FANZINI, JAMES NELSON; age 73; Attorney and Professional Civil Engineer; a long time resident of Farmington Hills; passed away in Thailand on October 24, 2007. Jim was a graduate of Farmington High School (1952), Wayne State University College of Engineering (1961) and the Wayne State University Law School (1966). He served in the US Army for four years as a Radio Traffic Analyst during the Korean War. Upon completion of his education in 1966, he passed the Michigan Professional Engineering and Michigan Bar examinations during the same summer. During Jim's professional career he worked for the Detroit Water Board and the United States Overseas Mission. He founded and managed Environmental Engineering Inc., of Royal Oak and had been the County Engineer for Livingston Co., Jim most recently served as the head of Right of Way for the Engineering Department of the Oakland Co. Road Commission, from which he retired in 2002. Jim loved to travel and saw much of the world during his lifetime, traveling to South America, Australia, and extensively in Southeast Asia. He was an avid reader, amateur astronomer and a member of the Detroit Astronomical Society. Jim was generous to those in need and counted among his friends people of many languages, religions and cultures. Jim dedicated much of his energy after his retirement to improving living conditions for the people of rural Thailand. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Jim is survived by his three children, Angelyn (David) Lynch of Farmington Hills, J. Scott (Sara) Fanzini, of St. Joseph, and Nelson (Kari) Fanzini of White Lake; his cherished grandchildren Jacob, Hannah, Amber, Alyssa and Lillian Fanzini. Jim is also survived by his sister Patricia Cameron, many loving nieces, nephews, other family members and his former spouse and dear friend, Nancy Fanzini of Farmington Hills. JUREK, JOHN S.; age 90; of Rochester Hills; October 26, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Mary with whom he shared 35 years; father of Michelle (Roger) VanConant, Michael (Rosa), and Mark (Debra); grandfather of Randy, Nichole, Jennifer, and Michelle. A U.S. Army WWII veteran. Mr. Jurek retired from G.M. in 1983. He also ushered at Sacred Heart Parish for many years. KNECHTEL, JUDY ANN; of White Lake; October 22, 2007; at 66 years of age. Judy was born on May 7, 1941 in Cass City. The daughter of the late Joseph and the late Martha Harbec. Mrs. Knechtel grew up in Cass City before she moved to White Lake. Judy was preceded in death by her husband James L. Knechtel who died April 21, 2006. She is survived by her four children, Richard Knechtel of Waterford, Scott (Laura) Knechtel of Naples, FL, Bobbi Jo Knechtel of Ypsilanti and Terry (Krystyn) Knechtel of Waterford; she is also survived by her three grandchildren, Kylee, Korie and Jayme; and by her dog Bear. McDONALD, ALEXANDER D.; age 77 of Walled Lake; died October 26, 2007. Beloved husband of 38 years to Mary Ann McDonald; loving brother of Eileen (James) Caton and the late Hugh McDonald; dear uncle of many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Alex was a graduate of the Palestrina Institute of Ecclesiastical Music, Bachelor and Master of Arts from Wayne State University, and Doctoral Studies at the University of Michigan. Alex was a Fine Arts Faculty Member at Marian College, Indianapolis and the Detroit Institute of Technology. He was Organist and Choir Director at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, St. Alexander Catholic Church in Farmington, and St. William Catholic Church in Walled Lake. Alex lent his lyric baritone voice to many religious services and special occasions while meeting the challenges of living with diabetes for 64 years. Memorial Mass to be held at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 Ten Mile Road, Novi Tuesday 7 p.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Southfield. Juan later moved to Pontiac in 1986, and had recently relocated to Tampa, Florida with his wife Lori Osorio and children. Mr. Osorio leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Lori Osorio of Tampa, FL; one son, Juan Miguel Osorio, Jr.; two stepchildren, Tierra Anderson and Edward Smith; parents, Miguel Osorio and Migdalia Lorenzo; step-parents, Esteban Bernard and Sophia Torres; three sisters, Ruth Sanders, Elizabeth Osorio, Lourdes Toomajan; one brother, Pablo Osorio; 9 nieces and nephews; 12 aunts; 10 uncles; host of cousins; mother and father-in-law, Jon and Tanual Bennett; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
