Wesley Kirk Barocio, 24, of Madison Heights, died Saturday (Jan. 26, 2002) in Savannah, Ga.
He was born March 31, 1977, in Gross Pointe, to Kirk Barocio and Darlene Fournier Dambacher.
He died of injuries in an automobile accident in Savannah, Ga. He was a apprentice stage audio and lighting technician for concerts and conventions and was working this week in Savannah. He was aggressive in his life's plan and enjoyed his free time bowling, motorcycling, snowboarding and buying his homes.
He is survived by his parents, Darlene (Kenneth) Dambacher D.O. of Yale and Kirk (Mary Ann) Barocio of Dryden; sister, Tanya of Frazer; half-brothers, Austin and Dereck; grandparents, Nancy and Thomas Cooper M.D., of Clinton Twp., Joanne Fournier of Warren and Alfred Patricia Barocio of Attica Twp.; great-grandmothers, Martha Boyle of Clinton Twp. and Irene Fournier of Fla.; nephew, Devon; and niece Alana.

Funeral services were 11 a.m., Friday (Feb. 1, 2002) at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. The Rev. Jack French of Trinity Missionary Church, Yale, will officiate.

Otter Lake
Joann Kay Swanagon, 49, of Otter Lake, died Jan. 25, 2002 at Hurley Medical Center.
She was born July 6, 1952, in Flint, to Roy Jr., and Mary Alice (Rock) Mulholland. She married Charles O. Swanagon in Flint on Aug. 23, 1975.
She had lived in Otter Lake since 1992, coming from Lapeer. She graduated from Lapeer High School in 1970. She attended Fostoria Baptist Church and had been a seamstress for many years. She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Shawn (Alma) of Denver, Colo., Joshua (Susan) of Otisville, Josette (Michael) Morales of Lapeer, Daniel (Debbie) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Angie of Otter Lake; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia West of Lapeer; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chris; and infant daughter, Sabrina.

Alice Frances Davies, 87, of Metamora (formerly of Pontiac), died Friday (Jan. 25, 2002).
She is survived by her sons, Edward Davies of Metamora and Jack Davies of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Alma Judson of Pellston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Davies in 1970.

Thomas Kibby

Davison
Thomas Kibby, 66, of Davison (long time Lapeer area resident), died Thursday (Feb. 7, 2002).
He was born March 24, 1935, in Frankfort, to Charles and Esther (Tody) Kibby.
He retired in 1991 from the Lapeer County Road Commission. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed walking, cooking at the Lapeer Eagles, searching for asparagus and volunteering at the D-Bar-A Boy Scout Camp. He was an expert at hunting for morel mushrooms and he truly loved to do it. He will be missed by many dear friends and family.
He is survived by his daughters, Joanne (William) Suydam of Grand Rapids, Veronica Hall of Kalamazoo and Kristin (Marc) Castro of Davison; fiancˇe, Gloria Scheall of Davison; grandchildren, Mark Tucker, Jessica Lee Suydam, Joseph William Suydam, Kelsey K. Donnelly and Kortney J. Donnelly; brothers, Bill, Pete, Richard, Ralph and Mike; sisters, Dolly, Dede, Lu and Nada; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karla Kibby; son, Thomas Lee Kibby; siblings, Walt Kibby, Francis Kibby, Nancy Smith and Carol Ann Hitsman.

Edith Mapley

Edith Mapley, 90, of Lapeer, died Feb. 6, 2002.
She was born Sept. 12, 1911, in Plainfield, to Edson and Mary (Almy) Pixley. She married Sherry Norman Mapley at the Congregational Church in Oxford on Dec. 11, 1948.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On Dec. 3, 1995 her marriage was sealed for all eternity at the Toronto Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints in Brampton, Ontario Canada. She was a former Cub Scout den mother for many years in Oxford.
She is survived by her husband, Sherry Norman Mapley of Lapeer; children, Shirley Ann Baird of Waterford, Kenneth Baird of Lapeer, Gordon (Connie) Mapley of Lapeer; step-sons, Gareth Mapley of Kentucky, Bruce Mapley of Montana; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn Glover Baird; siblings, Robert, Ernest, Louis, Minnie, Ruth, Jennie, William and Albert.

Funeral services were Feb. 9 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lapeer. Bishop Lee Huffaker officiated. Burial was in Oxford cemetery.

Waldemar F. Kunstman

Almont
Waldemar F. Kunstman, 79, of Almont, died Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2002), at Bi-County Hospital, Warren.
He was born March 22, 1922, in Germany, to Waldemar and Ida (Sommer) Kunstman.
He was a civilian prisoner of war in Germany and France and immigrated with his parents and sister to the United States on Dec. 24, 1944. He lived in Almont since 1945. He was a farmer and retired from Hydraulic Tube in Almont.
He is survived by his sister, Anneliese Kunstman; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private funeral has taken place. Burial was in Ferguson cemetery, Almont.

Vernon Stryker

Vernon Stryker, 54, of Kentwood, died Monday (Feb. 4, 2002).
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Pete (Denise) of Almont, Tara (Aaron) Antonelli of Brown City, Tammy and Bradley of Mo.; 5 grandchildren; father, Frank Stryker; sister, Pat (John) Crittendon of Wyoming; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann.

Peter Miholek

Imlay City
Peter Miholek, 81, of Imlay City, died Monday (Feb. 4, 2002) at Ferguson Convalescent Home.
He was born May 27, 1920, in Wayne, to Michael and Helen (Straznicski) Miholek. He married Bertha (Bailey) Miholek in Sterling Heights on July 25, 1963.
He worked for Almont Manufacturing Co. in Imlay City for about 43 years before retiring. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his brother, Mathew Miholek of Brown City; sister, Anne Most of Imlay City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha (Bailey) Miholek on Jan. 29, 1994; 8 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Burial of ashes will take place at Goodland Township cemetery at a later date.
