Karen Ellen Guilfoil, 41, of Lapeer, died Thursday (Nov. 8, 2002).
She was born April 25, 1961, in Westland to Gerald and Helen Force. She married Michael Guilfoil in Lapeer in 1979.
She was a homemaker and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Michael of Lapeer; son, Eric Guilfoil of Lapeer; and daughter, Sanya Johnson of Imlay City.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melody Guilfoil; and her parents, Gerald and Helen Force.
A memorial service was Wednesday (Nov. 13) at the American Legion Building, Lapeer.

Helen Graybiel
Died: Friday, November 08, 2002
Age: 80

Lansing

Helen Graybiel, 80, of Lansing, died Friday (Nov. 8, 2002) at Sparrow House Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
She was born July 26, 1922, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to John and Anna Margaret (Heinbuck) Keller. She married Max Irvin Graybiel on Jan. 27, 1945.
She graduated from Capac High School in 1941, then worked for American Blower in Detroit. She was team captain for the company's softball team. She and Max owned and operated a dairy farm in Capac. They were very active in the dairy industry, taking pride in their registered Holsteins. She also operated an egg business. She was well known for her smile and energy. She loved her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed all sports. Baseball was her passion, especially the Detroit Tigers. She was also an avid Michigan State University fan. She enjoyed interior decorating, landscaping and playing euchre. She was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Capac and past president of the Dorcas Society. She recently attended the First Congregational Church of Imlay City. She chose to donate her body to Michigan State University.
She is survived by her daughters, Kelann (Daniel) Boyer of Ovid, Karlene (Howard) Falker of East Tawas, Kathleen (Dennis) Reilly of Lansing,Karen (Michael) Elder of Wilton Manors, Fla., and Kristine (Mark) Moses of Marysville; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild; sister-in-law, Lois Kaiser of Naples, Fla.; brother-in-law, Allan Graybiel of Adrian; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; siblings, John Keller, Alec Keller, Molly Stoffer, Lydia Markey and Henry Keller; and sister-in-law, Velma Hull.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, P.O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909-9986.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Friday (Nov. 15) at St. John's Lutheran Church, Capac.

Jean A. Butler
Died: Wednesday, November 06, 2002

Jean A. Butler, 85, of Yale (formerly of Columbiaville), died Nov. 6, 2002.
She was born March 21, 1917, in Columbiaville, to Lee and Mineta Butler.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen (Tom) Wallace of Corunna, Mary Trune of Lapeer, Dorothy (Dave) Margrif of Lapeer and Phyllis (Floyd) Burgess of Columbiaville; and two brothers, Arthur (Doris) of Debary,Fla., and Bert of Avoca.
Funeral services were Friday (Nov. 8) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home. The Rev. Todd Petty officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery, Columbiaville.

Gladys Marie Shoemaker
Died: Wednesday, November 06, 2002
Age: 86

Brown City

Gladys Marie Shoemaker, 86, of Brown City, died Wednesday (Nov. 6, 2002) in Lapeer.
She was born June 10, 1916, in Brown City, to Joseph and Violet Muxlow. She married Laverne Shoemaker on May 8, 1943.
She was a cheerful and loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted caregiver to her husband of 58 years and to her family and extended family. She loved adventure and was well traveled.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Sue) Shoemaker, Thomas Shoemaker; grandchildren, Trent and Justin; brother, Milford Muxlow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne Shoemaker; two brothers, Clayton and Bernard McMann; and four sisters, Belva Muxlow, Arleen Mitchell, Iris Franklin and Hazel McMann.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Bible Church.
Funeral services were Saturday (Nov. 9) at the Fellowship Bible Church. The Rev. Richard Black officiated. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

Daniel Hugh Risdon
Died: Tuesday, November 05, 2002
Age: 49

Cass City

Daniel Hugh Risdon, 49, of Cass City, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2002) in Hills and Dales General Hospital.
He was born May 4, 1953, in Flint to Leonard L. and Mildred (Harris) Risdon. He married Kathy Ann Zemke on April 1, 1986, in Caro.
He graduated from Lakeville High School. He worked for the Caro regional Center as a supervisor and resident care aide, retiring in June after 31 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends. He played the guitar and enjoyed bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Jeremy Daniel Risdon of Caro, Jeffery Wayne Risdon of Saginaw and Samantha Shay Risdon of Cass City; step-children, Shannon (Doug) Zdrojewski of Muskegon and Savannah Thorp of Muskegon; grandchildren, Dylan Zdrojewski and Rachel Zdrojewski; parents, Leonard and Mildred Risdon of Otisville; sister, Janice Ann (Eugene) Koski of Otisville; niece, Christina Koski of Millington; nephews, Charles Koski of Oscoda and Robb Koski of Millington; brothers-in-law, Kurt Zemke of Pontiac and Christopher (Nancy) Zemke of Caro; and father- and mother-in-law, William and Joan Zemke of Deford.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hugh and Martha Harris and Charles and Nina Risdon; brother-in-law, William Zemke; and uncle, Floren Risdon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
Funeral services were Friday (Nov. 8) at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. The Rev. Eric Holmgren of Cass City First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Novesta Township cemetery, Cass City.

Bonnie June Medbery
Died: Monday, November 04, 2002

Bonnie June Medbery, 62, of North Branch, died Monday (Nov. 4, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born on May 17, 1940, in St. Clair County, to Adam and Audrey (Ketchum) Mulholland. She married George Medbery on Aug. 22, 1968, at the Church of Nazarene in Lapeer.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, reading, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Sherry (Mike) Turner of North Branch; sons, Jeff (Sue) Berlin of Grand Rapids, Roland Hopkins of Kalkaska, Tracy Hopkins of Florida and Jason (Natalie) Hopkins of Grand Blanc; sister, Connie Smith of Flint; brothers, John Mulholland of Washington, Clarence (Freida) Mulholland, Clark (Sharon) Mulholland of Alpena, Richard (Phyllis) Mulholland of Virginia and Danny (Teresa) Mulholland of Colorado; grandchildren, Danielle, Eric, Andrew, Alexa, Kalah, Natalya, Brandon, Hunter, and Amanda; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
A memorial service was Friday (Nov. 8) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch. The Rev. Richard Whittenburg officiated. Burial was in Deerfield cemetery.

Dewain Edwin Allen
Died: Monday, November 04, 2002

Barnes Lake

Dewain Edwin Allen, 73, of Barnes Lake (formerly of Troy), died Nov. 4, 2002.
He was born May 3, 1929, in Lamotte Township, near Decker, to John and Myrtle (Hill) Allen. He married Arleen M. Powers on April 8, 1950. in Troy.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked skilled trades at Oakland University for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He loved bowling, baseball, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Arleen Allen of Barnes Lake; son, Keith (Annette) Allen of Columbiaville; daughters, Roxanne (Jace) Sears of Kingston and Kathleen (Alan) King of Deford; grandchildren, Casey, Jaried, Dewain G., Amanda, Codey, Kassaundra and Jace Jr.; great-grandson, Dawson; sisters, Iva Davidson of Snover, Ida Fifield of California and Alta Fearn of Sterling Heights; sister-in-law, Gloria Allen of Lapeer; his best friend and nephew, Gary (Pat) Fifield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy in 1995; sisters, Lola Swinson and Rosie Chambers; and brothers, Harry and Stanley Allen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Genesys Hospice.
Funeral services were Friday (Nov. 8) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The. Rev. Robert E. Wall officiated.

Richard Gail Fisher
Died: Sunday, November 03, 2002
Age: 83

Sarasota, Fla.

Richard Gail Fisher, 83, of Sarasota, Fla. (formerly of Pontiac), died Sunday (Nov. 3, 2002).
He was born April 8, 1919, in Pontiac to Joseph and Bertha Fisher.
He served in the Army as a master sergeant during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He retired from Consumers Power Co. in Pontiac after many years of service.
He is survived by his sons, Greg (Bonnie) Fisher of Metamora; step-son, David (Roberta) Herbert of Lake City; daughter, Linda (Rod) Mickens of Shelby; step-daughters, Linda (Mike) Balant of Deltona, Fla., and Peggy (Jim) Perry of Hale; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at Richard's summer residence in Croswell at a later date.
