Helen A. George
TECUMSEH
Arthur W. George and Helen A. George went to be with their Lord and Savior within 15 minutes of each other on March 24, 2007 at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian surrounded by their loving family.
Arthur was born December 31, 1919 in Britton, MI the son of Ralph and Lenora (Buckles) George. Helen was born October 9, 1919 in Maybee, MI the daughter of Daniel and Grace (Laudenslager) Rehberg. Arthur and Helen were married on October 19, 1940 in Toledo, OH and celebrated 67 years together. They were members of Berean Baptist Church of Adrian. Their love for the Lord was demonstrated through their daily walk and love of others. They were residents of Tecumseh for all their adult lives. They enjoyed traveling the USA together and with friends.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was an avid game player and enjoyed gardening and reading. Arthur graduated from Britton High School in 1937. He had a long career as Chief Inspector at Tecumseh Products Co. retiring in March, 1982 after 35 1/2 years. He liked bowling, golfing, sports on TV and spending time with his family.
Arthur and Helen are survived by their two daughters Janice (Robert) Taylor, Linda (Larry) Lawrence and a son Lynn (Jeanette) George, all of Tecumseh. In addition, there are eight grandchildren; Robin (Ben) Neal of Adrian, Lynne (Carl) Hayes of Milan, David Taylor of Tecumseh, Nathan (Ericka) Lawrence of Palmyra, Trisha (Bobby) Benjamin of Adrian, Christopher Lawrence of Tecumseh, Dustin (Michelle) George of Adrian, Tiffany George of Tecumseh and 11 great grandchildren. Helen is survived by one sister, Wilma ( Leonard) Federer of Ypsilanti and one brother, Donald (Virginia ) Rehberg of Gainsville Georgia and preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Gladys Meska and Janet Pratt. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Helen Ousterhout and Ethel Jewel; and two brothers, Gardner and Harlan George
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Berean Baptist Church, Adrian with Pastors Doug Rogers and Todd Hogue officiating.
Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.
Jeffrey David McNamara "Fester"
HUDSON, MI
Jeffrey "Fester" McNamara, age 38, of Hudson, passed away March 23, 2007.
Jeff was born November 4, 1968 in Adrian, MI the son of Paul and Charlotte (Wilson) McNamara. He was a former, longtime member of a local motorcycle club.
He enjoyed Nascar racing and outdoor activities.
Besides his mother Charlotte, Jeff is survived by three sisters Paula Jean McNamara and her fiancé Scott Smith of Adrian, Pamela (Dan) Morse of Blissfield, and Christine McNamara of Hudson; two daughters, Mikayla and Jeana McNamara of Morenci; grandmother Joanna Wilson of Adrian; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews
Jeff was preceded in death by his father Paul and grandparents Edith and Othmer Herman and Dale Wilson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Friday, March 30, 2007, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. Chris Cadwallader officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood cemetery, Adrian.
Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Ardys Elaine Pence
ADRIAN, MI
Ardys E. Pence, age 67, of Adrian, passed away March 24, 2007.
Ardys was born January 12, 1940 in Macomb County, MI, the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Cilley) Pence.
She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. When younger she had a love of riding horses. Other things she enjoyed was playing bingo, the lottery, cards, and fishing.
Ardys is survived one daughter Pamela Sue Luce Rodriquez of Adrian; one son Walter Owen (Athena) Brown of Adrian; one sister Violet Herman of Manitou Beach; one brother Donnie Pence of Clayton; six grandchildren, Joey, Lyle, Justin, Porsha, Gillian, and Talon; and four great grandchildren, Elena, Christopher, Nick, and Rebecca.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two nephews, Terry and Jimmy Herman.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Tom Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. .
THOMAS JOSEPH SPRUNGER
JACKSON
Thomas Joseph Sprunger, age 47, of Jackson, passed away March 28, 2007. Thomas is survived by his companion, Jodi Kirkland; mother Clara Sprunger; three brothers Earl Jr., Filip (Dawn), and Kevin (Sally) three daughters Chasity, Amanda and Ariel; and one sister Sandra (Dennis) Signor.
He was preceded in death by his father Earl Sr.; a brother Dennis; and Carlyle Nelson.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Abiding Faith Church, 211 Portage Road, Leoni Township with Pastor James Sprunger officiating.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 P. M. Monday, April 2, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie St., Tecumseh and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Abiding Faith Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Arthur VanNieuwenhze
Palmyra, MI
PALMYRA — Arthur VanNieuwenhze, 92, passed away April 4, 2007, at his home of 60 years in Palmyra, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 9, 1914, at home on a farm in Riga. At age 4, the family moved to a farm in Palmyra with a mile riverfront, where he learned to fish and hunt. He kept a love of fishing and camping throughout his life. He served 4 1/2 years in the Armed Services and was a veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, the former Ethel Brownell of Blissfield, who he married in Angola, Ind., in 1946. Together they raised three children, son, Jack of Raisin Center Township, and daughters, Barbara McCarty and Patricia Madincea, who all survive. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, George of Palmyra and Camiel of Adrian; and three sisters, Clara Schwab of Adrian, Mary Houttekier of Blissfield and Mildred of Adrian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Achiel and Alice (VanDahl), immigrants of Belgium; a brother, Henry of Palmyra; and sister, Bertha Ehinger of Holland.
In compliance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial services.

Kiyoko Freshcorn
TECUMSEH, MI
Kiyoko Freshcorn, age 77, of Tecumseh, died April 5, 2007 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born November 21, 1929, in Beppu, Oita, Japan, the daughter of Toyoson and Sujue Nakagawa. On October 19, 1951, she married Billy L. Freshcorn in Fukuoka, Japan. He survives.
Kiyoko was educated in the fine arts of Japanese Tea Ceremony, Flower Arranging, and Kimono making. She was a 4-H instructor for Holloway, Raisin Township.
She was a member of Raisin Holloway Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, Billy, she is survived by 2 sons, Bob Freshcorn of Tecumseh, and Jim (Minnie) Freshcorn of Ridgeway; one daughter, Carol (Thomas) Foreman of Spring Valley, OH; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Toyoson Nakagawa; and 5 sisters.
She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Faith Freshcorn.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m Saturday, April 7, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Gregory Grover officiating. Interment will follow at Raisin Presbyterian cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
SHIRLEY A. CLARK
Adrian, MI
Shirley A. Clark, age 73, of Adrian, passed away April 6, 2007.
Shirley was born May 29, 1933 in West Branch, Michigan the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Kaiser) Guest.
She married Dennis Clark, Sr. and he preceded her in death. She was loved by everybody.
Shirley is survived by one son Joe (Phyllis) Guest; five daughters Sharon Jones, Sharree (Obby) Maschino, Gloria Barnett, Robin Clark, and Sandy (Danny) Gabriel; grandchildren Michael, Michele, Tammy, Doug, Monica, Sandy, Amanda, Kathy, Billy, Bobby, Michelle (NaNa), John, Melissa, Larry, and Kassadee; several great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Besides her husband Dennis, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a son Dennis Clark, Jr. and a grandson Eddie Clark.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with family and friends officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be 2 - 8 P. M. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
PATRICIA H. NASH
Adrian, MI
Patricia H. Nash, age 73, of Adrian, formerly of the Ann Arbor and Dexter area, passed away April 8, 2007.
Patricia was born April 13, 1933 in Detroit the daughter of Richard and Olive (Smith ) Nash. Patricia is survived by two daughters Diana (Robert) Williams of Napoleon and Patti Nichols of Locust Grove, OK; five grandchildren and seven great grand children.
She was preceded in death by a son Richard Winkle; her parents; and two sisters. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Dexter at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Walter Dale Jett, age 82 of Brooklyn passed away April 10, 2007.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI, with Rev. Kelly Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove cemetery, Napoleon, MI with military honors conducted by Wilbert Bartlett American Legion Post #315 of Brooklyn, MI.
