Joseph Tallian, 80, of Lapeer (formerly of Milford), died Dec. 28, 2001.
He was born June 5, 1921, in Pontiac, to Joseph and Emily (Westlake) Tallian. He married Wayfu Houston in Angola, Ind. on Dec. 26, 1947.
Mr. Tallian served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had worked for Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Wayfu of Lapeer; daughter, Sandra (Mark) Hoard of Lapeer; grandchildren, April (Mark) Flowers, Robert Wagnitz; great-grandchildren, Keegan Flowers, Amber Flowers; brother, Thomas (Lois) of Royal Oak.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Grace Ingram; brother, Robert.

Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2001 at the White Chapel cemetery, Troy. Burial was in White Chapel cemetery, Troy.

Carol Ann Burgess-Purves, 40, of Swartz Creek, died Dec. 28, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 27, 1961, in Lapeer, to Everett Garfield and Donna Joy (Fritch) Burgess.
She resided in Swartz Creek and was raised in Lapeer. Carol was a researcher and programmer for iCan.com and previously worked at Wal-Mart in Flint Twp. She was the strength of the family and always the first to give a hug. She had a sweet spirit. Her optimism and cheerful outlook will be greatly missed. She is survived by her life partner, Carol Ann Purves; 4 siblings, Mike (Sandy) Burgess of Columbiaville, John (Karen) Burgess of Lapeer, Pam Morenzetti of Grand Blanc, Bill Burgess of Swartz Creek; nieces and nephews, Kari, Bev, Heather, Tom, Holly, Tim; loving God daughter, Lauren Goss; very special friends, Aaron (Ingrid) Hanson-Goss; her extended church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2001 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Flint. Rev. Nuyra Parish officiated and Ann Broskie co-officiated. Burial was in Sunset Hills cemetery.

Tara Sue (Robb) Irvan, 27, of Lapeer (formerly of Montrose), died Dec. 19, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 28, 1974, in Flint, to Terry and Karen Sue (Cousineau) Robb. She married Jacob Irvan in Clio on Sept. 23, 2000.
Tara had resided in the Lapeer area for the past 2 years. She enjoyed cooking and cross stitching.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob of Lapeer; parents Terry and Sue Robb of Montrose; grandparents, Clarence Robb, Urlene Cosineau, Robert and Eleanor Barker and Minnie Ann; mother-in-law, Sandra Kay Barker; brother-in-law, Robert William Barker and sister-in-law, Brandy Ann Barker; many dear friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at the Messiah Lutheran Church. Rev. Erwin Kostizen officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Donald Tracy, 73, of Oak Beach (formerly of Cass City and Attica), died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2001).
He was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Ann Arbor and raised by foster parents, John and Mae (Finely) Ross. He married Betty Jean McCallum in Croswell on Sept. 4, 1948.
Donald worked for Western Electric (now Lucent Technologies) for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He also farmed part time. He was a member of the Men's Club in Buena Vista, Fla. and the Shuffleboard Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Bonnie (Bill) Topham, Kathy (Bob) Morningstar, Judy (David) Keller; grandchildren, Cindy Laur, Dawn (Kirk) Chandler, Patty (Pat) Humbach, Michael (Krista) Morningstar, Mellissa (Jeff) Mathewson, Adrainne (Justin Jamer) Keller, Lesley Keller; great-grandchildren, Jeff, Katie, Bobby, Randi, Brianna, Bryce, Zachary and Layna; special nephew Jimmy (JoAnn Fulayter); many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, William; foster sisters, Arlene Brown, Helen Fulayter; foster brother, Tom Kimberlin.

Crystal Sager

Crystal Cris Sager, 76, of Madison Twp., died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2001).
She was born June 27, 1925, in Hudson, to Carl and Beatrice (Beatty) Deisler. She married Arden Sager on May 23, 1944.
She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Margery and Maurice Griffin. She graduated from Lyons High School on May 23, 1944, the same day she married Arden. Cris owned and operated the Twins Dairy Grill for many years. She died at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, playing the slot machines and going camping with her husband and family. Since Arden retired they spent the past 16 years at their winter home in Mesa, Ariz.
She is survived by her husband, Arden; children, Richard (Vicky) of Lapeer, Judy (Jim) Smith of Adrian, Peggy of Adrian and Jack (Janet) of Sand Creek; her foster daughter, Ruth Ann Sutton of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Juanita Fenkell of Canton, Fayma (Walter) Johnson of Clark Lake, Wanda (Homer) Donaldson of Adrian, Wavah (Gordon) Deline of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren, Kayleen Beacom, Stacia Hedrick, Shane, Amanda and Shawn, Tonya Walker, Kimberly Britt, Yvonne Sanders, Karen Austin and David Smith, Libby and Lance; 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle, Margery and Maurice Griffin; brothers, Rayvon and Dr. Rex Deisler; grandson, Jimmy Smith; great-grandchildren, Elani and Stephanie Sanders.

Mildred F. Lovell

Mildred F. Lovell, 90, of Almont (formerly of Rochester, Detroit and Mt. Clemens), died Dec. 18, 2001.
She was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Detroit, to William R. and Emily (Hagaman) Semann. She married Russell Lovell in 1930.
For many years, along with her husband Russell, they owned and operated the Almont Elevator Grain Company in both Almont and Imlay City.
She is survived by her niece, Doris (Charly) Supernaw of Florida along with her children, Cathy McCaffrey of Marysville and Robert (Joan) Supernaw of Rochester Hills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lovell in 1984.

Guadalupe Contreras

Guadalupe Contreras, 56, of North Branch, died Monday (Dec. 17, 2001) at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
He was born Dec. 11, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, to Leon and Rafela (Grando) Contreras. He married Denise Peczko in Lapeer on July 4, 1979.
He graduated from Imlay City High School in 1962 and attended Baker College in Flint. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Mr. Contreras owned and operated M.A.D. Cycles in Lapeer for 12 years and worked for the State of Michigan as a Veterans Representative since 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; son Anthony of North Branch; mother, Rafela of Clifford; brothers Martin (Ann) of Clifford, Robert of Lapeer, Raymond of Sandusky, Leon Jr., (Barbara) of Pontiac; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Contreras.

Lloyd C. Ellgass
Died: Sunday, December 16, 2001
Age: 74
Dryden
Lloyd C. Buck Ellgass, 74, of Dryden, died Dec. 16, 2001 at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1927, in New Castle, Pa., to Joseph and Jenny (Thompson) Ellgass.
He served with the 82nd Airborne during WWII. He was a police officer, volunteer firefighter and a local electrical contractor for 35 years. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1996. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and Past Master of the Almont/Dryden F & AM Lodge #51 as well as a member of the Legion of Honors with the Elf Karauffe Temple of the Shriners. Buck will be sadly missed by his wife, Bonnie of 54 years, as well as his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, N.M. Bonnie of Dryden; daughter, Bonea Trott of North Branch; son, L.R. Buck (Missy) of Dryden; granddaughters, Regenia (Craig) Porter of Brown City, Maria (Skip) Showler of Dryden, Heather (Ed) Dykshorn of Hubert, N.C. and Destiny of Dryden; grandsons, Rick Trott and Rob Trott of North Branch and Levi and Jarad of Dryden; great-granddaughters, Carrington and Sabrina Porter of North Branch; great-grandson, Cameron Dykshorn of Hubert, N.C.; brother, Kevin Jeffries.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; son-in-law, Charlie Trott.
Funeral services were held Friday (Dec. 21, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont. Pastor Timothy Curtis of Bethel Baptist Church, Dryden, officiated.
