Duane Thomas Gillin
Adrian, MI
Duane T. Gillin, age 83, of Adrian, passed away August 12, 2007.
Duane was born August 20, 1923 in Conemaugh, PA the son of Merton and Jennie (Sensebaugh) Gillin. On June 8, 1947 he married Maxine Robertson in Adrian and they just celebrated 60 years of marriage. She survives.
Duane was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. His loves were pitching horseshoes, hunting, gardening, and being outdoors.
Duane was a member of the Adrian First Church of the Brethren, the Gideon Camp, the Wolverine State Horseshoe Club, and cofounder of the River Raisin Horseshoe Club.
Besides his wife Maxine, Duane is survived by his children Claudia (Thomas) Carpenter, Brenda (Dean) Baumbarger, Martin (Diane) Gillin, and Claude (Barbara) Gillin; sisters Olive Mack, Audrey (Alec) Rorabaugh and Issobelle Randolph; brothers Richard (Willow Jean), Guy (Alma Jean) and Jack (Elsie) Gillin; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev David Morton officiating.
Burial will follow in Ogden Zion cemetery, Blissfield, MI.
Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Tuesday, August 14, 2007 and from 11:00 A. M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Foundation or the Adrian Church of the Brethren.

Ronald Stanley Ott, age 68, of Tecumseh, passed away August 13, 2007.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 P. M. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Edith Ellen Peotter, age 94, of Adrian, died August 14, 2007 at Lynwood Manor, Adrian, MI.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening (8-16-2007) at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday August 17, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Fr. Francis Mossholder officiating.
Interment will follow at 12:00 Noon at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock
Dorothy Damon Allen
Tecumseh, MI
Dorothy Damon Allen, age 84, of Tecumseh, passed away August 18, 2007 of Parkinson's with Lewy Body Disease.
Dorothy was born March 23, 1923 in Sand Creek, Michigan the daughter of Harley and Emma (Lemke) Cole.
On November 18, 1942 she married William Damon, Jr.
He preceded her in death on June 18, 1985. She married Charles Allen on November 15, 1986. He survives.
Dorothy was a resident of the Tecumseh area her entire life. She belonged to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Tecumseh. For many years she worked as the front receptionist and telephone operator for Peerless Gear in Clinton.
Besides her husband Charles, she is survived by two children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren she shared with Bill Damon. Her children are Patrice Damon and William Damon and his wife Linda; three grandchildren, Tamyra, Josh, and Kylar; and three great grandchildren, Bradley, Sarah, and Kiera. She is also survived by two step daughters Carol and Bob Smith and Sue and Tom Popma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Harley Cole; siblings Marie, Sherman, and Alice; and stepson Jack Allen.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday, August 21. 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. John Lohmann officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 7 P. M. Monday, August 20, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Robert R. Roe
Robert R. Roe, age 88, of Clinton passed away August 23, 2007. Robert was born March 17, 1919 in Adrian, Michigan the son of Ezra and Elizabeth (Levelett) Roe.
On September 15, 1940 he married Jennie Eunice King.
She preceded him in death in 1994. Robert was a farmer and excavating contractor. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy.
Robert was a member of the #176 Clinton American Legion Post.
Robert is survived by his children, Douglas Alan (Connie) Roe of Clinton, Richard Raymond Roe of Clinton, Janice Kay (Rick) Knight of Wauchula, FL and Gerald Owen Roe of Milan; brother Furman Roe of Adrian; fifteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Besides his wife Eunice, he was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert Ronald Roe; daughter in law Carrol Roe; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, August 27, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. Richard Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian with military honors conducted by the #176 Clinton American Legion Post. Visitation will be 2 - 8 P. M. Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Lyme Disease Assn (MLDA).
Rachel Ann Herrst
ADRIAN
Rachel Ann Herrst, age 36, of Adrian, passed away, August 26, 2007 at home.
She was born December 15, 1970, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of William and Judith (Perritt) Herrst.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Cody James Herrst; two sisters, Robin (Rodney) Banks and Randi French; all of Adrian, and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held.
Arrangements were entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Lawrence L. Kempf
Onsted, MI
Lawrence L. Kempf, age 78, of Onsted, passed away to be with his Lord August 29, 2007 at Bixby Medical Center surrounded by his wife and children.
Lawrence was born August 4, 1929 in Tecumseh, Michigan the son of Leonard and Marian (Hoag) Kempf.
On August 30, 1952 he married Frances Skinner in Cadiz, Kentucky and today they would have celebrated fifty five years of marriage. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army paratroopers. Family was very important to Lawrence as well as hunting, fishing, and camping which they all enjoyed together.
Lawrence attended Adrian Faith Baptist Church.
Besides his wife Frances, Lawrence is survived by his children Beverly (Gary) Randolph, Larry (Linda) Kempf, Ed Kempf, Evelyn (Matthew) Tredway, and Cindy Rock and her fiancé Ken Wills; brother, Fred Kempf; sisters Helen (Ted) Schmidt, Joann Gritzmaker, Ilene Schmidt, Carolyn Frayer, and Margretta (Ernie) Hooper; sister in law Vonnie Chase; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, two of which were like his children, Bonnie and Roger Hawkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert; and three sisters, Catherine, Joyce, and Margaret.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Pastor Greg Burdine officiating.
Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Friday, August 31, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Robert Ledington
CLINTON
Robert Ledington, age 33, died Friday August 31, 2007, at William R. Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
Viewing will be on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, TECUMSEH.
Funeral services will also take place at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Rev. Chris Cadawallder of Adrian, MI, will officiate.
