Frederick Shelito
Died: Tuesday, January 22, 2002

Lapeer

Frederick Fred Shelito, 75, of Lapeer (formerly of Caro), died Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2002).
He was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Detroit, to Earl and Ellen (Skeels) Shelito. He married Betty Lawrie in Allen Park on July 1, 1949.
Heserved his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a warehouse manager for Detroit Edison. He was a member of the Hunters Creek Community Church. His favorite Bible verse was I Timothy 2:5. He was a handyman at Hunters Creek Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Shelito of Lapeer; sons, Rick (Debra) Shelito of Maryland, Tom (Pam) Shelito of Caro; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Winerfred Shelito of Oregon, Janet Zehrung of California; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Benyo in 1990; infant son, Dennis Shelito; parents; brother, Robert Shelito; 2 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hunters Creek Community Church.
Funeral services were held Friday (Jan. 25, 2002) at Hunters Creek Community Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Joseph Bower officiated. Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Garden, Saginaw.

Lloyd G. Moore
Died: Tuesday, January 22, 2002
Age: 75

Lapeer

Lloyd G. Jerry Moore, 75, of Lapeer, died Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2002).
He was born March 28, 1926 in Pontiac.
He served in the Army Air Corps as an aircrew member. He graduated as a pharmacist from Ferris State Institute in 1950. He worked as a pharmacist in Pontiac, Birmingham, Capac, Lapeer, Imlay City, Orlando, Fla., and most recently in Brown City. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was married to his wife, Joyce, for 54 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lapeer; children, Col. Ron, Christine Sierakowski, Michel, Tom, Winn; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Hunt.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Grace Episcopal Church.
A memorial service and luncheon will be noon Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2002) at Grace Episcopal Church, Lapeer. Father Steve Dewey will officiate.

Carl D. Sanford
Died: Monday, January 21, 2002

Elba

Carl D. Sanford, 102, of Elba, died Monday (Jan. 21, 2002).
He was born Oct. 15, 1899, in Davison, to Edgar and Lydia (Dennis) Sanford. He married Lena Kitchenmaster in Flint on June 23, 1928.
He was a lifetime area resident and proud to have been the oldest resident of Elba Township. His family would like to give a special thanks to the folks at Heartland Hospice, especially Diana Cunningham. Along with a thanks to Heartland Homecare workers, Wendy and Carol. Plus a thank you to VAAA/GAP Program, especially Lisa and Melody. He had a long and wonderful life, he worked and retired from the railroad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and even built his own house.
He is survived by his cousins, Margaret Baucom, Mary Kreiner; third cousins, Jan (Tony) Sabo, Jeani (Gary) Schmieder, Wayne Blackburn; nephew, Art Sanford; special niece, Shirley Sanford and other nieces and nephews; special friends, Leo Kelley, Frank and Leona Ryan; neighbors, Ralph and Jackie Sager.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Sanford; parents; brothers, Edgar, Arthur and Ralph.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services wereWednesday (Jan. 23, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Todd Smith officiated. Burial was in Bird cemetery, Elba Township.

Sara Mae Miller
Died: Monday, January 21, 2002
Age: 90

Imlay City

Sara Mae Miller, 90, of Imlay City (formerly of Midland and Flint), died Monday (Jan. 21, 2002) at Medilodge of Yale.
She was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Davison, to Ray and Iva (Bryan) Austin. She married Glenn Miller in Davison on Aug. 3, 1932.
She was a Deaconess of Freeland World Wide Church of God in Freeland.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenna J. (Robert) Richards of Clearmont, Fla.; sons, George P. (Marilyn) of Alpena, Gordon C. of Keene, Texas; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Elliot of Tampa, Fla., Geraldine Willman of Interlachen, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Miller on Dec. 21, 1990; 4 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday (Jan. 26, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Pastor Briscoe Elliott officiated. Burial was in Homer Township cemetery, Midland.

Adrian A. Theewes
Died: Monday, January 21, 2002
Age: 84

Lapeer

Adrian A. John Theeuwes, 84, of Lapeer, died Jan. 3, 2002.
He was born May 23, 1917 to Jacob and Maria (Johannas) Theeuwes.
Mr. Theeuwes served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 in Lapeer. John was a farmer. He worked at Oakdale Center until retirement. He and his wife, Ernestine, have been married for 58 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine of Lapeer; children, Donald (Rory) of Memphis, TN, Karen (Homer) Tucker of Shreveport, LA, Karl (Mary) of Lapeer, James (Jan) of Cory, PA; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; 2 sisters; and great grandson.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Mass Cards or the charity of your choice.
Funeral services were held Jan. 7, 2002 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Douglas Terrien officiated. Burial was in Hart cemetery, Hart, MI.

Joan C. Whitney
Died: Friday, January 18, 2002
Age: 68

Columbiaville

Joan C. Whitney, 68, of Columbiaville, died Jan. 18, 2002.
She was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Saginaw, to Fred and Louise (Louckner) Wager.
She graduated from Flint Kearsley High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Malkaynu Shauvah Ministries. She went to be with her Lord in Heaven, she will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur of Flint, Stephen (Mary) of Otter Lake, Ted (Tina) of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Arthur, Paul, Melissa, Ryan, Luke, Zachary; great-grandchildren, Chastity and Triston; sisters, Joyce Sweet, Ruth Whalen, Helen Minard and Alice Miller; special companion, Mel Leduc.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael; brothers, the Rev. William Wager, Fred Wager Jr., Bobby Wager; sisters, Dorothy Davis and Jeanne Wygaard.
Funeral services were Monday (Jan. 21, 2002) at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville. Rabbi Cecil Hartley officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.

Janice Gail Davey
Died: Wednesday, January 09, 2002
Age: 65

Venice, Fla.

Janice Gail Davey, 65, of Venice, Fla.(formerly of Columbiaville), died Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002).
She was born Oct. 29, 1936, in Columbiaville, to Harold and Cassie (Groezinger) Haupt. She married Douglas Vernon Davey in North Branch on June 11, 1955.
Janice graduated from Columbiaville High School at age 16. She was a member of the Fraternity Rebekah Lodge 136 in Columbiaville. She met her husband while working at Cadillac Motors. He was repairing the phone lines and the first time he saw her he said to a friend That's the girl I'm going to marry, they were married 46 years. She was a homemaker and worked part time at Rita Taylor's Dress Shop in Lapeer. Janice and Douglas moved to Venice, Fla., in 1986, where she volunteered at the Safe Place and Rape Center Store. Janice passed away after a long battle with Cancer. She was a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family would like to thank Hospice of Southwest Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Doug; sons, Brian and Barry (Amy); grandchildren, Angela (Christopher) Triutt of Richmond, Va., Christopher Davey of Forth Worth, Texas, Shandi Davey of Benton, Ark., Skyler Davey of Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren, Larry Levy Jr. and Matthew Levy of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Barbara Tinker, Marjorie Dorner, Sally Bean, Donna Kovacs and Eugenia LaBlanc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Cassie (Groezinger) Haupt.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Safe Place and Rape Center of Venice, Fla. Cremation has taken place.

Terry A. Colvin
Died: Wednesday, January 09, 2002
Age: 56

Lapeer

Terry A. Colvin, 56, of Lapeer (formerly of Swartz Creek), died Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002).
He was born May 13, 1945, to Arthur and Eva (Mayer) Colvin. He married Mary Dougherty in North Branch on March 22, 1998.
Mr. Colvin was a resident of Lapeer for 20 years. He was a tool and die maker for Saturn Electronics and Engineering of Oxford for 30 years this month. He was an avid motorcycle racing fan. Terry was a flat track half mile racer himself earlier in his life. He was a proud member of the American Motorcycle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Colvin of Lapeer; step-children, Kathy (Dave) Knapp of Lapeer, Lorie (Rusty) Bonner of North Branch, Gregory (Lisa) Clark of Albany, N.Y., Thomas (Stephanie) Clark of Lapeer, Robert (Robin Shana) Walker of Lapeer; grandchildren, Taylor, Jessica, Hailey, Kyle, Luke, Cody, Myles, Grant, Riley, Hayden, Gavin; mother, Eva Quigley of Flint; sister, Anita Patterson of Flint.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Colvin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Visitation will be held 4-9 p.m., Sunday (Jan. 13, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday (Jan. 14, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Canon Yung-Hsuan Chou will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Lapeer.
