Leonarda Nordie Baker, 65, of Lapeer, died Monday (July 30, 2001).
She was born June 18, 1936 in Kalamazoo.
She is survived by her children, Craig (Cindy) of Otter Lake, Dewayne (Tina) of Capac and Ricky (Edna) of Winchester, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Renee, Ryan, Allison, Michael, James Beam, Andrew Beam, Donnie; one great-grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pierce of Kalamazoo and Barbara Pierce of Kalamazoo.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry and David Pierce, and her parents.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Friday (Aug. 3) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated.

Margaret Ann Fox

Margaret Ann Peg Fox, 63, of Avon, N.C. (formerly of Lapeer), died Monday (July 30, 2001).
She was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Camden, N.J., to Joseph and Margaret (Jarvis) Parker. She married Robert Fox in Collingswood, N.J. on May 28, 1960.
Peg graduated from Haddonfield High School in New Jersey and earned her B.S. from Albrecht College in 1960. She also earned her nursing degree from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. While residing in State College, PA, Peg was a public school nurse and family planning nurse. During her years in Lapeer, Peg worked primarily for the Lapeer Community Mental Health Department where she was the Supervisor of Day Activity Programs. She served as a board member of LACADA and the Lapeer County Christian Family Services. Peg was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer for 22 years.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Robert Fox of Avon, N.C.; sons, Robert (Becky) of Negaunee, John (Angela) of Ypsilanti; daughter, Anne (Joe) Goss of Lapeer; grandchildren, Kadin, Melissa, Olivia and Jessica; her father, Joseph Parker of Atco, N.J.; and her brother, Jon Parker of Newark, Del.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Parker.

Martha R. Zeismer, 101, of Lapeer (formerly of Lincoln, Neb.), died Sunday (July 29, 2001).
She was born June 14, 1900, in Lincoln, Neb., to Conrad and Elizabeth (Bostrom) Bauer. She married Gustave Zeismer in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Aug. 5, 1923.
She was a lifetime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her son-in-law, William (Mary Ann) Heitsch of Lapeer; grandchildren, Katherine Heitsch, William (Kay) Heitsch, George (Lisa) Heitsch, John (Julie) Heitsch; great-grandchildren, Shannon Heitsch, Brandon Heistch, Joshua Heitsch, Cory Heitsch, Elizabeth Heitsch, Steven Heitsch, Emily Heitsch; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustave Zeismer in 1972; daughter, Marjorie Lou Heitsch in 1963; great-grandson, Todd Heitsch in 1988; parents; siblings, infant John Bauer, Samuel Bauer, Henry Bauer, Pauline, Marie, Otto Bauer, Edward Bauer and Herman Bauer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lapeer.
Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Thursday (Aug. 2, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.

Elaine (Young) Miller

Elaine (Young) Miller, 77, of Oxford (formerly of Lapeer area), died Sunday (July 29, 2001).
She was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Lapeer, to Vernon and Mildred (Stiles) Herman.
Elaine was a member of Thomas United Methodist Church of Oxford. She was most importantly a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Barbara) Young of Arkansas, Glenn (Teresa) Young of Oxford, Diane (John) Hermann of Davison, Larry (Sherry) Young of Columbiaville, Sam (Fay) Young of Tennessee, honorary daughter, Linda (Steve) Winchell; step-children, Earl, Sharon, Arthur; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Irene) Herman of Auburn Hills, John Jack (Shirley) Herman of Metamora; brother-in-law, Dick VanWagnen and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold R. Young in 1971; second husband, Charles Cleaver in 1992; third husband, James Miller in 1998; parents; sister, Norma VanWagnen and four child aged brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice or Thomas United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Aug 1, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Mary Margaret Eckhardt will officiate. Burial will be held in Dawn Memorial cemetery, Elba.

Ruby J. Russell

Ruby J. Russell, 91, of Lapeer, died July 28, 2001.
She was born March 18, 1910, in Stone Fort, Ill., to Alvin and Clara (Evetts) Nicholson. She married Neuman Russell.
She received her teaching certificate from Lapeer County Normal. She was an arts and craft teacher at the Lapeer State Home, retiring over 20 years ago. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Suncrest Auxiliary. She had attended the Lapeer Apostolic Church.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Ruth) of Burton; two grandchildren, Hedi (Brent) Berry of Flushing and Cari (John) Gibbons of Grand Blanc; siblings, Lloyd Nicholson of Carrier Mills, Ill., Margaret Rosenkilde of California, Velma Hall of Stone Fort, Ill., and Thelma Whitesides of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neuman, on April 18, 1978; parents; and five siblings, Bonnie Paden, Ruth Church, Betty Richardson, James Nicholson and Earl Nicholson.
Funeral services were held Monday (July 30, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Gary Beck officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Floyd H. Vollweiler

Floyd H. Vollweiller, 89, of Millington, died Sunday (July 28, 2001) at Tuscola County Medical Facility.
He was born June 23, 1912, in Lapeer County, to John Henry and Lilly (Leach) Vollweiller. He married June Baxter.
He retired as an owner of a Service Station in Clifford after 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, June of Millington; children, Floyd of Mayville, Ed (Barbara) of Texas, Don (Joyce) of Otisville, Sheralyn Derrick of Imlay City, Doris Maple of Texas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie; brother, Milton; sisters, Mary, Rosa, Neva and Gladys.
Memorial contributions may be made to Forget-Me-Not Club at Tuscola County Medical Facility.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2001) at Hudson Funeral Home, Otisville. Rev. Bill McKown will officiate. Burial will be held in Rich cemetery, Mayville.

Lloyd Wesley Mobley

Lloyd Wesley Mobley, 82, of Oxford, died Saturday (July 28, 2001) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1919, in Rector, Arkansas, to Minnie and Cullen Harris Mobley. He married Evelyn (Shaver) Robinson in Silverwood United Methodist Church on June 21, 1975.
He was a long time resident of Lapeer and Tuscola Counties. He was the Principal Broker at the Red Bird Realty Agency of Lapeer. He was known throughout the country for his training of Tennesee Walking Horses at Red Bird Farms of Oxford. He was a lifetime member of Walking Horse Association of Michigan. He enjoyed showing horses and field trials for dogs. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Mary Jane (Edward) Caustin of Arroyo Grande, CA., Billie Jeane Williamson of McMinnville, OR., Lloyd Wesley Jr. (Linda) of Berthoud, CO., Susan Robinson of Columbiaville, William (Tammy) Robinson of Mayville, Shelley (Ron) Clark of Columbiaville; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill of Rector, Arkansas and Donald of Tusla, Okla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday (Aug 1, 2001) at the Silverwood United Methodist Church, Silverwood. Pastor Ron Hutchinson will officiate. Burial will be held in Rich Township cemetery.

Joanna J. Bower, 58, of Clifford, died Tuesday (Oct. 23, 2001) at Dickinson Co. Medical Hospital, Iron Mountain.
She was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Pontiac, to Bron and Pauline (Fasczcewski) Bazan. She married Gary Bower in Clifford on Nov. 9, 1963.
She graduated from Marlette High School in 1960.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; mother, Pauline Lunn of Decker; sons, Timothy (Georgina) of Marlette, Michael (Ronda) of Marlette; daughters, Stacey (John) Discher of Harrison Twp., Michelle (Mitchell) Schrader of Capac; ten grandchildren; and special friends Michael (Susan) Cutts of Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her father Bron Bazan.

A memorial service was held Monday (Oct. 29, 2001) at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. The Rev. Jude Ellinghausen officiated. Cremation has taken place at Escanaba Wilbert Crematory, Escanaba.
