne) of Allenton; step-children, Mary (Wynn) Klug of Capac, Larry (Denise) McLaren of Port Huron and Gary (Diane) McLaren of Birch Run; grandchildren, Alana (Keith) Brocker, Melisa (Jeff) Clatterbaugh, James Glombowski, Jeff Glombowski, Norman Bandemer II, Marisa Bandemer, Aaron and Jared; 10 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Curtiss of Gobels; nephew, James; 1 great-nephew and 2 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Mary Massie and his brother, Arnold.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Dec. 12, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont. Rev. Ralph Barteld of the West Berlin United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in West Berlin cemetery.

Jean A. Boone

Fostoria
Jean A. Boone, 52, of Fostoria (formerly of Bloomfield Hills Township), died Dec. 3, 2001.
She was born March 24, 1949, on the east side of Detroit, to Clarence and Phyllis (Scheich) Elwart. She married John Boone in Texas on June 11, 1972, then officially in Missawa, Japan on June 15, 1973.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed playing Bingo.
She is survived by her husband, John of Fostoria; son, Mark of Fostoria; daughters, Amy of Waterford, Jill of Fostoria; mother, Phyllis Elwart of Fostoria; 3 grandchildren; brothers, Lee (Marion) Elwart of Novi and Roy Elwart of Ypsilanti.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Elwart in 1982.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were held Friday (Dec. 7, 2001) at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Janusz Iwan officiated. Burial was in Mount Loretto cemetery, Lapeer.

Richard H. Wagner

Davison and Lapeer
Richard H. Wagner, 72, of Davison and Lapeer, died Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Lapeer County, to Alex and Mabel (Richards) Wagner. He married Judith Davis on Feb. 28, 1969.
Richard had been an area farmer his entire life.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Lapeer; daughter, Kathy Guilfoil of Lapeer; son, Richard II of Lapeer; grandchildren, Bradley, Brent and Taylor; as well as many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey Phillips in 1999.
Funeral services were held Friday (Dec. 7, 2001) at Groves Chapel Hansen Funeral Home, Davison. The Rev. Jeremy Selvidge officiated. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.

Ralph Loxly Miller

Ralph Loxly Miller, 88, of North Branch (formerly of Mt. Clemens and Madison Heights), died Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) at the Fisher Convalescent Home, Mayville.
He was born March 23, 1913, in Detroit, to Roy and Hazel (Crosby) Miller. He married Grace Harn.
He worked for Pfeiffer Brewery and the Budweiser Brewery, retiring after 38 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the North Branch American Legion Post #457. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra A. (Vadeboncoeur) Battisti of Salinas, Calif. and Pamela A. (Edward) Leplow of Sterling Heights; son, Alan R. (Laura) of North Branch; sister, Lillian Carroll of Chesterfield Twp.; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace and his parents, Roy and Hazel Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Funeral services were held Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville. Rev. Terry Balogh officiated. Burial was in the Christian Cultural Memorial Center, Rochester.

Fred A. Ratliff

Metamora
Fred A. Ratliff, 79, of Metamora, died Dec. 2, 2001.
He was born April 11, 1922, in Argonne, Wis., to Greenberry and Evelyn (Foss) Ratliff. He married Carolynn Russell in Lapeer on Aug. 10, 1996.
Mr. Ratliff served his country in the United States Army during World War II, receiving two Purple Hearts. He was a bricklayer stone mason for over 50 years and was a member of the Brick Layers Association Union his entire career. Fred was a member of the VFW Post #4139 and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lapeer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Carolynn of Metamora; children, Jeanette (Harry) Kessner of Green River, Wyo., Ann (Richard) Angus of Lapeer, Roger (Linda) of Port Huron, Tim (Blanche) of Imlay City; step-children, William (Shawn) Hauxwell of Lapeer, April (Mike) Dotson of Lapeer; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Leedy of Clarkston and Ruth Klingersmith of Clarkston.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Doll) Ratliff in 1994; parents; and sister, Jo Fisher.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lapeer. The Rev. John Kaiser officiated. Burial was in Mount Loretto cemetery, Lapeer, with a military graveside service under the auspices of the American Legion Post 16 Honor Guard.

Minerva E. Raymond

Minerva E. Raymond, 81, of Marlette (formerly of Imlay City), died Sunday (Dec. 2, 2001) at Marlette Community Hospital, Marlette.
She was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Capac, to Charles and Elsie (Weyer) Hill. She married Ervin Raymond in Capac on May 29, 1937.
Mrs. Raymond was a homemaker and member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lapeer.
She is survived by her sons, Ervin Jr.(Karen) of Lake City, Fla., Dale (Beverly) of Decatur, Ga., Danny (Barbara) of Clifford, Charles (Penny) of Brown City, Lonnie (Cathy) of Brown City; daughters, Beverly (Keith) Clark of Clifford, Elise (Gene) Lamie of Lake Park, Ga., Sherrie (Jim) Hutchinson of Winter Haven, Fla., Pam (Ed) Fuller of Decker, Mary (Johnny) Atkeson of Marlette; 37 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin Raymond on Nov. 17, 1970; brothers, Charles and Joshua Hill; sisters, Lila Harvey and Elise Guenther.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be 1-9 p.m., Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette and 12pm until the time of service, Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at the church.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Rev. Eric Kilmer will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Brown City.
