Dianne Carol Schaller, 42, of North Branch (formerly of Richmond), died Sunday (Nov. 3, 2002).
She was born April 21, 1960, in Mount Clemens, to Don and Donna (Campau) Ottenbacher. She married Nathan Schaller in 1979.
She graduated from North Branch High School, class of 1978. She was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan Schaller of North Branch; son, Zach Schaller of North Branch; daughters, Amanda (LeRoy) Hohman of Brown City and Sarah Schaller of North Branch; granddaughter, Julia; parents, Donna Ottenbacher of Lapeer and Don Ottenbacher of Imlay City; parents-in-law, Lynwood and Rosemary Schaller of Columbiaville; siblings, Jean (Rich) Bannon of Lapeer, Betty (Andy) Malburg of North Branch, Ken (Jen) Ottenbacher of North Branch, Dan Ottenbacher of North Branch and Pearl (Jeff) Moore of Lapeer; and many, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to benefit Sara's Wesleyan Academy Tuition.
Funeral services wereWednesday (Nov. 6) at the First Baptist Church of Lapeer. The Rev. David Hill officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery, North Branch.

Jean Jager
Died: Sunday, November 03, 2002
Age: 71

Attica

Jean Jager, 71, of Attica, died Sunday (Nov. 3, 2002) at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Flint.
She was born March 3, 1931, in Grand Rapids to Fred and Lucy Hoeksema. She married Lewis Raymond Jager on July 13, 1951, in Imlay City.
She graduated from Imlay City High School in 1949. She had been a co-owner of Town and Country Fashions in Imlay City, retiring in the mid 1990s. She was a member of Imlay City Christian Reform Church. Much of her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them participate in band, piano, dance, sports, baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, track and soccer.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Jager of Imlay City; children, Sally (Dan) Godo of Imlay City, Val (John) Wuori of Sturgis, Randy (Lori) Jager of Imlay City and Brian Jager of Three Rivers; sister, Lorraine (Vern) Cramer of Kalamazoo; brother, Warner (Barbara) Hoeksema of Imlay City; grandchildren, Ashley Jager, Jordan Jager, Nate (Crystal) Godo, Geoff (Jennah Dodge) Godo, Adrienne Jager, Amanda Jager, Alexis Jager, Daniel Wuori and Trevor Wuori; and great-grandchild, Cassidy Godo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lucy Hoeksema.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Imlay City Christian School or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Nov. 6) at the Imlay City Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Kenneth VanderHorst officiated. Burial will be in Imlay Township cemetery.

Kathy N. Hale
Died: Saturday, November 02, 2002
Age: 50

Lapeer

Kathy N. Hale, 50, of Lapeer, died Saturday (Nov. 2, 2002).
She was born in Flint to Arthur and Margaret (Fish) Lawrence. She married James Hale in February 1974.
She was a graduate of Lapeer High School, class of 1970. She worked as a building para-professional for the Lapeer Community Schools, working primarily for the Elba Elementary School. She was a proud mother and wife.
She is survived by her husband, James Hale of Lapeer; sons, James Arthur (Helene) Hale of Auburn Hills and Drew Hale of Pontiac; parents; Arthur and Margaret Lawrence of Davison; sisters, Vicki (Bob) Davy of Houghton Lake, Anne Lawrence of Lapeer and Sharon (Richard) Moore of Lapeer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Julia Hale.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry Ford Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Research.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Nov. 6) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev.Todd Smith officiated.

Charles J. Coons
Died: Saturday, November 02, 2002
Age: 71

Dryden

Charles J. Coons, 71, of Dryden (formerly of Rochester), died Saturday (Nov. 2, 2002).
He was a 1950 graduate of Rochester High School. He was an Air Force veteran. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1984. He was a member of the Thornville Baptist Church, the Michigan Bell Telephone Pioneers, the Lapeer Elks Club and Stoney Creek Lodge 5 Free and Accepted Masons.
He is survived by his wife, Joy (Riggle) Coons; children, Chrys (Brenda) Coons of Dryden, Dennis (Cheryl) Coons of Rochester, Richard (Lesley) Coons of Wesley Chapel, Fla. and Peggy (Daniel) Wells of Capac; grandchildren, Chad, Carla, Brent, Shane, Geena, Kory and Danyelle; and a sister, Peggy (Thomas) Drewes of Pigeon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Nov. 6) at Pixley Funeral Home, Rochester.

Karl Daniel Smith

Karl Daniel Smith, 36, of Lapeer, died Friday (Nov. 1, 2002).
He was born Dec. 21, 1965, in Frankfort, Germany, to Howard Daniel and Kathleen (Corwin) Smith.
He was a heavy equipment operator for American Aggregates.
He is survived by his children, Keith D. (Tabitha) Smith of Vassar, Kaci D. Smith of Florida and Krysta D. Smith of Florida; parents, Howard and Kathleen (Corwin) Smith of Lapeer; siblings, Kerri (Ron) Rafalski of Royal Oak and Kurt D. Smith of Lapeer; and grandparents, Howard and Jenny Lind Smith of Royal Oak.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Marjorie Corwin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Monday (Nov. 4) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Peter DeKlerk officiated.

Rose Clancy

Lapeer

Rose Clancy, 82, of Lapeer, died Friday (Nov. 1, 2002) in Yale.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lapeer. She had been a Foster Grandparent for 16 years at the Woodside School. She will be fondly remembered by her friends, Peg and Betsy, as well as many other friends made while at Oakdale Regional Center, where she had lived for 57 years.
A memorial service was Saturday (Nov. 2) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Todd Smith officiated.

Thelma J. Brindley
Died: Friday, November 01, 2002
Age: 72

West Branch

Thelma J. Brindley, 72, of West Branch, died Friday (Nov. 1, 2002) at Bay Medical Center, Bay City.
She had lived in West Branch since 1957. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women. She loved to play bingo.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Gary) Miller, Raymond (Jayne) Brindley and Edwin (Lori) Miller, all of West Branch, and Ellen (Brian) Nelson of St. Helen; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Goodrich of Sumterville, Fla., and Glenn Goodrich of Imlay City; and three sisters, Mae Addison of North Branch, Shirley Miner of Grand Blanc and Ethel Jostock of Lapeer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Vincent Brindley; and brother, Floyd Goodrich.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ogemaw County Humane Society.
Funeral Mass was Monday (Nov. 4) at Holy Family Catholic Church, West Branch. Burial was in Holy Family cemetery.

Wilma A. Buell
Died: Thursday, October 31, 2002
Age: 94

Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Wilma A. Buell, 94, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Thursday (Oct. 31, 2002) at her home.
She was a native of Traverse City and had been a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1995, coming from Almont, where she was the owner and operator of Quality Shoes. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Sharon) Buell of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Buell of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m., Thursday (Nov. 7) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont. The Rev. Erwin Roberson of Capitol City Baptist Church in Lansing will officiate. Burial will be in Ferguson cemetery, Almont.
