Emma Nestle
Emma C. Nestle, 92, of Alma, formerly of Mancelona, died on Monday, March 27, 2006, at the Masonic Health Care Center in Alma.
She was born on March 15, 1914, in Choteau, Montana, the daughter of Floyd A. and Mae E. (Stillman) Clark.
In 1937 her and her late husband Rowland moved to Mancelona where they owned and operated the Gamble's Store. She also owned her own beauty shop for 11 years.
She was a member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekah's, and the Mancelona Garden Club.
In 1986 her husband Rowland preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were three brothers; Leonard, Donald, infant brother, infant sister and her parents.
She is survived by two brothers, James (Mary) Clark of Cadillac, William (Merla) Clark of Parker, CO.; one sister, Bonnie (Jim) Horgan of Ft. Wayne, In. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church. Rev. Kathy Steen officiated. Interment followed services in Fairview cemetery in Mancelona.
Visitation took place on Friday, March 31, 2006, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church.
Ashley Goltz
Ashley M. Goltz, 18, of Kewadin, died on March 31, 2006, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Ashley was born on July 21, 1987, in Traverse City the daughter of Stephen J. and Candace A. (Windish) Goltz.
She resided in Antrim County her entire life and graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 2005.
She was currently employed by the Rivershore Adult Foster Care Home in Elk Rapids and was enrolled at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Central Lake and enjoyed mushroom hunting.
She is survived by her mother, Candace, of Elk Rapids, her father Stephen of Kewadin, her twin sisters Tiffany and Courtney Goltz of Kewadin and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lois and Joe Goltz, and her maternal grandmother, Velma Windish.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Daniel C. Clark will officiate.
Interment will take place in Southern cemetery in Central Lake.
Memorial contributions may be made to her family.
Nicholas Bingham
Nicholas E. Bingham, 21, of East Jordan, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw, from injuries sustained in a recent logging accident.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan. Interment was in St John Nepomucene Praga cemetery in Jordan Township. The Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., in East Jordan handled arrangements.
Dorothy Schram
Dorothy l. Schram, 64, of Mancelona, died on March 28, 2006, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Kalkaska United Methodist Church. Arrangements were handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Elizabeth Dinger
Elizabeth K. "Betty" Dinger died April 3, 2006 at home. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. at the Alden United Methodist Church with Revs. Jerry Batterbee and Chuck Williams officiating. Internment in Helena Township cemetery.
Charles Vanek
Elk Rapids - Mr. Charles B. Vanek, age 90, of Elk Rapids, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City. Charles was a born March 6, 1916, in Chicago, Il.
He was the son of the late Frank and Blanche Vanek.
He was a veteran of WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart, and was a member of the VFW for 40 years.
Charles was a journeyman plumber specializing in steam and pipe fitting, working in many different locations. He enjoyed working with stained glass with his wife. Charles also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and later in life developed a love for gardening and cooking.
He is survived by his wife Margurette M. of Traverse City, daughter-Julia (John) Anselmo of Kewadin, Mich., son-Bill Babka of White Pigeon, Mich., daughter-Mary Stroupe of Orlean, Ind., grandson-Giancarlo (Jen) Anselmo of North Carolina Grandson-Charles (Tina) Stumpf of Colorado, grand daughter-Monica (Eric) Beckman of Atlanta, Ga., great grandchildren-Jennifer, JoAnne and Jenny Stumpf
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.

Herbert George Fuller
Herbert George Fuller 66, of East Jordan, formerly of Central Lake, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at home.
He was born March 30, 1940, in Central Lake, the son of Quincey and Ruby (Hosler) Fuller.
He resided in Antrim County all of his life and worked for Antrim Dells for the past 20 years, previously working for the Sherman Canning Company in East Jordan as a supervisor.
Herb had a great sense of humor and his greatest love was his family and extended family.
Surviving are six children, Brian (Chris) Fuller, Paul Fuller, Tressa (Jim) Youmans, Rod Fuller (Tom Sheneman), Rebekah Fuller and Spencer Fuller, three sisters, Isabel Lapeer, Betty (Fred) Watros, , Pauline (Bud) Hoogerhyde, two brothers, Richard (Reva) Fuller, Grant (Rose) Fuller, 12 grandchildren, Jackie, Brian, Jeremy, Kevin, Mary, Jason, Garry, Jessica, Stephanie, Danny, Bethany and Mike, three great grandchildren, Cody, Josh and Ian, 23 nieces and nephews, 57 great nieces and nephews, 14 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Herbert Quincey Fuller, a brother Robert, and a sister Cecelia.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Alan Leese officiated. Interment was in Southern cemetery, Central Lake Twp.
Ashely M. Goltz
Ashely M. Goltz 18, of Kewadin, died on March 31, 2006, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Daniel C. Clark officiated.
Interment took place in Southern cemetery in Central Lake.

Alberta Hersha-Corner
Alberta "Bert" Hersha-Corner 75, of Central Lake, died peacefully Friday, April 14, 2006, at home.
Bert was born July 9, 1930, in Ellsworth, the third of twelve children to Frank and Jessie (Kinner) Hersha.
She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1948 and then went to work for the Dingman's Grocery Store and Bachmann's Variety Store in Central Lake. She also worked for the Dura Corporation in East Jordan for many years and numerous other jobs in the area.
She ventured out on her own in the 1970s starting a seamstress and furniture recovering business from her home in Central Lake, working daily until retirement in 1997.
Her interests and hobbies included bowling, sewing, knitting and reading. She also enjoyed walks with her four legged companion, Snoopy.
She is survived by five sisters and three brothers, Elra (Lenora) Hersha of Florida, Virginia Prevo, Hugh (Elaine) Hersha and Darleen (Al) Shafer all of East Jordan, Fawn (Don) Shepard of Lowell, Beverly Stokes of Grand Blanc, Ray (Lucille) Hersha of Newberry and Lorraine (Don) Hoisington of Grand Rapids, an uncle Raymond Kinner of Pellston, several nieces and nephews and very special people in her life, Ruth Tryon and Jack Bodis.
Bert was preceded in death by her husbands Chuck Dunson in 1971 and Dale Corner in 2004, her father in 1980, mother in 1993, sisters Loretta Hersha in 1940 Frankie Percey in 1976 and Donna Finch in 1989.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Charlotte Lundy officiating. Interment was in Southern cemetery, Central Lake Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Munson Hospice.
Emerson A. Ball
Emerson A. Ball, 90, formerly of Sandusky, Boyne City and Charlevoix, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs, Florida with his loving wife Linda and precious daughter Elaine and son-in-law Edward Samczyk at his side, after a valiant struggle following cancer surgery.
Emerson was born August 7, 1915, in Watertown, Mich., to Fred and Carrie (Wedge) Ball. He had two brothers, Leonard & Kenneth (also deceased).
Throughout his life, Emerson explored many avenues; having sailed the Great Lakes on the ore freighters, graduated from GM Tech working for Buick in Flint, Michigan as supervisor of Tool-Dies and Gage inspection and final automotive inspector. He was past president of the Lions Club as well as a former member of the Sandusky city council, and also served on the airport board.
He owned and operated his own farm machinery business, Ball Farm Equipment, in Sandusky for 18 years prior to moving to Boyne City in 1963. He loved to fly and had owned his own airplane. He was also an avid fisherman and gardener.
He spent 35 years in Boyne City where he was night shift superintendent of the former United Technologies Automotive parts plant, retiring in 1983. He and his wife Linda moved to Charlevoix in 1997 and then to Florida in 2003.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda, daughter Elaine (Edward) Samczyk, Sandusky, son Gary Ball, Sandusky; step-children Christopher Fiel, Cheryl (Rob) LaBute, Boyne City, and Monica Fiel, Charlevoix; grandchildren Mike and Todd (Andrea) Ball, Sandusky; Cyndi (Mike) Doherty, Davison; Traci Samczyk, Los Angeles; and Tania Lewis, Port St. Lucie, Fla; five stepgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Eldest son Wayne preceded his death in April 2005.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 20, at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., with the service immediately following.
