His wife of 60 years currently lives in Jackson with their son, Michael. During WorldWar II he was stationed in the South Pacific for four years. After release from the service, he returned to his career at Pontiac State Hospital. He served as president of the Michigan Radiological Society, D-9, from 1968-1969. He was a member of the Board of the National Radiological Society and received the Malinckrodt Award in 1974 for technologist of the year through the Michigan Society of Radiologic Technologists. He favored two hobbies in his lifetime, his first being, a pilot flying private planes and his second being, hunting for deer and wild turkey. His boyhood love for flying carried throughout his years as he piloted many trips with family and friends. His love for hunting also began when he was a boy, as he followed in the family tradition of yearly hunting trips with his siblings. This remained a well-bonded family activity throughout most of his years, it would seem as if he would always be looking forward to the next deer season once he returned from the current year's trip.
