John J. Narbut, 84, of Lum (formerly of West Detroit), died Saturday (June 8, 2002).
He was born March 2, 1918 in Calumet, Pa. He married Doris Bruder in Detroit on March 1, 1969.
He was a bus driver for the City of Detroit. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a former member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his children, John Narbut of Trenton, Mary Knight of Royal Oak, Elizabeth Hardy of Phoenix, Ariz., Ronald Narbut of Royal Oak and Ben (Sue) Narbut of St. Clair Shores; step-son, Robert (Martha) Barrette of Grosse Pointe; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Doris Narbut; and second wife, Doris Helen Narbut.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation was Wednesday (June 12, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services were Wednesday (June 12, 2002) at the funeral home. The Rev. Peter DeKlerk officiated. Burial was in Arcadia Township cemetery, with a military graveside service under the auspices of American Legion Post 16 Honor Guard.

Scott Allen VanVolkenburg, 33, of Capac, died June 7, 2002 in Pembroke, N.Y.
He is survived by his children, Aaron VanVolkenburg of Lapeer, Heather VanVolkenburg of Port Huron, Robert Kesner of Port Huron, Kelene Hubbell, Susan Hubbell, Anne Marie Hubbell and Grace Hubbell, all of Lapeer; his parents, Abe and June Ossineke; brother, Abe Jr. of Ossineke; sisters, Faithann (Rick) Ludwig of Capac, Theresa VanVolkenburg of Florida and Lisa VanVolkenburg of Armada; 10 nieces and nephews; one special friend and partner, Elizabeth Hubbell of Lapeer.
A memorial service was Friday (June 14, 2002) at the Bannan Funeral Home, Ossineke. The Rev. Clive Dickins officiated.
Pauline Ruth Hardenburg

Pauline Ruth Hardenburgh, 77, of Lapeer, died June 7, 2002.
She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Lapeer, to Hiram and Edith (Carpenter) Swayze.
She was a housekeeper at Lapeer County General Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church. She enjoyed baking and volunteer work.
She is survived by her sons, David (Laura) Hardenburgh of Lake Isabella and Douglas Hardenburgh of Lapeer; one grandchild, three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Joyce) Swayze of Lapeer and Robert (Marcia) Swayze of Flint; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Suzanne "Sue" Hardenburgh; parents, and one brother, Bernie Swayze.
Memorial contributions may be made to Radio Station WMPC.
Funeral services were Tuesday (June 11, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Belva Irene Seidell

The Rev. Belva Irene Seidell, 73, of Gering, Neb., died Friday (June 7, 2002) at Heritage Health Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Imlay City, to Stanley and Virgie Seidell.
She graduated from Imlay City High School in 1946. After high school she worked at the Protestant Children's Home in Grosse Pointe as a recreational director. After moving to Denver, Colo., she worked with emotionally impaired children. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in 1967. Her master's degree in social work was earned from the University of Denver in 1970. She was executive director of Florence Crittenton Home in Denver in 1972. In 1977 she was the director of the Office on Aging of Regional Council for Senior Citizens in Denver. Her master's degree in divinity was from Iliff School of Theology in Denver in 1984. Her internship was at Community Presbyterian Church of Lingle, Wyo. She served as pastor for First Presbyterian Church of Morrill, Neb. and Immanuel United Church of Christ in Lyman, Neb., at the same time in 1987. She retired from the ministry in 1995 due to ill health.This past year she filled the pulpit at Lingle, Wyo. and also worked at the Western Historical Center at Lingle.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Jean (Kenneth) Brown of Imlay City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgie and Stanley Seidell.

A memorial service will be Saturday (June 29, 2002) at the Lingle Church in Wyoming. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Sunday (June 16, 2002) at Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City. The burial of ashes will be held at a later date.

Marion Julia Weingartz, 84, of Attica, died June 6, 2002 at home.
She was born Jan. 9, 1918, in Warren, to Joseph and Rosalie (Paschke) Elwart. She married Clifford Henry Weingartz in Imlay City at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on July 27, 1946.
She was employed by Vlasics Foods and Lapeer County General Hospital. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society of Hope and Charity. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary in Imlay City.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Mitzle) Weingartz of Attica; granddaughter, MaryJo (James) Goring of Attica; great-grandchildren, Jesse James Goring and Benjamin Paul Goring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1998; brothers, Clem Elwart, Frank Elwart and Leo Elwart; and sisters, Rose Northrop and Alma Peters. Funeral services were Saturday (June 8, 2002) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Imlay City. The Revs. Wayne Ureel and Ezequiel Mondragon officiated. Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery, Imlay City.

Betty L. Moran, 60, of Lapeer, died June 5, 2002 at McLaren Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Almont, to John and Caroline (Zeitz) Jarrett.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved working in her yard and flowers. She loved people and opened her home to everyone.
She is survived by her loving children, Terri (Kirt) West of Caro, Cheri (Steve) Danielson of Lapeer, Donnie (Tonyna) Hamilton of Flint, John (Patty) Moran of Madison Heights and Laurie (Jim) Slater of Lapeer; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters, Grace (Elmer) Bailey of Lapeer, Carol (Wayne) Preiss of Otter Lake, Dick (Connie) Jarrett of Lapeer, Janet (Fred) Schenkel of Dryden, Robert (Juanita) Jarrett of Lapeer and Lyle (Judy) Jarrett of Flint.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Caroline Jarrett; and one granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Hamilton.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Sunday (June 9, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Barry DeWitt officiated. Burial was in Dryden cemetery, Dryden.

He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Todd Lambrix, Monica Lambrix, Angelia (Gilbert) Caballero, Holly (David) Atkinson and Anna Lambrix; grandchildren, Bryanna and Jacob Barker, Hunter Persails, Darian Stevens, Cassandra Atkinson, Gabrielle and Samantha Betz; sister, Darlene (John) Crossen; and three step-brothers, Ronald (Onlee) Jackson, Donald E. Lambrix, Jr. and Michael Lambrix.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. and Ann Lambrix.
Funeral services were Friday (June 7, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer.The Rev. Swight Rottiers officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Ironwood.

Creighton A. Mantey, 69, of North Branch, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Detroit, to Charles and Grace (Allen) Mantey. He married Shirley Carter on March 24, 1982.
He grew up in Detroit and graduated from Cass Tech. He was a draftsman for Fisher Body and was a drafting instructor for Macomb Community College for several years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of North Branch; daughters, Anita (Brian) Gipperich of Belleville, Ill, Taina (Jim) Bundshuh of Jasper, Dawn (Mike) McLatcher of Clarkston, Jennifer (Gary) Paperd of Sterling Heights and Jeanette (Ron) Tanguma of Colorado; sons, Creighton Jr. (Marlene) of Dryden, David (Denise) Hubbard of Sterling Heights, Jeff Hubbard of Sterling Heights and Jerry (Teena) Hubbard of Oregon; 23 grandchildren, and one sister, Evelyn Krulock of Clinton Township.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Mantey.
Visitation was Sunday (June 9, 2002) and Monday (June 10, 2002) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch.
Funeral services were Monday (June 10, 2002) at the funeral home. The Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiated.
