Walter Stephenson

Age 76, of Adrian, passed away, January 29, 2009, at Bixby Medical Center. He was born December 16, 1932, in Toledo, OH, the son of George & Lulu (Gammel) Stephenson. On February 21, 1953, he married Neva Stephenson, she preceded him in death.

Walter is survived by his sons, Robbie (Marlene) Stephenson of Tecumseh and Randie (Sonia) Stephenson of Flat Rock, his grandchildren; Elizabeth, Cassie, Aubrey, Susan and Lisa, three great grandchildren, one brother, Clarence (Jackie) Stephenson of Mesa, AZ, one sister, Beatrice Ford of Port Richey, FL.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, his son Rickie, and a brother George.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, February 1, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Interment will follow in Fairfield cemetery with Military Honors with conducted by Adrian VFW Post #1584 Annis-Fint. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Rosemarie Rescigno

Age 58, passed away, January 30, 2009, at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 Whitehall Rd, North Muskegon, MI. Cremation will follow. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI

Age 88, of Detroit, MI, passed away, January 31, 2009, at West Oaks Senior Care Center, Detroit. Graveside services will take place 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Knollwood cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in Knollwood cemetery, Canton, MI. Arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Earl H. King

Age 86, of Raisin Twp, MI, passed away, January 31, 2009, at home. A memorial gathering will take place 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Military Honors will take place at 1:30 PM, conducted by the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Guard Team, Lansing, MI.

Ruth Puffer

Age 93 of Mason, died Feb. 1, 2009. She was born March 19, 1915, in Holloway, the daughter of Ted and Lena (Pocklington) LaBounty. On December 24, 1936 she married Ray Puffer in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1997. Ruth was a graduate of County Normal and Eastern Michigan University. She retired from the Tecumseh Public Schools in 1980. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mason and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. Ruth was a member of Chapter AJ-PEO and Mason Women's Club. In addition to her husband Ray, she was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Mary; and sister June Pichler.

She is survived by two children, Dr. Raymond L. (Kathleen) Puffer of Victorville, CA, and Miriam (Robert) Sybrandy of Lansing; four grandchildren, Ted and Faith Anne Puffer and Thomas Sybrandy and Sarah (Mark) Genovese; sister, Ellen (Clif) Stitt of Jackson, MI, and two brothers, Raymond LaBounty of Townsend, TN, and Donald LaBounty of Ellenton, FL.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday February 5, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh with Rev. William Pinches of the First Presbyterian Church of Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the church, 211 W. Chicago Blvd., Tecumseh, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to: the First Presbyterian Church of Mason Stained Glass Window Fund. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh

Hugo P. Bagozzi

Age 86, of Dearborn Heights, MI, passed away, February 1, 2009, at Oakwood Hospital. Cremation will take place and burial of cremains will take place in St. Hedwig cemetery, Dearborn, MI.

Viola Catherine Cauley

Age 82 years of Onsted, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 1, 2009. Viola was born on June 30, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Lusty. She graduated from St. Michaels in Flint in 1944. Viola married Robert E. Cauley on April 30, 1955 in Flint. After celebrating 50 years of marriage together, Robert preceded her in death on November 30, 2005. Viola was a homemaker, having raised eight children whom she was very proud of. She was an active member of the St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church in the Irish Hills. For over 10 years, she has belonged to a group that has met (at the home of her good friend Lorretta Lambaugh) th 13th of the month to pray the Rosary. She prayed the Rosary of the Devine Chaplet at her home daily. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society.

Viola is survived by her eight children, Patrick Earl (Vicki) Cauley, II of St. Petersburg, FL, Diane (Danny) Bragg of Saline, Elizabeth (Tedd) Bergeron of Ridgeway, Matthew (Lesa) Cauley of Saline, Frederick (Kimberly) Cauley of Brighton, Madeline (Tony) Valdez of Adrian, Michele (Michael) Wehr of Belleville and Ernie Cauley of Onsted, 38 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Doris Jean, and two brothers, Charles and John Lusty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Shrine Church in the Irish Hills with Rev. Father Carl Simon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Shrine cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Adrian. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Shrine Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Dunn Chapel, Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Onsted.

Age 58, resident of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away, January 30, 2009, at home. Cremation arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI.

Jean Jensen

Age 88, of Grosse Pointe, MI, passed away, February 3, 2009, at St. John Macomb Hospital, Warren, MI. Her family has arranged for an immediate cremation and memorial services will be held at a future date.

Laura S. Leyh, age 52, passed away, February 3, 2009, at Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, MI. Her family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation.

Louise M. Klida, age 78, of St. Clair Shores, MI, passed away, February 4, 2009, at home. Her family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation.

Christopher Allen Damaron

Resident of Grass Lake, son of Katrina, and James Damaron, was born November 19, 1990, and passed away February 4, 2009 at the age of 18 years. On December 1, 2007, he became a father at the age of 17. Electing options education to fast track his career, he graduated a full year early with a 3.8 GPA while working two jobs. His family became his fondest thought, Jeremiah his greatest delight and Lindsay his adored fiancé. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart at 5 years of age, and participated in the Awana’s program at Church.

He was a very determined, intelligent, outspoken young man. He was a loving father, devoted fiancé, amazing son, adventurous brother, and friend. From making people laugh to having a debate, he touched many lives with lasting impressive memories. He is survived by his father James (Debbie) Damaron, his mother Katrina (Tracy) Sanford, his son Jeremiah (fiancé Lindsay) Hagerman; his paternal Grandparents Harold (Ruth) Damaron, His Maternal Grandparents Janice (George) Karpo; three brothers Casey Bischoff, Devin Dutton, and Michael Lewis; two sisters Christiana Bischoff and Dana Sanford; several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery, Grass Lake. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on both Monday and Tuesday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Wayne E. Longstreet, age 81, of Irons, MI, passed away, February 6, 2009, at Mercy General Hospital in Muskegon, MI. Cremation arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Peggy Kay Linda Shannon Gibson

Age 62, was born on November 23, 1946. She departed this life on February 7, 2009. Peggy was born in Henderson, Tennessee. She moved to Michigan with her family at an early age. She attended Jackson Public Schools, graduating in 1965. She also attended Jackson Community College, Kellogg Community College and accomplished a degree in Culinary Arts. Peggy was a true to the heart country girl, but her true love was Jehovah God, and with his love he taught her how to truly love her children, family and friends.

She leaves to cherish in her memory; her mother, Ilene Amos (special mother Octivia Stewart), father; Leroy Amos, her children; David, Dawn, Stacey, Trent and Jason, her grandchildren; Davita, David Jr., Antonio, Brandon, Aronnia, J’zsa J’zsa, R’omeoo, Dijon, Mee’rcee’dee’s, Bou’vvea, Brittany, (Amber Brandon) Keith, Asha, Lastajia, Samanda, Tirique, Tyiesha, Treanna, great grandchildren; Khanell, Arrion, Coriyon, Corbin Jr., sisters; Vivian, Daeleen, Jackie, Laura, Glenise, Larisa, Deanna and Yolanda, brothers; Lonnie Jr., Danny, Maurice, Leroy Jr., Michael, Darnelle and (special brother Danielle Stewart). She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her grandparents; Cully and Irene Ross, William and Norciss Long, and her father, Lonnie Long, Sr., children; David and Trent Parcell Gibson, son in law, Calvin Crawford.

Funeral Services, 1:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 1500 Park Drive, Jackson, MI. Cremation will follow. The Family Hour will begin at 12:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall.

Louise A. Harris

Age 95, of Muskegon, MI, passed away, February 8, 2009, at Sanctuary @ McCauley Place in Muskegon, MI. She was born December 7, 1913, in Muskegon, MI, the daughter of Joseph & Frieda (Peterson) Bomers. Her family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation.

Reneé (Archer) Howard

Age 65, of Adrian, passed away unexpectedly, February 8, 2009 at The Toledo Hospital.

At her request, cremation and a private family memorial service have taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Diana M. Spivey

Age 88 of Tecumseh, formerly of Blissfield, passed away, February 11, 2009 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. Diana was born January 27, 1921 in Knott County, Kentucky, the daughter of Garfield and Nancy (Honeycutt) Collins. On September 22, 1939, she married Clyde B. Spivey in Pikeville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2008. Mrs. Spivey was a resident of the Tecumseh and Blissfield areas since 1950. She worked at Meyers Aircraft in Tecumseh and is a member of the Adrian Freewill Baptist Church.

Diana is survived by her four children, Nancy (Elmer) Seeburger of Palmyra, James (Regina) Spivey of Green Valley, Arizona, Linda (Delmas) Dotson of Tecumseh and Clyde (Nancy) Spivey of Blissfield; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Clyde, Diana was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maggie Hall, Myrtle Ward and Eliza Johnson and one brother, Everett Collins.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Chaplain Steve Decker officiating.

Burial will follow in Ridgeway cemetery, Ridgeway. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 P. M., Friday, February 13, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and from 1:00 P. M. to 2:00 P. M. prior to the service on Saturday.

Clara Scanlon

Clara Scanlon, age 87, passed away, February 12, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia, MI. Her family has made arrangments for an immediate cremation. May God rest her soul.

Nelda L. Freshel

Age 76, of Allen Park, MI, passed away, February 13, 2009, at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI. Cremation has taken place. Her family will be holding memorial services on Thursday, February 19, 2009. May God rest her soul.

Bette Jean Williamson

Age 83, of Tecumseh, passed away February 15, 2009 at Bixby Medical Center, Adrian. Bette was born December 31, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Leno and Dorothy (Fallis) Purkey.

In May of 1946 she married Robert Williamson in Tecumseh, MI. She was a graduate of Tecumseh High School.

Bette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. For most of her life she was a legal secretary for Tecumseh city attorneys.

Bette was a long time member of the Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church.

Besides her husband, Robert, Bette is survived by her sons, Robert (Deb) Williamson of Columbus, North Carolina and Barry (Trish) Williamson of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Sharon, Matt, Elizabeth and Joe; great grandchildren, Savannah, Jessica and Keely; brothers Robert Purkey and Richard (Florine) Purkey and Jim (Beverly) Purkey and sister, Lois Tilton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Purkey.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, February 20, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 P. M. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home.

A private family burial will take place at Brookside cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
