MARGARET A. PETERSON
Age 66, of Tecumseh, formerly of Clinton, died March 27, 2005
She was born April 26, 1938 in Tecumseh, MI the daughter of Clarence and Kathryn (Dermyer) Champanois.
She was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother. She was particularly passionate about her grandchildren. Margaret was employed at Clinton Community Schools for over 28 years, where she enjoyed her job and loved her coworkers. Margaret loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a former member of the Raisin Valley Golf Club.
Margaret is survived by one daughter, Renee Claycomb, and her husband Greg of Avon Lake, OH, one son, Rick Peterson, and his wife Debbie of Saline, one grandson, Brian, twin granddaughters, Lauren and Jennifer; and two brothers, David (Linda) Champanois of New Port Richey, FL, and Clarence C. (Debbie) Champanois of Brooklyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Kathryn, and her sister Beverly Lewis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 31, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, Tecumseh with the Rev. John Landis officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Allen D. Huff
Age 57, of Canandaigua died April 4, 2004 unexpectedly at Bixby Medical Center.
He was born November 24, 1947 in Morenci, MI, the son of Francis and Elaine (Seizert) Huff. On January 17, 1970 he married Janet D. Griesinger in Adrian, MI. She survives.
Allen was a Vietnam Veteran and retired Army National Guardsman. He was a life time member of the Amvets and also a member of the American Legion. He worked many years at Morenci Rubber Products until their closing and then at Hydro Aluminum of Adrian.
In addition to his wife Janet; he is survived by two daughters, Kristin (Donald) Schmitz of Morenci and Jessica (Richard) Somerlott of Saginaw; four grandchildren, Matthew, Brett and Samuel Schmitz, and Carl Logan Somerlott; mother Elaine J. Huff of Canandaigua; and three sisters, Mary (Gary) Merrilat of Evansville, IN, Susan (James) Johnson of Canandaigua, and Laura (Wayne) Canfield of Fayette, OH
He was preceded in death by his father; Francis; brother James; and special friend Cynthia Horton.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with the Rev. Gary Merrilatt officiating. The Michigan National Guard B Company 156 Signal Battalion will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian, with military honors conducted by Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Friday in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Following the funeral and committal services on Friday afternoon, there will be a funeral luncheon held at Randy P. Hill AMVETS Post 1957, Adrian.
Linda Altmann
Age 73, of Tecumseh, went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Risingsun, OH, following a long and lengthy illness.
She was born July 21, 1932 in Pineville, KY, the daughter of Starling and Rosa (Parker) Boatwright.
On January 12, 1962 she married Charles J. Altmann, Sr. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1994.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Rose (Warren) Bell of Milan, Charlene Hawkins of Lansing, Connie (Harold) Mitchem of Risingsun, OH; 5 sons, Roy Samuel (Denise) Brantley of Columbia, TN, Roger Brantley of Tecumseh, David (Margaret) Brantley of Sidney, OH, Chuck (Jackie) Altmann of Tecumseh; 4 step children, Sharon (James) Miracle of Morristown, TN, Ronald (Glenna) Altmann of Henderson, NV, Lawrence Altmann of Morristown, TN, Cheryl (John) Gerber of Tecumseh; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Gracie Miracle of Trenton, and Lucy Bailey of Ewing, VA.
In addition to her husband Charles, Sr. she was preceded in death her parents; her son, Starling Brantley, one brother and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Interment will follow at Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday and from 10:00 am until time of services Tuesday at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Grace Louise Bartlett
Age 82, of Adrian, went to be with her precious Savior on June 20, 2006, at home with all seven of her children and families gathered around her.
Louise was born on November 19, 1923 in Louisa, Kentucky to Virginia Tully Pitman and Smith C. Pitman. She was the oldest child of six.
Louise won a Spelling Bee Contest in grade school and became an avid reader which she continued to be as long as her health would allow. During Louise's 13th year, her mother died in a house fire and Louise assumed responsibility as housekeeper and caregiver for her siblings.
She met the love of her life, Edgar Earl Bartlett on August 13, 1939 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where he was born and raised. Ed's cousin set up their first date which was on "Decoration Day" at Bear Creek cemetery, just out of Spruce Pine. They were married on December 21, 1940 in Elizabethton, Tennessee. They were blessed with eight children to which she stayed close all of her life. The family moved to Michigan in 1956, and most of them have remained in Michigan.
Louise became a young widow at 42, when Ed died suddenly of a heart attack in 1966, leaving Louise with six children still at home to raise. Their youngest child was 13 months old at the time. Louise became not only mother, but supporter, provider, and maintainer of house and home. She raised a large garden every year, and fed her family largely from its produce.
In later years, Louise loved to travel and would take road trips to West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Montana. She also flew to see children in California and Idaho, although her favorite destination was the Great Smoky Mountains in the fall.
She became a Foster Grandparent in 1986 and worked with handicapped children at Sutton School. She especially enjoyed working with Mrs. Hissong, reading to the children and becoming a part of their lives.
Louise was a member of the Bible Missionary Church in Adrian, and loved her church family. Louise leaves behind a great host of friends, as well as family.
Survivors include four daughters: Carolyn Bartlett and Janice Bartlett of Adrian, Dorothy (Wilford) Miller of Detroit, Nancy (Mark) Sawmiller of Caldwell, Idaho, and one former daughter-in-law (Charles), Viola Cousino of Petersburg; three sons: William (Barbara) Bartlett of Midland, Robert (Bonnie) Bartlett of Adrian, and Mark (Susan) Bartlett of Anaconda, Montana. Also surviving are 2 brothers: Robert Pitman and Marian (Smitty) Pitman, both of San Diego, California; and 14 grandchildren, and several close nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Bartlett, her son Charles Bartlett, her parents, and four siblings: Ralph Pitman, who died in infancy, Jean Woods, William Pitman, and her beloved sister, Lucille Wright.
Louise will be greatly missed and is loved by all who knew her. Viewing will be Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 North Adrian Highway, Adrian.
Services will be at Purse Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie McClure of Adrian and Rev. Thomas Jackson of North Carolina officiating on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at1:00pm. Louise will be laid to rest next to her husband at Packard cemetery in Seneca, Michigan.
Joseph “Joe” G. Stevenson
Age 93, of Adrian, passed away, July 3, 2005, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. He was born October 28, 1911 in Saunemin, IL, the son of Robert & Lettie (Worthington) Stevenson. On October 22, 1947, he married Irene Schmidt in Angola, Ind., she preceded him in death. When he was nine his family moved to Britton prior to moving to Adrian in 1926. He was a 1929 graduate of Adrian High School. Joe served in WW II in the US Army and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post #97 for over 50 years, and the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint, the 40 & 8 and a past Member of the Elks. Joe was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing golf. He was retired from the Adrian Post Office after 30 years of service.
Joseph is survived by one daughter Lona (Carey) Pettit of Adrian, two grandsons, Jeremy (Cheryl) Ries of Tipton and Jon (Julie) Ries of Tipton, seven great grandchildren, Kyle, Rachael, Troy, Rebecca, Miranda, Eric, and Andrew Ries and one sister Glyda Shubel of Summerville, SC. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene Agnes Stevenson in 1995, one sister and six brothers
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Joel Sarrualt officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Adrian with Military Honors conducted by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
JERRY KORICAN
BRITTON/TECUMSEH
Gerald "Jerry" Korican, age 56, of Britton & Tecumseh, died October 30, 2006.
He was born September 1, 1950 in Tecumseh, MI, the son of Thomas and Mary (Machacek) Korican.
On April 12, 1975, he married Barbara Branigin, she survives.
Jerry was co-owner of Korican Farms, Britton.
He was a graduate of Britton-Macon High School, Class of 1968, and attended Eastern Michigan University.
Jerry served as Macon Township Constable and was on the board of Blissfield Sugarbeet Growers and Greenstone Farm Credit Services Advisory Board.
He was a member of the Tecumseh Club, Tecumseh Country Club, Crab Orchard Hunt Club, and the American Bohemian Club
In addition to his wife Barb, he is survived by, his daughter, Jennifer and son Greg, both at home; his parents, Thomas and Mary Korican of Britton; sister Marilyn (Michael) Jurasek of Bradenton, FL, Tom (Elaine) Korican of Tecumseh, and Don (Colette) Korican of Britton; double first cousin and faithful golf partner, John T. Korican of Manchester, and 5 nieces and a nephew Jerry was friend to all and will be greatly missed by those whose paths he crossed.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday November 3, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh with Rev. Richard Mortimer and Rev. Richard Bruce officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeway cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy. (M-52) Adrian, MI.

Kenneth R. Jacobs
Adrian
Kenneth R. Jacobs, age 67, passed away November 2, 2006.
Kenneth was born February 17, 1939 in Ottawa Lake, Michigan the son of Frederick and Josephine (Dressler) Jacobs.
On August 10, 1985 he married Kathy Roth in Wauseon, Ohio. She survives. Ken was a 1957 graduate of Tecumseh High School. He was one of the founders along with his brothers of Jacobs Plastics and the Northwestern Ohio Foam Companies. He also worked at Amco Manufacturing in Adrian as maintenance supervisor.
Ken was a member of the Adrian Eagles, AMVETS, 40 & 8, Adrian VFW # 1584, and the American Legion Post #275. Besides his wife Kathy, Ken is survived by his son Raymond Jacobs of Adrian; two sisters Jean Smith of Clearwater, FL and Joann (Jay) Wobser of Toledo; three brothers Delbert (Chris) Jacobs of Tecumseh, Vance (Kathryn) Jacobs of Wauseon, OH, and Lyle (Fay) Jacobs of Adrian; step son Jason Roth of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren Nathan, Ryan, and Bailey Jacobs of Tecumseh; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Janet Anders.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday November 7, 2006 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy. (M-52), Adrian with Pastor Darrell P. Cousino officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery, Adrian with Military honors conducted by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint . Visitation will be 2 - 8 P. M. Monday, November 6, 2006 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Frederick Frank Ruttkofsky, Sr.
Frederick Frank Ruttkofsky, Sr., age 84, of Tecumseh, died November 30, 2006.
Fred was born February 5. 1922 in Romulus, Michigan, the son of John and Clara (Fisher) Ruttkofsky On August 8, 1959 he married Lorrainea Burrow. She preceded him in death. Fred was an avid fisherman and hunter along with his love of farming. He was well known for his love of music and dancing.
He was a past member of the 40 & 8 and the Moose Club.Fred is survived by three sons; Frederick (Dianna) Ruttkofsky, Jr. of Lake City, MI, Douglas (Jan) Ruttkofsky of Tecumseh and Robert (Clara) Ruttkofsky of Tipton, one daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Lentz of Ypsilanti; one stepson Earl "Jim" (Cathy) Burrow of Hudson; three sisters Annette (Harvey) Bolyard of Onsted, Idabelle (Homer) Johnson of Cadmus, and Ruth Stump of Brooklyn; one brother Richard Ruttkofsky of Adrian; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 5 sisters Viola, Olga, Gloria, Evelyn, and Mary; two brothers John and Earl.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, December 4, 2006 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with the Rev. Richard Bruce officiating.
Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
Visitation will be from 4 - 8 P. M. Saturday, December 2, 2006 and 2 - 4 P. M. and 6 - 8 P. M. Sunday, December 3, 2006 and one hour preceding the service Monday at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
