Mary M. Dorner, 80, of Lapeer, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility in Mayfield Township.
She was born May 1, 1922, in Kingston to Claude and Esther (Knowles) Lee. She married Lester Dorner on Oct. 8, 1949, in Columbiaville.
Shewas a past member of the Sweet Adelines and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Esther (Wayne) Freidig of North Dakota; brothers, Jerry (Nancy) Lee of Lennon and Harold (Maxine) Lee of California; sisters, Hazel Leslie of Clio and Dorothy (Roy) Griswold of Columbiaville; grandchildren, Casey and Adam; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 31, 2002; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.
A memorial service was Monday (March 31) at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville. The Rev. Mark Gilson officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery, Columbiaville.

Phyllis Iva (McClelland) Faunce, 66, of Lapeer, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Port Huron to Edgar and Goldie (Oliver) Irvine.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a homemaker for many years, then worked for Hamil Manufacturing which later changed to PSI and ICP until December 2002.
She is survived by her children, Ann (Dennis Hall) Dalgleish of Attica, Beth Winters of Lapeer, Kenneth (Cathy) McClelland of Lapeer, Randy (friend, Tammy) McClelland of Attica and Michael (Diane) McClelland of Lapeer; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Maryann Ward of Detroit; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey McClelland; parents, siblings, Harold, Edgar, Donna, Joyce; former husband, Kenneth E. "Lum" McClelland; and friend, Joyce LeNue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Funeral services were Saturday (March 29) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Goodells.

Ryder Louis Wansedel, 4, of Fostoria, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003.
He was born March 14, 1999, in Troy to Randy and Carmella (Frank) Wansedel.
He was a loving son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, nephew and cousin. He was very active at the Country Christian Church in their JAM Program and the Wee Worship group.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Carmella Wansedel of Fostoria; brothers, Randy Wansedel of Fostoria and Ross Wansedel of Fostoria; grandparents, Richard and Lorre Frank of Sterling Heights, and Sandra Wansedel Dobbs of Chesterfield; and great-grandparents, N. Lorraine (Ray) Dulecki of Madison Heights and Dorothy Calisterio of Warren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Country Christian Church or MOPS program.
Funeral services were Saturday (March 29) at Country Christian Church. The Rev. Roger Keur officiated. Burial was in Deerfield Township cemetery.

Floyd C. Compton, 78, of Lapeer, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003.
He was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Cadiz, Ky., to Walter and Nellie (Sumner) Compton. He married Dorothy Bivins on Dec. 12, 1952.
He was a freight transport trucker. He was a member of the Lighthouse of Lapeer Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Compton of Lapeer; children, Janet (Thomas) Klein of Lapeer, Larry (Sue) Compton of Shelby Township and Jim (Debbie) Compton of Shelby Township; grandchildren, April, Kelli, Justin, Tonya, Michael, Jim, Jeff and Shelby; siblings, Lorene Bower of Kentucky, Lloyd (Thelma) Compton of Kentucky, Opal Joiner of Kentucky, Jerlene Allen of Kentucky and Bobbie Jean Chapman of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Lacy Compton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse of Lapeer Church of God.
Funeral services were Friday (March 28) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Ed Chandler officiated. Burial was in Dawn Memorial cemetery.

James Ernest McDavitt

Sterling Heights
James Ernest McDavitt, 90, of Sterling Heights (formerly of Detroit), died Tuesday, March 25, 2003.
He was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Southeast Hackney, England. He married Ruth Marie Wuestenburg on June 19, 1939, in Detroit.
He was a draftsman for Detroit Edison for 46 years, retiring in 1975.
He is survived by his sons, James A. (Karen) McDavitt of Clinton Township and Bruce McDavitt of Lenox Township; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Jim McDavitt of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Wuestenburg McDavitt; daughter, Margaret Pytlarz; and his parents.

Funeral services were Thursday (March 27) at White Chapel cemetery, Troy. Chaplain Richard Martella officiated. Burial was in White Chapel cemetery, Troy.

Edmund Chester Blue

Edmund "Ed" Chester Blue, 76, of Otisville, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Genesys Hospice Goodrich.
He was born March 30, 1926, to Jesse E. and Cinderella (Thompson) Blue. He married Roseanna Andersonon April 21, 1948, in Lapeer .
He was employed at Sunoco Oil Distributor and was the owner of Ed Blue Oil Co. He was the former Marathon Township clerk, Lapeer County commissioner, past district governor of Lion Club District 11-D and member of Otisville Lions Club. He served on the LakeVille Board of Education and VAAA Board in Flint. He bowled many years on the Lakeville and Columbiaville leagues. He loved to hunt and would rather fish than eat. He was the special uncle to the children of the late Leon and Winnie Traver of Otter Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Roseanna; daughters, Karlene (Bruce) Johnson of Lapeer, Peggy (Bill) Briggs of Otter Lake, Lori (Steve) Conger of Seymour, Tenn., Thyra (friend, Ray Russell) Utley of Davison, Valrie (Michael) Deal of Brighton and Jenny (Bryan) Bobolz of Genesee; grandchildren, Andy and Greg Johnson, Robert and Dustin Ladd, Stephan and E.J. Conger, William, Nicholas Utley, Mitchell Blue, Michael Deal II and Alyssa Bobolz; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Katelyn, Hana and Alicia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Otisville Lions Club, Leader Dogs of Rochester, Genesys Hospice or the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday (March 27) at Hudson Funeral Home, Otisville. The Revs. Joseph Bowen and Bill McKown will officiate. Burial will be in Hollenbeck cemetery, Columbiaville.

Elsie Perry

Elsie Perry, 85, of Lapeer, died Monday, March 24, 2003.
She was the beloved wife of Alfred John Perry for 49 years. She was a member and active participant at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a volunteer with Lapeer Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She took a very active interest in her family's lives.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (William) Haines and Dennis (Christine) Perry; grandchildren, Scott (Elizabeth) Haines, Kari (David) Surbrook, Christopher (Elizabeth) Haines, Alfred (Jacy) Perry, Todd Perry and Diane Perry; and great-grandchildren, Bailey, Spencer, Emma Rose Surbrook and Nicholas Perry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred John Perry in 1987; one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services were Wednesday (March 26) at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer.

Paul G. Schroeder

Paul G. Schroeder, 82, of Attica died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at home.
He was born September 26, 1920, in Flint to Bert and Emma Schroeder. He moved with his family to Attica Township at the age of 12, where he farmed with his father.
He graduated in 1939 from Lapeer High School. He married Lorna Donner of Metamora on Sept. 21, 1945. He farmed with his father and worked at Oakdale Center before retiring in 1984. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Lorna are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lapeer.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna; daughter Marilyn (Bob) Garwolds of Lapeer; sons, Ken (Donda) Schroeder of Attica, Ron (Wendy) Schroeder of Lapeer and Martin (fiancˇ Beth Mitchell of Lapeer) Schroeder of Attica; brothers Russell (Edna) Schroeder of Clio, Roy (Erdene) Schroeder of Mount Morris, Lawrence (Deanna) Schroeder of Davison and Ralph (Fran) Schroeder of Lapeer; sisters Betty (Louis) Wojotowicz of Milan and Ann (the Rev. Fred) Schuster of Bettendorf, Iowa; sister-in-law Evelyn Schroeder of Flint; grandchildren Scott (Kara) Garwolds of Grand Blanc, Amy (Mike) Rissel of Ortonville, Joel Schroeder of Charlotte, Hilarie Schroeder of Cudahy, Wisc., Rachel Schroeder of Ann Arbor, and Alexandra and Abbigale Schroeder of Lapeer; and three great-grandchildren, Skyler, Tyler and Keegan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Joyce; brother, Robert;,and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Donald Grill.
Services were Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lapeer.
