Gina Maria Sordino, 44, of Imlay City (formerly of Romeo), died Satruday, Dec. 21, 2002, at St. Joseph Mercy of Macomb.
She was born Feb. 24, 1958, in Detroit to Mario and Georgia Sordino.
She grew up in St. Clair Shores. She had been employed by Visteon- Ford Motor at the Utica Trim Plant, and worked there for 26 years. She was a member of the 1976 graduating class of Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores. She was also a member of the United AutoWorkers Local 400.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Whisnant of Imlay City; daughter, Sara Pauline Whisnant of Imlay City; son, Troy Robert Whisnant of Imlay City; step-children, Travis Whisnant of Rochester, Tanya (Eric) Sanders of Florida, Tara Whisnant of Florida and Casey Whisnant of Lapeer; grandchildren, Austin Harmon, Alexia Harmon and Haley Sanders; one brother, two sisters and two step-brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mario and Georgia Sordino; and one step-daughter, Tracey.
Funeral services were Friday (Dec. 27) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Kevin Harbin officiated. Arrangements by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
Alice Knaggs

Lapeer
Alice Knaggs, 74, of Lapeer, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002.
She was born April 7, 1928, in Lapeer to Robert and Hazel (Loucks) Ford.
She was a telephone operator for Michigan Bell. She was also a clerk at the Andress Meat Market in Metamora.
She is survived by her daughter, Judi Ramirez of Lapeer; grandsons, Anthony Ramirez of Lapeer and Todd (Sharron) Ramirez of Lapeer; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jacob; loving friend, Arthur Henry of California; sister-in-law, Barbara Ford of Lapeer; one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Ford, Robert Ford Jr., Gerald Ford, Earl Ford and Donald Ford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance for Mentally Ill.
Funeral services were Monday (Dec. 23) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery in Mayfield Township.

Almont
Mark Alan Brinker, 20, of Almont, died Friday (Dec. 20, 2002).
He was born Sept. 13, 1982, in Centerline to Thomas and Arlene (Thorman) Brinker.
He graduated from Almont High School in 2001. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Romeo. He enjoyed deer hunting, four-wheeling and being with his friends. He leaves behind his beloved family.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Arlene; brothers, Kurt of Romeo and Paul of Rochester; sister, Caren of Almont; girlfriend, Heather; grandparents, Marvin and Leona Thorman; and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday (Dec. 23) at Roth-Muir Funeral Home in Romeo.The Rev. Mark W. Evans of St. John Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was in Romeo cemetery.

Marjorie Elizabeth Huestis

Metamora
Marjorie Elizabeth Huestis, 91, of Metamora (formerly of Farmington Hills-West Bloomfield), died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002.
She was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Veedersburgh, Ind., to J. Fred and Minette "Minnie" (Harris) Parham. She married R.C. "Pat" Huestis.
She was a teacher for a couple of years after her graduation from Indiana University. The vast majority of her life was spent as a loving homemaker and "Nana."
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Johnstone of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Terry (Margaret) Huestis of Metamora; grandchildren, Julie, Tracy, Kelli, Richard, Cheryl, Timothy and Melinda; eight great-grandchildren; and niece, Natalie O'Donnell of Madison, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. "Pat" Huestis; and her parents.

William Lee
Died: Tuesday, December 17, 2002
Age: 55
Romeo
William "Buzz" Lee, 55, of Romeo, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Harper Hospital in Detroit.
He was born Aug. 3, 1947, in Mount Clemens to William and Dorothy (Hill) Lee. He married Vickie Muir on Nov. 6, 1976, in Imlay City.
He graduated from Romeo High School in 1966. He served in the Army's 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, where he served in the battle of Hamburger Hill and received two Purple Hearts. He was a lifetime member of the Striber-McVicar Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2052. He worked for Ameritech for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie; sons, Marc (Jeannie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael of Romeo and David of Romeo; grandchildren, Marc Jr., Morgan and Zoe; mother, Dorothy of Sun City Center, Fla.; sister, Barbara (Don) Ream of Lapeer; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne State University Brain Tumor Research Fund, Attn: Dr. G.R. Barger, M.D., Dept. of Neurology 8D-UHC, 4201 St. Antoine, Detroit, MI 48201.
A veterans memorial service was Dec. 19. Funeral services were Dec. 20 at Romeo United Methodist Church. Burial was in White Chapel cemetery, Troy.

Donna Jean Sisson, 77, of Lapeer, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002.
She was born October 23, 1925, in Petoskey to Milo and Ruth (Gath) Monroe.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Elmer (Sharon) Spencer of Lapeer, Sharon Scharnakau of North Branch, Larry (Cheryl) Spencer of Gladwin, Margie (Bill) Price of Gladwin, Robert (Linda) Spencer of Davison, Donna Wilcox of East China, Sandy (Bill) Hassy of St. Charles and Jackie (Jim) Gark of Columbiaville; daughter-in-law, Sandi Spencer of Lapeer; 26 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and siblings, Alvin Monroe of Davison, Lois Schimmelpfenning of Tennessee, Art Monroe of Metamora, Lloyd Monroe of Rose City, Frances Robinet of Brown City, Milo Monroe of Tennessee and Erma Reed of Lapeer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Spencer; son, Ron Spencer; two infant babies; grandsons, Craig and Jim; great grandson, Ryan James Spencer; parents; and siblings, Carroll Monroe, Mary Monroe and Eleanor Monroe Grossbauer.

Joseph Simon Rodriguez

Joseph Simon Rodriguez, 62, of Imlay City, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron after an extended illness.
He was born May 25, 1940, in Alleyton, Texas, to Maximiliano and Angela (Ruiz) Rodriguez. He married Antonia Jackson on Sept. 9, 1967, in Capac.
He lived most of his life in Almont and Imlay City. He was a member of the graduating Class of 1960 of Almont High School. He was a member of the Imlay City Eagles Club. He was also a member of The Jazmine Band. He was employed as an iron worker at Pontiac Motors Foundry and retired from there in 1985 after 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Antonia Rodriguez of Imlay City; daughter, Josie (Neil) Docherty of Sterling Heights; son, Anthony Joseph (T.J.) Rodriguez of Imlay City; mother, Angela Rodriguez; brothers, David Rodriguez of Imlay City, Max (Nancy) Rodriguez of Brown City and Robert Rodriguez of Lapeer; sisters, Lucy (Ron) Racine of Imlay City, Anita Rodriguez of Imlay City and Lupe Rodriguez of Imlay City; and 33 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maximiliano Rodriguez; nephew, David Rodriguez Jr.; and mother-in-law, Mary Ruth Jackson.
Scripture services were Thursday (Dec. 19) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
Funeral services were Friday (Dec. 20) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Imlay City. The Rev. Gerald Frawley officiated. Burial was in Dawn Memorial cemetery, Lapeer.

Joseph Robert Edwards

Joseph "J.R." Robert Edwards, 53, of North Branch (formerly of Bad Axe), died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) after a long battle with cancer..
He was born on Dec. 23, 1948, in Bad Axe to Robert and Ilene (Ruth) Edwards. He married Larraine Smohn on Sept. 7, 2001.
He owned and operated J.R. Edwards Trucking and Excavating with his son, Brandon. He enjoyed life, particularly his work, trips on his Harley, boating, racing and he had a special love for the water. He loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Larraine Edwards of North Branch; children, Lisa (Brad) Halleck of Bay City, Brandon Edwards of North Branch and Andrea Edwards of Port Huron; step-daughter, Amy Hall of North Branch; mother, Ilene (Dale) Johnson of Bad Axe; brother, Jim (Sharon) Edwards of Mount Pleasant; sister, Kate (Todd) Dubey of Owendale; friends, Glenn Bruce III and Steve Lawson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edwards; sister, Diane Forsyth; infant brother, Richard; and special friend, Richard "Dickie" Ludwig.
