Deena Jamerson, 28, of Lapeer, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001).

She was born Sept. 1, 1973, at KI Sawyer Air Force Base, MI, to Bill and Janet (Arms) Jamerson.

She graduated from Lapeer West High School, class of 1991. She attended Baker Business College. She had worked at the Sunrise Convenience Store in North Branch and the Clark Station in Lapeer. She had been working as a Client Service Assistant for Quest Diagnostic.

She is survived by her parents, Bill and Janet of Lapeer; sister, Janell (Michael) Hutchinson of North Branch; nephew, Keith; niece, Mercedez; Grandmother, Glenna of Rochester Hills; Grandparents, Joseph and Lois Arms of Oxford.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, George.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

Funeral services were held Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was held in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Maxine Ayers
Died: Tuesday, October 30, 2001
Age: 73

Lapeer

Maxine Ayers, 73, of Lapeer (formerly of Sault Ste Marie), died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001).

She was born November 20, 1927, in Pontiac, to Samuel and Bernadine (Sutherland) Overbaugh. She married Virgil Ayers in March of 1946.

She was formerly a Co-Owner of King Tut's Bar in Eckerman. She was a member of the American Legion. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sewing and painting. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.

She is survived by her children, Sonja (Richard) LaBarge of Lapeer, Howard of Arizona, Teri (Mark) Nardelli of West Bloomfield, Shirley (Randall) Wright of Waterford, Betty (Mickey) Wright of Lapeer and John (fiancˇ, Vickey Smith) of Lapeer; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Dodi) Overbaugh of Pontiac, Louise (Louis) Griffith of North Carolina and Jim Overbaugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ayers in March of 1946; sisters, Maggie Collier and Mary Overbaugh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McLaren Hospice Services, 237 Davis Lake Road, Lapeer, MI 48446.

Funeral services were held Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) at the Ottawa Park cemetery Chapel, Clarkston.

Thibault LaSalle
Died: Monday, October 29, 2001
Age: 35

Flint

Thibault Ti LaSalle, 35, of Flint (formerly of San Diego, Calif. and Pontiac), died Monday (Oct. 29, 2001).

He was born Nov. 4, 1966, in Pontiac, to Michael and Sandra (Hrymecki) O'Berry.

Ti is now walking in peace. He was a Native American Indian who truly lived in the Native Spirit by giving from his heart unconditionally to one and all. He had many contributions to his life here on Mother Earth. He was an Activist for Aids Awareness and contributed alot of his time to the Indian Community. He also did volunteer work with the Wellness Network Center in Flint. Ti touched our hearts with is giving and caring to both family and community.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra (Ray) Wickstrom of Columbiaville; father, Michael O'Berry of Hernando, Fla.; grandmother, Virginia Hrymecki of Caro; siblings, Dan O'Berry, Jr., Kara (Guy) Caswell of Caro, Alicia O'Berry of Caro; nephews, Duane Rupert O'Brien II, William Michael O'Briein and Jacob Caswell; niece, Brandy Caswell; great nephew, Duane Dewey O'Brien III.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Marie O'Berry and Walter Hrymecki.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Traditional Tribal Ceremonies began at sunrise on Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) until sunset on Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001), for more information call (989)672-2458.

Harold Hill
Died: Monday, October 29, 2001
Age: 77

Imlay City

Harold Hill, 77, of Imlay City, died Monday (Oct. 29, 2001) at the McLaren Regional Medical Center, Flint.

He was born March 27, 1924, in Green, to Gust and Edith (Kivela) Hill.

Harold married Katherine Johanna Smith in Glaveston, Texas on Aug. 11, 1950.

He grew up in the upper peninsula and graduated from the Ontonagon High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII. He returned and graduated from Michigan State University. During his career, he worked for a milk dairy in Sturgis, the Swifts Dairy in Holland and the Michigan Milk Producers Association plants in Imlay City and in Detroit. All together he spent 30 plus years as a Lab Technician with Michigan Milk Producers. He was a life member of the Imlay City V.F.W.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine of Imlay City; daughter, Vickie (Patrick) Bohinski of Saginaw; sons, Timothy (Sherry) of Imlay City, Terry of Imlay City; brother, Ralph (Hilma) of Ontonagon; grandchildren, Christopher (Deanne) Bohinski, Andrew Bohinski, Jennifer Bohinski, Benjamin (Fiancˇ, Jennifer Kohler), Nathan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Edith Hill; sisters, Lempi Koski and Lillian Hokkanen.

Funeral services were held Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Rev. Douglas Asomoa of the Imlay City Congregational United Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in the Imlay Township cemetery.

Charles Allen McCalpin
Died: Sunday, October 28, 2001
Age: 69

Charleston, S.C.

Charles Allen McCalpin, 69, of Charleston, S.C., died Sunday (Oct. 28, 2001).

He was born Aug. 17, 1932, in Saginaw, to George Henry and Margaret (Newman) McCalpin. He married Karen Alpers in Detroit on Aug. 10, 1990.

He was employed at Chrysler for many years and retired in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of Charleston, S.C.; children, Mark of Arizona, Valerie (Todd) Wolgast of Columbiaville, Brett of Lapeer, Donald of Milan, Jay (Kim) of Lapeer; step-children, Angela (Dan) Dyke of Shelby Twp., Andrew (Connie) McGlynn of Riley Twp., Molly (Shawn) Emmendorfer of Mt. Clemens, Terrilynn (Thomas) Primeau of Ferndale; sister, Elenor Lang of St. Cloud, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, 3896 Leeds Ave., N. Charleston, S.C., 29405 or Old St. Andrew Parish, Ashley River of Charleston, S.C. 29414.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) at Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer. A luncheon will follow the service. The. Rev. George Tompkins will officiate. Burial will be in Chesaning Memorial Gardens.

Reta L. Calkins
Died: Sunday, October 28, 2001
Age: 81

Lapeer

Reta L. Calkins, 81, of Lapeer (formerly of Clarkston and Lake City), died Oct. 28, 2001.

She was born March 19, 1920, in Lake City, to George and Rosa Anna (Feldpausch) Marris. She married Nelson E. Calkins.

Reta attended the Lake City Methodist Church. She loved shuffle board, square dancing and traveling in the family travel trailer. Reta was a loving mother, grandmother and wife.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Gordon) Cascaddan of Townsend, Mont.; son, Dean (Katherine) of Lapeer; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Morris and Daisy (Doyle) Clark both of Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Calkins; her parents; sisters, Betty and Roseann.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Heartland Hospice.

Funeral services were held Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) at Country Christian Church, North Branch. Pastor Roger Keur officiated. Burial was in Christian Memorial cemetery, Rochester Hills.

Richard Lanier Chapman
Died: Saturday, October 27, 2001
Age: 70

Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Richard Lanier Chapman, 70, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. (formerly of Dearborn), died Oct. 27, 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Julie (Dan) Cousineau of Lapeer; grandchildren, Amber, Christopher, Kala and Shaine; sisters, Louise Seltz of Traverse City and Margaret Rush of Oscoda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Nancy Fyfe.

A private service and burial will be held at Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Irma Leah Andress
Died: Saturday, October 27, 2001
Age: 95

Macomb, Okla.

Irma Leah Andress, 95, of Macomb, Okla., died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001).

She was born Oct. 3, 1906, in Metamora Twp., to Ellery and Rose( Thom) Kurtz.

She married Harold Andress of Metamora on Feb. 19, 1927.

After graduation from Lapeer County Normal Teachers College, She taught school in Dryden Twp. Irma and her husband owned and operated a gas station and grocery business in East Tawas together. After moving to Oklahoma in 1960, Harold became a building contractor and Irma a bookkeeper and homemaker. After her husbands death in 1973, Irma cared for many family members who were ill or in need. She has resided near her daughter in Macomb, Okla., since 1983. Irma was an active member of the Congregational Church in Metamora and later in the Harrah Free Will Baptist Church, Harrah, Okla. Her many interests included traveling, reading, homemaking, gardening and sharing her gift of writing, especially poetry. Many poems were requested of her to honor a special event or person. She enjoyed sending and receiving cards and letters. Every family member and numerous friends received anniversary, birthday and special occasion messages from her. Each was made to feel special. Irma will be remembered for the great love and devotion she gave to her family, extended family and friends. Her indomitable spirit, generous heart, keen wit and celebration of life remain. Irma was a beloved mother, grandmother, great and great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her children, Arlene (Vincent) Robbins of Fresno, Calif., Elaine Clarambeau of Moncks Corner, S.C., Rosemary Coulter of Port Hope, Harold (Peg) of Vienna, Va., Howard (Shirley) of Waterford, Joyce (Wes) May of Macomb, Okla., Joan (Ken) Rollin of Eaton, Co., Cathy (Jerry) Taylor of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, William Bill Kurtz of Waterford; 33 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Harold; parents; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Moore, Wilma Boomer, Jane Sorrell and Maxine Gibson; brothers, Donald Kurtz and Carl Kurtz.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shawnee Regional Hospice.

Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m., Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Burial will be at Metamora cemetery.
