West, Lodema L.
September 16, 1907 - June 19, 2005

Lodema L. West, 97, of Rosebush, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 19, 2005.

Funeral services for Lodema will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Lutes officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 23, 2005 from 10 a.m. until time of service at the Clark Funeral Chapel. Lodema suggested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Central Michigan.

Lodema was born to Estella T. (Mowery) and George W. Nixon on September 16, 1907 in Oreville, Ohio. She married Harold J. West on January 19, 1929 in Logan, Ohio. Lodema lived in Rosebush since 1930. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Mt. Pleasant. Lodema was an elementary school teacher before marriage, a homemaker, mother, friend and volunteer for many organizations. In 1979 she was named the Gold Key Senior Volunteer of the Year in Isabella County. She won many awards for beautiful quilts and Afghans she made.

Lodema is survived by a son, Ronald (Marlies) of Boulder, Colorado; brother, Orville Nixon of Durand; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and her devoted friend and caregiver, Marcia Miller.

Lodema was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold West, son H. James West; two grandsons, David and Kevin West and brothers, Harold and Kenneth Nixon.

Her family and friends will remember her for many reasons, including her curiosity, sense of humor, tolerance, abundant love, and, of course, for her love of wrestling on TV.

Hamilton, Arthur
March 12, 1953 - June 16, 2005

Arthur Hamilton, 53, of Rosebush, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at his home.
Cremation has taken place.

Jordan, Cary
December 4, 1953 - June 16, 2005

Cary A. Jordan, 51, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cary was born on December 4, 1953, in Northville, the son of Leroy and Mary (Sockow) Jordan Sr. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Cary worked for Ford Motor Company for 27 years and most recently, Soaring Eagle Casino. He enjoyed camping, golfing, NASCAR racing and tinkering in the garage.

Cary is survived by his children, Nancy Bloss, Steven Jordan and Kyle Jordan; brothers, Leroy Jordan Jr., Danny Jordan and Fred Jordan and his sister, Diane Jordan.

Cary was preceded in death by his parents.

Schafer, Doug Dale
September 23, 1971 - June 14, 2005

Doug Dale Schafer, age 33, of Weidman passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Butterworth Medical Center in Grand Rapids

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 11am from the Clark Funeral Chapel. Friends may call on Thursday, June 16, 2005 from 5-9 p.m. and on Friday, June 17, 2005 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral Chapel

Doug was born September 23, 1971 in Mt. Pleasant, MI., the son of Roger and Marilyn (Wise) Schafer. Doug worked in construction in the Mid-Michigan area and was a member of the National Rifle Assoc (NRA). Doug enjoyed hunting and having a good time with family and friends.

Doug is survived by his parents; Roger and Marilyn (Wise) Schafer of Weidman, children, Nathan and Kayla Berry, brothers; Roger Allen Schafer of Edmore, and Brad Lee Schafer of Weidman. Sister, Christin Ruth Bartlett of Farwell. Doug is also survived by nieces and nephews; Melissa, Jennifer, Devin, Michael, Emily, Mathew, Jacob, Megan, Britany, Hunter and Hudson. Along with a Great Nephew, Caleb.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Hazel Schafer, Dave and Bernice Wise.

Floyd, James A.
June 3, 1979 - June 14, 2005

James “Jimmy” A. Floyd, 26, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Funeral services for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doyle Perry and Rev. Joseph Sprague officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2005 from 2-9 p.m. with a prayer service from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Jimmy was born on June 3, 1979 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Frederick and Darlene (Chamberlain) Floyd. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and enjoyed drawing and building Lego models, car models and boats.

Jimmy is survived by his mother, Darlene (James) Highley of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Casey and Austin Floyd of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Sabrina Floyd of Mt. Pleasant; nieces, Alyssa Acuna and Kimberly Hernandez and one nephew, Keczhig Floyd.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Fred Floyd in 1993; grandmother, Judy Floyd in 1994; grandmother, Shirley Day in 2005 and great-grandmother, Eleanor Sprague in 2005.

McDuff, Don L.
September 16, 1921 - June 13, 2005

Don l. McDuff, 84, of Mt. Pleasant formerly of Traverse City, went to meet his maker unexpectly on June 13, 2005. Don was born in Gladwin City, Michigan on September 16, 1921, to the late Russell D. and Leora M. McDuff. After a stellar childhood, Don enlisted to fight in WWII served his time and won the war. Uponreturning home, Don enrolled in college, graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in education. He packed up his beautiful wife, Alice and moved to Traverse City, MI.
Don began his career teaching at the Old Union School in the late 1940s. From there, the majority of his teaching was at Glenn Loomis Elementary School.
The man had many loves in this world but his No. 1 love in his life was his wife of 57 years, Alice McDuff of Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving are his kids, Sandy (John) Gavaldon of Traverse City, Paul (Debbie aka Pumpkin) McDuff and Bo of Mt. Pleasant, Carol (Tom) Worde of Gaylord, Cathy (Mel) McDuff of Alma, Pat (Chris) McDuff of Holland and Tim McDuff of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and one brother, Phil McDuff of Plymouth. Don was preceded in death by his sons Michael and Dan McDuff. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, July 2 at the Dean McDuff residence, 1514 Carnahan Place, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial donations may be made to a library of the donor's choice to buy a book in Don's memory.

Vine, Florence
April 3, 1905 - June 12, 2005

Florence Vine, 84, of Wheeler passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Gratiot Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place.

Gilpin, Susan E.
April 10, 1962 - June 10, 2005

Susan Elaine Gilpin, 43, passed from this life to be with Jesus on June 10, 2005 at her home.
Funeral services for Susan will be held on Monday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Messrs. Ivan Odor, Mark Christian and Jeff Gritton officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 11, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 12 for
2-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Great Lakes Christian College Doty Center Building Fund (Bricks), 6211 West Willow highway, Lansing, MI 48917.
Susan Was born the daughter of Noel and Gayleen Beavers on April 10, 1962, Danville, IL. She married David Gilpin on July 18, 1981, in Lansing. She was employed as the Union Township Clerk for the Charter Township of Union. Susan was very active in the First Church of Christ as well as in the community. Her beautiful voice brought inspiration and pleasure to many as she presented concerts and musical programs throughout Michigan and other states. Susan was a member of the First Church of Christ and sang in the Tri-State Area (Michigan/Indiana/Ohio). She was a 4-H Aim High horse leader. She served as Past President of Christian Workers.
Susan is survived by her husband, David; children, Amanda, Sarah, Jared and Isaac all of Mt. Pleasant; in-laws, Richard and Evaline Gilpin of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Phillip Beavers (Judy) of Dewitt; and sister, Janice Beavers of Madison Heights.
Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Brian Beavers.

Lockwood, Donald L.
April 3, 1931 - June 8, 2005

Donald L. Lockwood, 74, of Rosebush passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Country Place Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Don will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Mary Anne Evans-Justin and Rev. Jack Roomsburg officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fort Custer cemetery. The family will receive on Saturday, June 11, 2005 from 11 a.m. until time of service at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. The family will receive friends and family at Galesburg City Hall immediately after the ceremony at Fort Custer.

Don was born on April 3, 1931, in Concord, MI, the son of Charles and Orpha Louise (Noble) Lockwood. He received a Purple Heart while serving in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Don worked as a mechanic for Titus Construction and was a member of the Labors International Union of North America. Don married Evelyn Morley on October 29, 1951 and later married Dolores Ann Cluley on January 27, 1990. He was a member of the D.A.V. (Buck Crosby Chapter) and he was active with the Big Brothers of America and received an award for outstanding service. Don was a service manager at several Battle Creek area automobile dealership’s and received the gold wrench Award for top mechanics’.

Don is survived by his wife Dolores; children, Donald (Kathy) Lockwood, Michael Lockwood, Dawn (Garry) Henson, Michelle (Chris) Elsey, Angela Swarms (Fred), David Cluley, Diane Barnard and Denis Cluley; grandchildren, Nicole, Melissa, Jessica, Derek, Heidi, Tara, Danielle, Brandi, Jeremy, Joshua, Kandy, Jenny and Shawn Elsey Andrea (Jeremy) Laney, Michelle (Zack) Anderson, Bobbie (Nicholas) Neff, Christopher, Nicholas and Heather Cluley, Jason Barnard, Kandy Elsey, Jenny Elsey and Shawn Elsey; Great-grandchildren, Jasmin, Troy, Mike, Lillian, Caden and Jade; and sisters, Alice (Russell) Bissell, Nancy (Thomas) Kirby, Margaret Negus (Richard Daly), Lois (Robert) Rice and Thomas (Karlen) Lockwood.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Cleveland, Shelva
April 6, 1951 - June 6, 2005

Shelva Jean Cleveland, 54, of Clare passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Shelva will be held on Friday, June 10, 2005 at 6 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harold Owens officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 9, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, June 10, 2005 from 3 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clare & Isabella Animal Shelter for free spaying and neutering. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Shelva was born on April 6, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Joseph and Irma (Kampf) Berthume, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Coleman High School, class of 1969. Shelva married Myron Cleveland in November 1969. He preceded her in death in January 1988. She worked at the Soaring Eagle Casino as timekeeper for five years and sold Avon, Artex and Tri-chem. Shelva was manager of delivery for Detroit News and Saginaw News and enjoyed babysitting. Her grandchildren were her greatest loves. Shelva was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Farwell. She loved her cats, Patches, Flint, Hopey, Bat Boy and Pretty.

Shelva is survived by her children; Jennifer (Ed) Lewis of Farwell, Schannel Cleveland of Clare, Penny (Chris) Brewer of Farwell, Amber (Rene) Alaniz of Lake Isabella and Adam Cleveland of Clare; five grandchildren, Becca and Corbin Brewer and Sequoya, Okilani and Rumualda Alaniz; one brother, Joseph (Natalie) Berthume of Mancelona and one sister, Marge (Ray) Elliott of Mt. Pleasant.

Schwier, Doris A.
July 5, 1949 - June 5, 2005

Doris Ann Schweier, 55, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at her home. Cremation has taken place.

Fahr, Elsa M.
September 22, 1902 - September 4, 2005

Elsa M. Fahr, 102, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2005, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Memorial services for Elsa will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Maplewood Assisted Living with Dr. Scott McKee and Rev. Ralph Fisher officiating. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, Illinois, at a later date. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, from 4-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Elsa was born on September 22, 1902, in Germany. She married Erich O. Fahr on April 14, 1922, in Germany. Elsa was a member of the Ladies Aide Society of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Joliet, Illinois. During WWII Elsa worked for the Red Cross. She enjoyed the many friends and staff at Maplewood. Elsa loved and cherished her family.

Elsa is survived by her grandchildren, Brad (Deb) Fahr of Mt. Pleasant, Cindy (Michael) Gwodz of Sydney, Australia, Pam (Jim) Stein and Stephanie Fahr, both of California; great-grandchildren, Erich Fahr of Sandusky, Ohio, Matt Fahr of Mt. Pleasant, Kylie and Beth Gwodz of Sydney, Australia, and Nicole Ramsdorfer of California.

Elsa was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erich O. Fahr; son, Raymond Fahr; granddaughters, Melanie and Alison Fahr.

Davis, Lee Howard
November 2, 1939 - September 3, 2005

Lee Howard Davis, 65, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw.

Funeral services for Lee will take place on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ivan Odor officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 5th from 3-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Lee’s grandson Jacob Davis to Child and Family Life; Mott Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Lee was born on November 2, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Vernell and Donna (Fair) Davis. He served in the United States Navy. Lee married Judith Mathews on June 22, 1963 in Hermosa Beach, CA. He was a Police Officer for the Isabella County Sheriffs Department for 20 years retiring in 1987.

Lee is survived by his wife, Judith of Mt. Pleasant; son, Eric (Michelle) Davis of St. Clair Shores; daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Cummings and Natali (Dan) Covell both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Nathan; Hannah and Nole; sister, Gail (Bob) McDonald; brother, Larry (Monica) Davis; aunt, Verda Marie Davis Gwaltney all of Mt. Pleasant and many nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jacob Davis.

Rossner, Lydia
April 8, 1917 - September 2, 2005

Lydia Rossner, 88, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, September 2, 2005 at Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant.

Graveside services for Lydia will take place at Lakeview cemetery in Skaneateles, NY. A Memorial service for Lydia will be Monday, September 12, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. from the Rosebush United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Buchner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Rosebush United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Lydia was born on April 8, 1917 the daughter of Paul and Marta Pakler. She worked as a Pharmacist and Chemist for Cowles Chemical Co. in New York.

Lydia is survived by her daughter, Marje Bair of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Jeff, Matthew and Chris Bair all of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Ants Pakler; sister, Marta Raisma of Estonia.

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, Marta and Paul Pakler and husband, Roman Rossner in 1959.

Wisnewski, Thomas John
July 24, 1922 - September 21, 2005

Thomas John Wisnewski, 83, of Midland, formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Brittany Manor in Midland.

A Funeral Mass for Tom will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 10 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes and Sister Andre Kravec officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Henry cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and on Saturday, September 24, 2005 from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. A prayer service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Tom was born on July 24, 1922 in Kingston, PA the son of Thomas Victor and Mary Gradzki (Wilczak) Wisnewski. He served in the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant during World War II. Tom received the American Campaign Medal w/ 1 bronze star, good conduct medal and WWII victory medal with 1 overseas service bar. He married June Gloria Ewald on March 3, 1945 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Tom retired from Dow Chemical in 1982. He liked cooking, gardening, traveling and making wine, donuts and kielbasa.

Tom is survived by his children, Diane (Wayne) Castleberry of Richmond, VA, Sharon (Tom) Adragna of The Villages, FL, Joann (Roger) Hoggard of Midland, Marianne Benson and friend, Harold of Chadron, NE and Tom (Julie) Wisnewski of Zionsville, IN; Ten grandchildren, Three great-grandchildren; one brother, Zigfred (Sabrina) Wisnewski of Chandler, AZ and sisters, Johanna (Richard) Holtmeyer of Palm Harbor, FL and Frances Bailey of Bethesda, MD.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, June on July 25, 2004; his parents; step sisters, Anne Domaldovich, Amelia Romuthoski and Bertha Schiavone and step brothers, Ed Wisnewski and Stephen Wilczak.
