Beaverton

Max E. Howell, 81, of Beaverton (formerly of Otter Lake and Otisville), died Jan. 6, 2002 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Otter Lake, to Hugh and Millie (Knickerbocker) Howell.
Max was an avid matchbox car collector, enjoyed hunting, working on his farm and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Edwina Welch-Debow of Gladwin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Manwaring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002) at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002) at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville. Rev. James Paige will officiate. Burial will be in Meadowview cemetery.

Shirley A. Louwsma
Died: Friday, January 04, 2002
Age: 68

Spring Hill, Fla.

Shirley A. Louwsma, 69, of Spring Hill, Fla., died Jan. 4, 2002, at the Hernado Hospice Care Center, Brooksville, Fla.
She was born in Lapeer.
She was a resident of Capac and Imlay City for many years. She moved to Florida 15 years ago. She was a retired housekeeper for Ferguson Rest Home in Lapeer and a member of the Capac United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, William; daughter, Diane Stewart of Hudson, Fla.; son, Douglas Fulton of Tulsa, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn E. Fulton in 1990.
Funeral services were at Brewer and Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Services in Brooksville, Fla.

Frances Louise Ramsey
Died: Friday, January 04, 2002
Age: 88

Lapeer

Frances Louise Ramsey, 88, of Lapeer, died Jan. 4, 2002.
She was born May 25, 1913, in Lapeer, to Benjamin and Grace (Brower) Thorne. She married Gondre Doc Ramsey on Aug. 25, 1940.
Mrs. Ramsey graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1931. She was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper in Lapeer and Flint. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Rochelle of Mecosta; nephews, Robert Thorne of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Charles Vickery of Lapeer; nieces, Sally (Ted) Johnson of Lapeer, Susan Getty of Lapeer, Jacqueline (Patrick) Massey of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Helen of Lapeer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gondre Doc Ramsey; brothers, Richard Thorne and Harold Ben Thorne; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or charity of your choice.
Funeral services were held Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. James Sheldrake officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Paul M. Feehan
Died: Friday, January 04, 2002
Age: 96

Metamora

Paul M. Feehan, 96, of Metamora, died Jan. 4, 2002.
He was born May 15, 1905, in Shinrone County, Offalay, Ireland, to John and Mariah (Geoghian) Feehan. He married Nancy Ayer in Detroit on July 12, 1954.
Mr. Feehan served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Professional Horseman, involved in the Metamora Hunt his entire life. Paul was the leader of the gate crowd during the hunts. He was a member of the St. Cornelius Church in Dryden and the Professional Horseman's Association. Paul owned and operated the Erin Farms of Metamora.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Metamora; children, Paul (Joann) of Attica, Hilary Gordon of Edwards, Colo., Sean (Melissa) of Dryden, Theresa of Lapeer; 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Checks made payable to Nancy Feehan.
Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at St. Cornelius Church, Dryden. Father Wayne Ureel officiated. Burial was in Metamora cemetery, Metamora.

Donald N. Beck
Died: Friday, January 04, 2002
Age: 37

Bruce Crossing

Donald N. Beck, 37, of Bruce Crossing, died Friday (Jan. 4, 2002).
He was born Oct. 5, 1964, in Flint, to Donald A. and Linda (Foor) Beck.
He graduated from Lapeer West High School in 1983. Don served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1983 to 1987 at MCAS New River in Jacksonville, N.C. He was employed at Nagle Lumber in Land O' Lakes and was an avid hunter, fisherman and reader.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Linda Beck of Ewen; son, Zachary; brothers, Kevin (Melissa) of Fulton, Kurt of Calumet; sister Dawn Harris of Calumet; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Funeral services were held Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2002) at Wandersee Funeral Home, Bruce Crossing. Fr. Thomas Valayathil officiated.

Donna (Stephens) Smith

Donna (Stephens) Smith, 48, of National City (formerly of Fostoria), died Friday (Jan. 4, 2002).
She was born April 15, 1953, in Flint, to Robert and Mae Dawn (Dee) Stephens. She married Terry L. Smith in Fostoria on June 19, 1971.
Donna graduated from Mayville High School in 1971. She was a life long resident of the Fostoria area. She was a member of the F.H.A. and worked for Ligon Brothers Industry's in Almont and Save a Lot grocery store in East Tawas before going home to be with the Lord.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; son, Terry D. of National City; daughters, Tammy of Davison, Michelle of North Branch, Linda (Michael) Gemma of Norfolk, Va.; parents, Robert and Mae Dawn (Dee) Stephens of Columbiaville; brothers, Roger (Celia) Stephens of Davison, Gary (Janeene) Stephens of Millington, Terry Stephens of Otter Lake; sister, Barbara (Charles) Harris of Elcajon, Calif; brother-in-law, Calvin Perez of Santee, Calif; grandchildren, Kala, Tyler, Austin, Zachary and Kyra.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Garth Stephens; and sister, Marie Perez.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. Rev. Keith Mead officiated. Burial was in Watertown Twp. cemetery, Fostoria.

William G. McCrory

William G. Gale McCrory, 85, of Ortonville, died Friday (Jan. 4, 2002).
He was married to his wife Jane for 51 years. Mr. McCrory retired from Buick Motors in 1975 after 28 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Virginia England of Ortonville, Mary Jane (Dennis) Oscendosky of Hadley, Susan Garrison of Topeka, Ind., William Bud (Ginger) of Metamora; sister, Mildred Jankowski; brother-in-law, Jean; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Les; and his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at Sherman Wilk Funeral Home, Ortonville. Pastor Richard Geigert officiated. Burial was in Seymour Lake cemetery.

Fern I. Indish, 61, of Davison, died Thursday (Jan. 3, 2002) at Hurley Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Kline, Kim (Carl Jr.) Teachout, Frank Jr. (Lori); 5 grandchildren; mother, Helen Kline; siblings, Al (Lorri) Kline, Leland (Janet) Kline, Edward Kline, Michael Kline, Ken Kline, Jack (Mary) Selleck; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Leo; and sister, Barbara.
A memorial service was held Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2002) at Hudson Funeral Home Inc., Otisville. Rev. Bill McKown officiated.
