HARVEST, Ala. – Jane K. Harlow, 77, of Harvest, whose son lives in Dundee, died Tuesday.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Madison Chapel Funeral Home, Madison, Ala., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Andy Wisner will officiate. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens, Alabama.

Surviving are two sons, including Gregory of Dundee; four daughters; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Edna L. Haynes

June 29, 1924-Oct. 16, 2002

Services have been set for Edna L. Haynes, 78, of Monroe, who died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday at TenderCare of Monroe. She had been ill for eight months.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Kenneth Spain of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born June 29, 1924, in Harrogate, Tenn., she was the daughter of Cornelious and Dora (Crook) Herrell. She married Robert N. Haynes Sr. June 28, 1958, in Clyde, Ohio.

She is survived by a stepson, Robert N. (Emily) Jr. of Monroe and a sister, Betty A. (Allen) Coombe of Monroe.

George Thomas Hill

Oct. 6, 1918-Oct. 17, 2002

TEMPERANCE – George Thomas Hill, 84, of Temperance, formerly of Monroe, died Thursday in his home.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 until services at 4 p.m. Sunday at Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home. The Rev. Phillip S. Dale, associate pastor of Boulevard Church of Christ, Sylvania, Ohio, will officiate.

Born Oct. 6, 1918, in Monroe, he was the son of Charles L. and Jeanette C. (Tattersall) Hill. He married his wife, Malvene M. Boshnakian, 49 years ago.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Roderick (Janet) of Temperance; three daughters, Natalie (Greg Lammie) Hill of Ida, Leslie (Joe Lark) Hill of Toledo and Emilie (Carl) Sangetta of Santa Clara, Calif.; a brother, Charles L. of Monroe; and five grandchildren.

Eugene J. LaChapelle Sr.

Sept. 7, 1925-Oct. 17, 2002

FLAT ROCK – Eugene J. LaChapelle Sr., 77, of Flat Rock died Thursday in his home.

Friends may call until 9 tonight at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at 10 at St. Roch Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard A. Hartmann, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township.

Born Sept. 7, 1925, in Detroit, he was the son of Desire and Helen (Kirk) LaChapelle. He married Blanche A. Loverix June 13, 1953, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wyandotte. She died in 1986.

He is survived by two sons, Eugene Jr. of Trenton and Arthur of Van Buren; two daughters, Suzanne (Alan) Croll of Waterford and Sharon Munoz of Berkley, and six grandchildren.

Lucy Belle Marshall

Feb. 16, 1906-Oct. 16, 2002

BRIGHTON – Services have been set for Lucy Belle Marshall, 96, of Brighton, formerly of Monroe, who died at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe, where she had been since Oct. 8. She had been seriously ill for 1½ weeks.

Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Earle Little Funeral Home, Bacarella Chapel, Moroe, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Dr. Gilson M. Miller, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born Feb. 16, 1909, in Pilot Mountain, N.C., she was the daughter of Jeter Mansfield (J.M.) and Virginia A. (Fulk) Lancaster. She married Olen Alva Marshall July 31, 1933, in Martinsville, Va. He died Feb. 9, 1991.

She is survived by a son, James A. of Bemidji, Minn.; three daughters, Virginia A. (Raymond Johnson) Stevens-Johnson of Petaluma, Calif., Janet E. (Dr. Fred C.) Tinning of Kirksville, Mo., and Lansing and Arlene F. (Douglas) Turner of Brighton; a brother, Neal (Martha) Lancaster of High Point, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Gladys Poore

May 20, 1917 – Oct. 17, 2002

Gladys Poore, 85, of Monroe, died at 7:55 p.m. Thursday at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center. She had been in the nursing home with poor health since June, 2000, and seriously ill since August.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Earle Little Funeral Home, Bacarella chapel. The Rev. Von Loop, pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery, Monroe.

Born May 20, 1917, in Pineville, Ky., she was the daughter of Vernon and Betty (Wright) Thomas. She married James E. Poore on Nov. 3, 1934, in Tazewell, Tenn.; he died Sept. 25, 1986.

She is survived by a son, Jerry (Patricia) Poore of Monroe; a daughter, Mary “Alene” (William A.) Kanitz of Milan; a brother, Jimmy (Flossie) Carmon of Rockholds, Ky.; three sisters, Glessie Howard of Tazewell, Mae (Paul) Surbaugh of Panama City, Fla., and Georgia (Howard) Broemker of Cincinnati, Ohio; a stepsister, Stella Duncan of Tazewell; four grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Arlie (Fuzzy) Brantley Jr.

April 1, 1934-Oct. 16, 2002

Services have been set for Arlie (Fuzzy) Brantley Jr., 68, of Monroe, who died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday in the Monroe home of his daughter, Donna Schehr, following a long illness.

Friends may call until 9 tonight at Allore Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Chaplain Theresa M. Marchese of Mercy Memorial Hospital will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Born April 1, 1934, in LaFollette, Tenn., he was the son of Arlie and Emmie (Golden-Williamson) Brantley. He married Shirley Mae Cook May 28, 1955, in Monroe. She died Nov. 25.

He is survived by three sons, Tim and Scottie L. (Amy), both of Monroe and Robert M. of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Helen M. Casto, Donna D. (Terry) Schehr, Frances K. Byrd and Monica M. (Don) Love, all of Monroe; five sisters, Hazel Parks and Dorothy McCreary, both of LaFollette, Tenn., Jeanneva Goins of Chicago, Juanita (Harry) Hellard of Dayton, Ohio, and Nadine Brantley of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lydia M. Heck

Feb. 27, 1917 – Oct. 18, 2002

Lydia M. Heck, 85, of Monroe died at 2:20 a.m. Friday in her home. She had been seriously ill the last month.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe. She will lie in state at noon Monday at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ida, where services will be held at 1 p.m. The Rev. Bruce K. Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born Feb. 27, 1917, in Ida she was the daughter of Adolph and Rose (Metz) Stotz. She married Wilbur D. Heck March 5, 1949, at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She was employed as a bus driver for nine years with Monroe Public Schools in the 1960s and 1970s. She was the first female bus driver in the Custer School District.

She was a member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau, East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society, and was a former Sunday School teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur of Monroe; five sons, Gerald (Diane), Robert (Annette), Thomas (Donna), Duane, and Lauren, all of Monroe, a daughter, Martha Heck of Oregon, Ohio; two brothers, Erhard (Donna ) Stotz and Herbert Stotz of Ida, and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Stotz.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe or the East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Gene J. Jacobs

Jan. 10, 1931 – Oct. 17, 2002

Gene J. Jacobs, 71, died Thursday in his home. He had been ill the past five months.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight and from noon to nine Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where the rosary will be read at 4 p.m. Sunday. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, then at 10:30 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church. The Rev. Terrence Kerner will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park under the auspices of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to Katie Zawodny of Toledo, who Mr. Jacobs made his home with, he is survived by two sons, Ronald J. of Monroe and Christopher L. of LaSalle; two daughters, Jacqueline J. (Richard) Knapp, and Lisa M. (Forrest) Chambers, both of Monroe; three brothers, James of LaSalle, Glen of Ida, and Ed (Jean) of Toledo; two sisters, JoAnna Borck of Temperance, and Mary (Ethern) Lambert of Monroe; and four granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Kehrer, and an infant brother.

David H. Maurer

Oct. 29, 1927 – Oct. 18, 2002

David H. Maurer, 74, of Monroe died at 10:12 a.m. Friday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Timothy Babcock, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, will officiate. Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will also perform a service. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.

He is survived by a brother, Dale W. (Carrie) of Monroe; three sisters, June M. Maurer of Farmington Hills, and Lois J. (Ronald) Stotz, and Emma Lou (Paul) Hedrick, both of Monroe.

Charles James Siterlet

Feb. 7, 1929 – Oct. 18, 2002

Charles James Siterlet, 73, of Monroe died at 12:15 a.m. Friday in his home. He had been ill since July.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Allore Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Terrence Kerner, St. Johns Catholic Church, will officiate.

He made his home with Janith Brooks in Monroe the past 20 years.

In addition to Ms. Brooks, he is survived by two sons, Charles Thomas and Terry; two stepsons, John Brooks of Las Vegas, and George (Margaret) Brooks of Carleton; two daughters, Cindy and Suzanne; six stepdaughters, Geneva (Dave) Loop of Ida, Holly (Paul) Hinkley, Julie (Richard) Jay, Jacquelyn McDonald, Becky Brooks and Barbara Brooks, all of Monroe, a brother, Donald of Michigan; four sisters, Jenny Bost, Mary Bertha Wohlfiel, Florence (Clarence) Roof, all of Carleton, and Anne (Patrick) Basile of Monroe, and several grandchildren, 19 step grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Thelma, he was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Steven.

Donna May Hammermaster

July 19, 1925 – Oct. 17, 2002

FLAT ROCK – Donna May Hammermaster, 77, of Flat Rock died Thursday at Oakwood South Shore Medical Center, Trenton.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock. She will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Community Lutheran Church, Flat Rock, where services will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. David P. Gohn will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.

She is survived by four brothers, Gene Alcorn of New Castle, Wy., Terry Alcorn of Texas, Larry Alcorn and Sheridan Alcorn, homes not given; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Lee Weisbecker who died in 1985.
