Ronald R. Swain, 65, of Flint, died Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) at Hurley Medical Center.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 295 in Attica and he also was a Shrine Clown of the Elf Khurafeh Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Christopher; five step-children, two grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in lieu of flowers.
Funeral services were Tuesday, (Oct. 22). The Rev. Bonnie Neighorn officiated. A memorial service was held by the Masonic Lodge 295 on Monday (Oct. 21). Cremation has taken place.

Debra Jean Simpson
Died: Saturday, October 19, 2002
Age: 43

Davison

Debra Jean Simpson, 43, of Davison, died Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint.
She was born March 18, 1959, in Flint to Charles and Beverly Simpson.
She enjoyed country-western concerts and camping. She bowled on several leagues. She was employed by Lapeer County Medical Care Facility for 24 years.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Ryan Simpson; parents, Charles and Beverly Simpson; grandparents, Vera Burgess, Avis and Russel Annibal, Charles and Norma Simpson; sister, Sally Ann Simpson; brother, Kenneth Edward Simpson; nephews, Travis and Mathew Simpson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Oct. 22) at Community Baptist Church. The Rev. Daryl Taylor officiated. Burial was in Smith-Hill cemetery.

Kyle Todd Measel
Died: Saturday, October 19, 2002
Age: 17

Deckerville

Kyle Todd Measel, 17, of Deckerville (formerly of Lum), died Saturday (Oct. 12, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital from injuries incurred in an automobile accident.
He was born Dec. 22, 1984, in Rochester to Todd and Terri (Altz) Measel.
He had been employed driving heavy equipment, as well as landscaping and maintenance. He was a member of the graduating class of 2001 and a graduate of Vo-Tech Educational Center in Attica.
He is survived by his parents, Todd and Terri Measel of Deckerville; sisters, Anna Measel and Chelsea Measel; brothers, Andrew Measel and Ben Measel; grandparents, Kenneth and Mickey Measel of Almont, Shirley Megrian of Novi; and great-grandparents, Esther and Earl Measel of Almont, Vilma Ward of Gaylord, Elmer Altz Jr. of Algonac.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Oct. 15) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.

Willis Hable
Died: Friday, October 18, 2002
Age: 78

Attica

Willis Hable, 78, of Attica, died Friday (Oct. 18, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Lancaster, Pa., to William and Maggie (Blumeshine) Hable. He married Margaret Reid on June 29, 1946, in Detroit.
He lived in Lake Orion from 1955-1978 before moving to the Attica area in 1978. He served in the Marine Corps as an amphibious reconnaissance platoon sergeant during World War II. He was employed by Ford as a millwright in the axle plant for 20 years before retiring in 1986. He also worked as a barber, milkman, carpenter and in insurance during his lifetime. He raised trout and was a beekeeper and sold honey wholesale.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hable of Attica; daughter, Trudi (Steve) Waite of Rochester Hills; sons, Martin (Teresa) Hable of North Branch, the Rev. Gary (Marie) Hable of Wasilla, Alaska, and Murray (Lynn) Hable of Attica; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Hable of Roscommon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maggie Hable; and siblings, John, Amos, Charles, Kathryn, Emma, Wilber and Raymond.
Funeral services were Monday (Oct. 21) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.

Ernestine M. Bonesteel
Died: Friday, October 18, 2002
Age: 85

Lapeer

Ernestine M. Bonesteel, 85, of Lapeer, died Friday (Oct. 18, 2002) .
She was born March 17, 1917, in Lapeer, to Edmund and Jennie (Moon) Maasch. She married Fred Bonesteel on June 14, 1942 in Lum.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She retired from Lapeer Fabricators.
She is survived by her children, Edmund "Butch" Bonesteel, Marilyn (James) Anderson, Fred (Joan) Bonesteel and Dennis Bonesteel; grandchildren, Kevin, Chris, Pam, Jeff, Melissa, Shelley, Jennie, Kelly, Mary, Theresa, Jason and Kassie; 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy (Ray) Snyder and Lorraine Bonchuk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bonesteel in 2001; parents; and four siblings, Evelyn Laidler, August Maasch, Ronald Maasch and Frank Maasch.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family.
Funeral services were Monday (Oct. 21) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Attica Township cemetery.

Vicki Marie Madar
Died: Thursday, October 17, 2002
Age: 46

Brown City

Vicki Marie Madar, 46, of Brown City (formerly of Gingleville and Attica), died Thursday (Oct. 17, 2002).
She was born June 9, 1956, in Pontiac to Frank and Betty Dumont. She married David Madar Sr. on Aug. 26, 1978.
She graduated in 1974 from Lake Orion High School. She was a loving wife, mother and sister.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, David Madar; daughters, Sara (Mike) Goncalves of Brown City and Angela (Stan) Scribner of Pontiac; sons, David (Theresa) Madar Jr. of Orion Township and Daniel (Amanda) Madar of Pontiac; brothers, Wayne Dumont and David Dumont of Mikado, Richard Dumont of Gingleville, Kevin (Mary) Dumont of Holly and Michael Dumont of Pontiac; grandchildren, Michaela Madar, Dawson Madar, Daniel Madar, Devin Madar, Samatha Scribner, Lindsay Scribner; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leslie and Lorraine Hughes and Wayne Madar.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Sunday (Oct. 20) at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford.

Richard Running
Died: Thursday, October 17, 2002

Mayville

Richard Running, 72, of Mayville (formerly of Lapeer), died Thursday (Oct. 17, 2002).
He was born May 29, 1930. He retired from Buick Motor Division of General Motors in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Running; children, Stan (Bonnie) Running of Lapeer, Gary (Pam) Running of Silverwood, Al (Jeannie) Running of Otter Lake and Diane (Jeffrey) Kamidoi; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer (810-664-8111).

Harvey Milton Klauka
Died: Wednesday, October 16, 2002
Age: 85

Florida

Harvey Milton Klauka, 85, of Florida (formerly of Pontiac), died Oct. 16, 2002.
He was born June 18, 1917, in Detroit to Louis and Martha Klauka. He married his first wife, Madeleine Berlin, on Aug. 14, 1941, and his second wife, Louetta Racey, in 1979.
He served in the Army during World War II , from 1941-1945. He retired as chief of the Pontiac Fire Department.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Michelle) Klauka of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Peter (Tracy) Klauka of Flagstaff, Ariz.; grandchildren, Daniel, David, Rebekah, HarLee, Joseph and Craig; and brother, Norman (Dorothy) Klauka of Imlay City.
A private family service has been held.
