Judy (Maxfield) Wisniewski, 53, of Houston, Texas (formerly of Dryden and Columbiaville), died Friday (July 12, 2002).
She graduated from Dryden High School in 1966. She was employed for the past 15 years by TRW Modern Fold in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Wisniewski of Houston; daughter, Jody (Basil) Balkany of Clarkston; grandchildren, Melanie, Whitney, Madison and Tyler Balkany of Clarkston; father, Emory Maxfield of Lapeer; father-in-law, Stanley Wisniewski of Sterling Heights; sister, Wendy Maxfield of Davison; brothers, Jim (Barbara) Maxfield of Millington and Kenny Maxfield of Idaho; nieces, nephews and many friends in both Texas and Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Maxfield; brothers, Gary and Doug; sister, Joyce; and mother-in-law, Helen Wisniewski.
A memorial service will be held in Houston.
Funeral services were Tuesday (July 16, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery, Columbiaville.

Frank O'Brien

Frank "Babe" O'Brien, 83, of Lapeer (formerly of Stuart, Fla. and Detroit), died Thursday (July 11, 2002).
He was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Detroit, to Martin and Helen (Ponshok) O'Brien.
He was a retired Chrysler executive.
He is survived by his children, Carol Tucker of Lapeer, Sharon (Larry) VanLeuven of Lapeer, Frank O'Brien of Metamora and Robert (Barb) O'Brien of Grand Haven; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Helen O'Brien.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
Funeral services were Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated.

Mildred I. Forshee

Mildred I. Forshee, 81, of Akron, died July 10, 2002.
She was born July 21, 1920, in Camp Creek, Alberta, Canada, to Charles Leo and Orinda (Stock) Hall. She married Harry Forshee in Caro on July 18, 1937.
They ran a family business together called Forshee Farm Service at their home in Akron. She was also a playground aide at McComb Elementary School in Caro. She was a 4-H Cooperative Extension leader, and a member of the Caro Business and Professional Women and Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She is survived by her children, Harriette (George) Pearce of Lapeer, Carolyn (Dick) Chambers of Holland, Dwight (Marilyn) Forshee of Ypsilanti and John (Debra) Forshee of Caro; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison "Harry" Forshee; parents, Leo and Orinda Hall; and sister, Myrtle Beggs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or the Caro Baptist Church Building Fund.
Funeral services were Monday (July 15, 2002) at Caro Baptist Church. The Rev. Ron Wiegand officiated. Burial was in Brookside cemetery, Fairgrove.

Harold Lloyd Rodarmer

Harold Lloyd Rodarmer, 74, of Lapeer (formerly of Imlay City and Almont), died Wednesday (July 10, 2002) at Medilodge of Yale.
He was born May 11, 1928, in Dryden, to Karl and Jennie (Allen) Rodarmer. He married Shirley Ann Steffes in Washington on July 13, 1977.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Pontiac Motors, Plant 8, in Quality Control for 32 years, before retiring in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Rodarmer of Lapeer; daughter, Patricia Ann (Jeff) Boskowitz of Crystal, Minn.; step-daughter, Kathleen Saunders of Marlette; grandchildren, Travis Boskowitz, Donald Rodarmer Jr., and Diana Saunders; and a sister, Eileen Russell of Dryden.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald in 1999; and sister, Phyllis Houck.
Funeral services were Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Colin Stover officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Lester B. Koch

Lester B. Koch, 80, of Palm City, Fla., died July 9, 2002 at his home.
He was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Milford, to Arthur B. and Elizabeth (York) Koch. He married Penney Agnes in Detroit in 1946.
After high school, he was employed for a few years by Western Union in Detroit. In 1942 he began service with Navy during World War II, serving on a submarine in the West Pacific. During the final months of the war his submarine patrolled the coastal waters off Japan. In 1953 they bought a farm near Clifford. In 1956 he took a job with the Federal Land Bank of Lapeer. In1957 he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a short time. Later, in 1976, he became manager of the Federal Land Bank of Charlotte. He retired in 1987, but remained active around central Michigan until moving to Palm City, Fla. in 1996. He was well known in Lapeer, the surrounding counties and in central Michigan.
He is survived by his wife, Penney; daughter, Nancy Koch (Michael) English; granddaughter, Christina English; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday (July 12, 2002) at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial was in Forrest Hill Park in Palm City, Fla.
Frances N. Sweeney

Frances N. Sweeney, 70, of Metamora (formerly of Lake Orion), died Tuesday (July 9, 2002).
She was born Sept 3, 1931, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Roy and Mary (Dailey) Recknagel.
She graduated from Lake Orion High School, Class of 1949. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Patrick J. Sweeney; children, Joseph P. of Metamora and James M. (Cora L.) of Metamora; grandchild, Megan M; and one brother, Jim Recknagel of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Patty Kettering, Robert Recknagel and Maryann Lisk.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass was Friday (July 12, 2002) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial was in Eastlawn cemetery.

LaVerne Smith, 71, of Mio, died Tuesday (July 9, 2002) at his home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Owosso, to George and Lucinda (Haight) Smith.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a General Motors retiree.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Rodney; daughters, Carol Blatt, Donna Nue and Dee Dee Smith; eight step children; 29 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Laura Snyder, Mary Cook and Charlotte Felix.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucinda Smith; a brother, Charlie; and a sister, Shirley.
A memorial service was Saturday (July 13, 2002) at the Silverwood Church. The Rev. Ron Hutchinson officiated. Cremation had already taken place. Arrangements by Orr Funeral Home, Mio.
Mabel Lena Kelly

Mabel Lena (Marshall) Kelly, 97, of Lapeer, died Tuesday (July 9, 2002) at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.
She was born Sept. 18, 1904, in Kings Mill, to Joseph and Augusta (Schwerin) Marshall. She married Ralph Kelly on July 19, 1926. They were married for over 50 years. They enjoyed life, taking fishing trips to Canada and family times.
She had several jobs, retiring as a housekeeper from Lapeer County General Hospital. She had worked for the hospital for many years, starting when the hospital was on Pine Street.
She is survived by her children, Philip Kelly of Lapeer, Bill (Bev) Kelly of Lapeer, Richard (Joyce) Kelly of Lapeer, Norma Jean (Oliver) McMann of Lapeer and Betty (Norman) Laidler of Columbiaville; grandchildren, Vickie (Aaron) Martin, Karen (Charles) McCombs, Gordon (Laura) McMann, Oliver McMann Jr., Sean (Julie) Kelly, Kim (Doug) Maier, Susan (Dan) Bybee, Michel (Jennie) Laidler, Ben (Lee Ann) Kelly and Jill (Chris) Rinna; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Agnes Marshall of Lapeer; several nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Kelly; parents; brother; sister; daughter-in-law; granddaughter; and great-great-granddaughter.
