Ronald F. Carpenter, 67, of Lapeer, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003.
He was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Lapeer, to Schley and Rhea (Alyea) Carpenter. He married Geneva Morris in Lapeer in 1990.
He worked at Speering Tool in Oxford. He enjoyed the outdoors more than anything and attended Calvary Bible Church. He was formerly a Lapeer volunteer fireman and city of Lapeer police officer.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Carpenter of Lapeer; son, Clarke (Kay) Carpenter of North Branch; step-children, Judy (Leo) Kallar of Georgia, Jacqueline (Ralph) Warner of Lapeer, Suzann Lamphier of Lapeer, David Baxter of Brown City, Roger (Pam) Baxter of Lapeer and Laurie (Ricky) Jung of Texas; grandchildren, Melissa Carpenter of North Branch and Nicholas Carpenter of North Branch; great-grandchild, Austen Carpenter; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Vernon (Betty) Carpenter of Capac, Gene Carpenter of Lakeville, Gerald (Helen) Carpenter of Mio, Helen Carpenter of Lapeer, Joan Grinnell of Lapeer, Marilyn (Thomas) Brown of Marlette and Nancy (Dale) Dillon of Lapeer; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Carpenter; son, Kevin Carpenter; and his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 13) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy will officiate. Burial will be in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Frederick Saunders Miller
Died: Sunday, February 09, 2003
Age: 89

Clawson

Frederick Saunders Miller, 89, of Clawson (formerly of Royal Oak and Columbiaville), died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003.
He was born in Detroit to William and Mabelle (Peters) Miller. He married Dorothy Howarth in November 1941.
He served in the Navy under the Naval Intelligence from 1942-1945. He worked for the Detroit Edison Co. for 35 years. He was a lifelong member and deacon of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Royal Oak.
He is survived by his children, Chuck of Toledo, Ohio, and David of Baltimore, Md.; son-in-law, Karl Kennaugh of Royal Oak; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Miller on June 14, 2002; daughter, Joyce Kennaugh; his parents and sister, Alice Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A memorial service was Saturday (Feb. 15) at St. John's Episcopal Church, Royal Oak. There will be no burial. His remains were donated to Wayne State University, Body Bequest Program.

Ralph L. Schwerin
Died: Saturday, February 08, 2003
Age: 76

Sandusky

Ralph L. Schwerin, 76, of Sandusky (formerly of Lapeer), died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at McKenzie Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1926, in Attica Township to John and Bertha (Fischer) Schwerin.
He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Sandusky; daughter, Linda (Don) Nichols of Davison; son, Arnie (Charlene) Schwerin of Metamora; stepsons, Harley Rich, Dave (Nancy) Rich and Jack Rich; grandchildren, Michael (Sharri) Tilley of Davison, Steven Tilley of Burton, Tom (Christine) Schwerin of Ortonville, Tony (Mandy) Schwerin of Lapeer and Teresa (Dan) Liming of Davison; 11 great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandhcildren and step-great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and many nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bernice (Marion) Schwerin; three brothers and two sisters.
Burial was in Lum cemetery, Lum.

Linda S. Baker
Died: Friday, February 07, 2003
Age: 55

Hadley

Linda S. Baker, 55, of Hadley (formerly of Auburn Hills and Detroit), died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003.
She was born May 23, 1947, in Pahokee, Fla., to Roy and Elizabeth (White) Martin. She married Willis "Bill" Baker on Aug. 30, 1969, in Detroit.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working with the senior citizens at OPC in Rochester (Meals on Wheels).
She is survived by her husband, Bill Baker of Hadley; children, Todd W. (Cindy) Baker of Lake Orion and Robin Baker of Hadley; step-children, Athena (Oscar) Macias of Rochester Hills, Kimberly (Jose) delaFuente of Ortonville and David Baker of Pontiac; grandchildren, Nathan Weise, Derek Baker and Caitlyn Baker; four step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, siblings, Sandra (Dennis) Symborski of Hamtramck, Roy Martin Jr. of Roseville and Rebecca Dockery of Detroit; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Elizabeth Martin; brothers, Michael Martin and Donald Martin; step-son, Gordon Baker; brother-in-law, Douglas Baker; and father-in-law, Carl Baker.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Feb. 11) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Tim Hollis officiated. Burial was in Green Corners cemetery, Hadley.

Stephen Andrew Bell
Died: Friday, February 07, 2003
Age: 33

Lapeer

Stephen Andrew Bell, 33, of Lapeer (formerly of Leonard), died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003.
He was born Aug. 12, 1969, in Royal Oak to Earl and Jane (Nieschulz) Bell.
He graduated from Almont High School in 1987. He then earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Lake Superior State University in 1991. He was a proud volunteer firefighter for the city of Lapeer. He worked full time as a public safety officer (both police and firefighting) with the Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department. He loved hunting, fishing and firefighting. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good debate.
He is survived by his mother, Jane Bell of Lapeer; brothers, Thomas E. Bell of Romeo and James W. Bell of Almont; aunts and uncles, Esther Nieschulz of Warren, Arvilla Heck of Standish, Elmer (Betty) Nieschulz of Owendale, Emil (Margaret) Nieschulz of Pigeon and Erwina Hinman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and great-uncle and aunt, Tommy (Connie) Thompson of New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Thomas Bell; and grandparents, Herman and Martha Nieschulz and Erwin and Ruth Bell.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lapeer, and the police or fire department of your choice.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Feb. 11) at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Mark Gilson officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Connie Rae Mosher
Died: Thursday, February 06, 2003
Age: 57

St. Helen

Connie Rae Mosher, 57, of St. Helen (formerly of Elba Twp.), died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003.
She was born June 27, 1945, in Brown City to Hilton and Jennie (Kollman) Stracenrider. She married George Mosher on Nov. 9, 1963.
She is survived by her husband, George; son, Gary; daughter, Susan (Shayne) Moore; grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Casey and Shayne; sister, Evon (William) Demaray; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilton and Jennie Stracenrider.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Monday (Feb. 10) at Brown Funeral Home, Flint. The Rev. Richard Geigert officiated. Burial was in Flint Memorial Park.

Perry E. Bailey Sr.

Perry E. Bailey Sr., 91, of Gladwin (formerly of Dryden), died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003.
He was born Aug. 19, 1911, in Columbus Township of Luce County. He married Evelyn Munson on Sept. 2, 1935, in Manton.
He worked for Fisher Body, Flint, on Coldwater Road, retiring in 1969. He enjoyed helping, visiting and just being around other people. He also loved fishing, traveling, music and dancing.
He is survived by his children, Walter (Patricia) Bailey of Roscommon, Elmer (Grace) Bailey of Lapeer, Linda Sheick of Gladwin, Billie (Linda) Bailey of Attica and Diane Gibbard of Lapeer; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bailey in 1994; son, Perry Bailey Jr.; grandchild, John Walker; and parents, William and Lillie May Bailey.
Funeral services were Saturday (Feb. 8) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. the Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.

Barbara Jeanette Boyer

Barbara Jeanette Boyer, 65, of Attica (formerly of Royal Oak and Warren), died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003.
She was born April 6, 1937, in Detroit to Charles and Monica (Baranowski) Emerson. She married James Herbert Boyer on Feb. 5, 1955, in Washington Township.
She loved her family and friends, and she loved animals. She liked to travel and particularly loved the outdoors and camping. She also liked to play bingo.
She is survived by her children, Jeannette Schutt of Tennessee, Debra (William) Anthony of Columbiaville, James (Maribeth) Boyer of Lapeer and Mary (Craig) Hurd of North Branch; grandchildren, Michelle and Danielle Schutt, Breanna and Bailey Boyer, Hunter Hurd and Mike, Dan and Becky Anthony; brothers, Everett (Jo) Emerson of Utica and Joseph (Mary) Emerson of Centerline; sisters, Elaine (Daniel) Walzack of Attica and Monica (Harold) Parmalee of Warren; special friend, Daniel Vincent of Caro; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Boyer in 1985; daughter, Nancy Kathleen Boyer; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Friday (Feb. 7) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated. Burial was in Attica Township cemetery.
