Carolyn M. Baldwin

Lapeer

Carolyn M. Baldwin, 80, of Lapeer, died Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2002).
She was born Aug. 13, 1921 to Roy and Reba (DeGroat) Moore. She married John D. Baldwin in Detroit on Feb. 8, 1941.
Mrs. Baldwin was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where she was active on the funeral luncheon committee. She also helped on many local charity campaigns, including the American Lung Association, M.A.D.D., Mother's March for the March of Dimes and was active as a 4-H Leader. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting, needle-point, gardening, reading, cooking, crossword puzzles, tropical fish and working with her 1939 Lapeer High School class reunion committee. For several years she worked in a number of positions in her family owned Lapeer Hardware Store. Mrs. Baldwin enjoyed spending time with her family, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, John Baldwin of Lapeer; daughters, Catherine (Milton) Hodgson of Lapeer, Cristyn (Frank) Sucato of Phoenix, Ariz., Cheryl Baldwin of Lapeer; grandchildren, Meredith (Brian) Diatchun, Milton (Sharon) Hodgson, Victoria Sucato and Peter Sucato; brother, Leland (Veray) Moore of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Olaf Moore.
Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or Lapeer Medical Care Facility.
Funeral services were held Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Douglas Terrien officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery.

Marie H. Stoll
Died: Monday, January 07, 2002
Age: 76

Gaylord

Marie H. Stoll, 76, of Gaylord (formerly of Imlay City), died Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at Ostego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.
She was born May 6, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Andrew and Harriett Unze.
Marie moved to Gaylord in 1988.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Frederick (Annette) of Humble, Texas, Steven of St. Clair Shores, Patricia (Donald) Walker of Marion, Ind., Theresa (Marc) Heistand of Dewitt; grandchildren, John, Joe and Molly; sister, Dorothy Ripple of Gladwin; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan, through the Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center, Gaylord, MI 49735.
Funeral services were held Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at St. Mary Cathedral, Gaylord. Father Garth Hilmer officiated. Burial was held Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Donald Harrison Currie
Died: Monday, January 07, 2002
Age: 70

Lapeer

Donald Harrison Currie, 70, of Lapeer, died Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Donald and Edna Currie.
He lived in Lapeer most of his life. Mr. Currie was a member of the Lapeer VFW Post 4149, American Legion Post 16 and Flint Slovene Home. He served in the Marines in the Artillery Division. He was also a Korean War Veteran, 2nd 8-inch Howitzer Battery, where he received a Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was employed by GM where he retired from in 1988. He was a member of UAW Local 659.
He is survived by his sons, Donald K. of Lapeer, Scott A. of Clawson, Edwin J. of Tempe, Ariz.; brothers, Wayne (Judy) of Texas, Robin (Judy) of Lapeer, Gary (Pam) of Howell; grandson, Donald K. Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Edna Currie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Allen Funeral Home, Davison. Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiated. Burial was in Davison cemetery with a military graveside service conducted by the Davison VFW Post 4087.

Donald V. Tanner
Died: Monday, January 07, 2002
Age: 71

Placida, Fla.

Donald V. Tanner, 71, of Placida, Fla. (formerly of Davison), died Monday (Jan. 7, 2002).
He was born May 16, 1930, in Flint, to Robert and Alice (Richards) Tanner. He married Patricia Pailthorp on Dec. 10, 1949.
He served in both the U.S. Army and the Air Force. Don attended Mott Community College and GMI. He retired from A C Spark Plug in 1978. He was Divisional Chief of Security for Flint, Milwaukee and Wichita Falls. He was a member of Genesee County Law Enforcement, Masonic Lodge #174, Elks and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Florida; children, Kay (John) Forys of Davison, Mark (Gail) of Davison; grandchildren, Brooke, Stacey and Megan; siblings, Richard of Englewood, Fla., Agnes Barrick of Lapeer, Jan Carter of Grand Blanc, Barbara Oliver of Flushing; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or Hospice.

Kenneth Leonard Crowel
Died: Monday, January 07, 2002
Age: 70

Destin, Fla.

Kenneth Leonard Crowel, of Destin, Fla., died Monday (Jan. 7, 2002).
He was born March 25, 1931, in Almont, to Robert and Lennie Crowel. He married Sally Smith on Nov. 11, 1961.
Ken was co-owner of Crowel Trucking Inc., in Almont, for 36 years. He made his home in Almont until 1994, then he and his wife moved to Destin. His testimony of great faith, humor and positive attitude will be remembered forever by all who loved and cared for him during his courageous two year battle with lung cancer. Ken will be remembered for his love of life and for never meeting a stranger. He was always willing to help and take time to listen. He was able to overcome adversity by putting his trust in the Lord. He was an active member of St. John's Church, in Dryden, for 25 years. He was a member of the Michigan Trucking Association where he served as a board member. He was a member of the Michigan Limited Carriers Association, a member of the American Trucking Association and a member of the Almont Lions Club. When he moved to Destin, he became a member of St. Andrews by the Sea. He will be missed by his best friend and loving wife of 40 years. He will be missed by his grand-nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart, each and everyone of them. He had a circle of wonderful friends and extended family in Rick (Cindy) Bever of Destin, Fla. Their prayers, love and support, played an intragel part in his courageous battle.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; mother-in-law, Gladys Smith of Lapeer; sister, Jean Wagner of Lapeer; brother, Earl and family of Almont; nephews, Terry (Denice) Wagner of Davison, Chris (Heidi) Wagner of Davison, Barry (Kathleen) Smith of Davison, Mark (Carolyn) Dougherty of Flushing, Todd (Lisa) Dougherty of Lapeer, Michael Jr. (Amy) Dougherty of Lapeer, Danny (Tammy) of Lapeer, Marty (Marcie) Unger of Richland Hills, Texas, Joey (Casey) Fisherand of Anaheim, Calif.; nieces, Linda Edwards (friend, Larry) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nancy (Jim) Cooley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Shelley (Andy) Engyster of Lapeer, Lisa (Richard) Bradshaw of McKinney, Texas and Susan Fisher of Anaheim, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Sue (Mike) Dougherty of Lapeer, Sherry (Earl) Boyden of Lapeer, Kathy Fisher of California, Sarah Smith of Panama City Beach, Fla.; 24 grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Ralph Wagner and Ronald Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church, Dryden.
Visitation will be held 12-9 p.m., Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont.
Funeral services will be held Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at St. Johns Church, Dryden, followed by a reception at Lennie Millers in Dryden.

Richard B. Vore, 60, of Davisburg, died Jan. 6, 2002.
Richard passed away after a long battle with cancer. He retired from General Motors as General Supervisor of Metal Form Fab.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Kathy (Leo Hedger) Hoig of Clifford, Cece (Greg) Treece of Davisburg, Jodi (Dave) Paul of Davisburg, Terry (Sandy Flury) VanOrman, Jr. of Waterford and Tim (Donna Rodriguez) VanOrman of Clarkston; extended family, Donnie Hart of South Carolina, Rhonda (Chad) Ferguson and Sidney of Yale; grandchildren, Derek, Dylan, Abigail, Justin, Jessica, Ryan, Nicholas, Hailey, Chelsea, Michelle, Christopher, Melissa, Alexa, Ashley and Cole; parents, Fred and Ruby Nation of Kentucky and Gladys Vore of Arkansas; aunt, Lennie Pappas; siblings, Ronald (Ginger) of Florida, Gale (Pat) Andrews of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daryl Carl; and his son, Robert Rob.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Ronald) Garner of Almont; grandsons, Kevin and David; brother, Glenn (Beverly) Sohn of North Branch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gladys Maxwell; son Daniel.
