Shaner, Rosella J.

Rosella J. Shaner, 79, of Lake passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2005 at her home.
Memorial services for Rosella will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 1 p.m. from Gilmore Church of Christ with Pastor Ray Merritt officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel and the church.
Rosella was born on May 13, 1926, in Coldwater Twp., Isabella County, the daughter of Leon and Charlotte (Shilling) Hart. She graduated from Weidman High School, class of 1943. Rosella married Clarence Shaner on June 17, 1944 at the Methodist church in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2002. She worked for Central Michigan Community Hospital for many years before retiring in 1985. Rosella was a member of the Gilmore Church of Christ and a former member of the merry-go-round (quilting) club. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, the Friday night fish fry, crafting, flowers and camping.
Rosella is survived by her children, Allen Shaner of Lake, Walter (Suki) Shaner of Olympia, WA, Charlene (Robert) Fick of San Antonio, FL and Stanley (Kathy) Shaner of Lake; Thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Donna (Wayne) Curtiss of Lake.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Roger and Gaylord and grandson, Edward Riley.
Liese, Joseph
May 5, 1930 - July 20, 2005
Joseph Liese, 75, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Funeral services for Joseph will be held on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wayne Price officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 22, 2005 from 9 a.m. until time of service at the chapel.
Petoskey, Donald James
May 4, 1931 - July 19, 2005
Donald James Petoskey, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at his home with his family by his side, after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services for Donald will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Garden cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21st from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, July 22nd from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or Great Lakes Renal Network. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Donald was born May 4, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Della Mae (Ludwig) and Brazil Petoskey. He married Norma Jean Rouch on January 6, 1952. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Dow Chemical Co. retiring in January of 1986. Donald also owned and operated the Petoskey Superette for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping and his huge garden.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Roger) Roberson of Mt. Pleasant; Cathleen (Michael) Starry of Alma; grandchildren, Kent Roberson of Mt. Pleasant; Richard Starry of Boston, MA; Nathaniel (Lisa) Starry of Shepherd; Joshua (Dawn) Starry and Ryan Starry both of Alma; brother, Laverne (Barb) Petoskey of Mendon, MI; sisters, Lillian Ervin of Rosebush; Della Petoskey of Mt. Pleasant and Betty (Donald) Hoffman of Fremont, OH; many nieces and nephews; also by his special friend Louise Yuncker of Mt. Pleasant.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Petoskey in October of 1984; parents; sisters, Florence Casner; Irene Gilbert; Mildred Moore; Dorothy Petoskey and Gladys Gillespie; brothers, Clifford and Ronald Petoskey.

Anna Katherine Theisen, infant daughter of Mark and Lori Theisen passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 10a.m. at Two Rivers cemetery.
Losey, Harold L.
May 27, 1918 - July 16, 2005
Harold L. Losey, 87, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, July 16, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
Graveside Services for Harold will be held on Monday July 18 at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pastor Samuel Reith of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.
Harold was born May 27, 1918, in Weidman, Michigan, the son of Charlie and Hattie Losey.
He graduated from Weidman High School. On April 27, 1946, Harold married Lois (Hunt) Losey. Harold worked for Ferro Manufacturing in Mt. Pleasant for 32 years before retiring in 1981. During the same time he also farmed. His hobbies included farming, hunting, traveling, and square dancing.
Harold is survived by his wife, Lois of Mt. Pleasant; children, Shari (Dan) Lorenz and Ronald (Ann) Losey both of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Ardis (Theron) Merrihew of Mt. Pleasant.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Gerald Losey.
Parkins, Margaret B.
May 1, 1922 - July 14, 2005
Margaret Parkins, 83, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Isabella County Medical Care Facility, in the company of family members.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Friends of Isabella Seniors or to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at Clark Funeral Chapel. A reception for family and friends will be announce later.
Margaret was born to Samuel J. Brown and Mamie Infinger Brown of Kingstree, S.C. She was the youngest of three brothers and four sisters and last survivor of her birth family. Two brothers, in the tradition of her mother's family, were ministers and served in many southeastern Georgia pulpits. Uncle Cavey Infinger had preformed the wedding ceremony for the young couple who were to become First Lady and President Carter.
Margaret graduated early from high school in Garfield, Georgia and attended two small colleges in the area. At eighteen she began taching, faced at first with an elementary class of fifty students in Pridgeon, Georgia. The next year she joined her oldest sister, evelyn, in Washington, D.C. There she worked briefly for private employers before volunteering among the first of new Navy unit, WAVES.
Following WWII, Margaret again joined Evelyn, this time in Chicago. She enrolled in the University of Chicago to work on an M.A. in Human Development, which she earned. Meanwhile, she met and married another Navy veteran, Ivan Parkins, also a graduate student. Margaret and Ivan were married July 6, 1946, on the University Campus. During the more than fifty-nine years which followed they produced Susan Parkins Hinkle (Ray) of Grand Rapids, Peggy Parkins of Bloomfield, NJ and Elizabeth Parkins of Weidman. Three grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.
Margaret taught primarily 5th grade at Rosebush an Fancher Elementary Schools in the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools system from 1967 to 1982 when she retired. She was a member of the CMCH auxiliary, the senior Bridge Club at the Senior Center and CMU Dames and was a former member of Art Reach. She enjoyed collecting antiques.

Lavern E. Mayhew, 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at his home.
Langlois, Sheila Kay
August 21, 1967 - July 11, 2005
Sheila K. Langlois, 37, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2005, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Funeral services for Sheila will be held on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Daniel Siedlecki officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Sheila was born August 21, 1967, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Samuel and Sharon (Decker) Langlois.
Sheila is survived by her son, Jon E. Fetterly of Clare; father, Samuel Langlois; brother, Steven (Ronnie) Langlois both of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents, Beverly Langlois of Mt. Pleasant and Duane and Rose Wolfgang of Lakeview.
Sheila was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Ann Weller and her mother Sharon Langlois.
Sponseller, Lee
August 31, 1922 - July 10, 2005
Lee Sponseller, 82, of Shepherd passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at his home.
Funeral services for Lee will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Wentworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincoln Twp. cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or Central Assembly of God. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Lee was born on August 31, 1922 in Isabella County, the son of Fred and Emma (Knipe) Sponseller. He served as sergeant for the United States Army and received a Purple Heart and Silver Star. Lee married Rose Marie Burch on July 29, 1944 in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He worked as a pipe fitter for the Local 85 from 1952-1984. Lee was a member of the VFW Post, the Moose Lodge for 50 years, the Local 85 for 59 years and Mt. Pleasant Bowling Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golfing on many leagues, bowling, playing cards, baseball and deer hunting.
Lee is survived by his wife, Rosie; children, Dan (Gloria) Sponseller of Mt. Pleasant, Peggy Sponseller (Edmund McGuire) of Mt. Pleasant, Paul “Hulio” Sponseller of Rosebush, Ken (Nancy) Sponseller of Mt. Pleasant, Rick Sponseller of London, Ontario, Suzanne Sponseller of Mt. Pleasant and Patty (Patrick) Zuker of Mt. Pleasant; sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Pat) Burch and two sisters-in-law, Nina Sponseller and Dorothy Sponseller of Shepherd.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Gladys; brothers, Floyd ,Vern, Ross and Fred Sponseller Jr. and sister-in-law, Mary Tilmann.
Fuller, Bernice Ruth
February 9, 1918 - July 10, 2005
Bernice R. Fuller, 87, of Mt. Pleasant went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Memorial services for Bernice will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Zollman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the church and Clark Funeral Chapel.
Bernice was born on February 9, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William and Clara (Gegere) Bargert. Bernice married Edwin Fuller on June 15, 1946 in Monroe. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. Bernice was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Senior Citizens Group and Food with Friends. She dearly loved her dog Fluffy.
Bernice is survived by her children, Suzanne C. (Kenneth) Smith of Canton and Gary (Donna) Fuller of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Edwin on June 23, 2005; parents; step father and six brothers and sisters.
McDonald, Millicent B
February 26, 1924 - July 8, 2005
Millicent B. McDonald, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 8, 2005, at Holy Spirit Hospital Northside in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
A Memorial service for Millicent will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 320 South Bradley, Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Tom Zollman officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millicent B. McDonald Nursing Scholarship, Advancement Division, St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave., Northfield, MN 55057. Envelopes will be available at the church and Clark Funeral Chapel. The church will collect all donations and then send them to St. Olaf College.
Millicent was born February 26, 1924, in Troy, NY the daughter of George and Agnes (Paulsen) Bohrer. She married James Tarleton McDonald II on April 9, 1949 in Austin, TX. Millicent worked as a Registered Nurse for 55 years, retiring in 2000. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. Millicent was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mt. Pleasant and the Tuesday morning women’s bible study group.
Millicent is survived by her son, James (Jamie) McDonald III of Mt. Pleasant.
Millicent was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; two brothers and one sister.
Baird, Mary F.
December 10, 1936 - July 8, 2005
Mary F. Baird, 68, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Muskegon at a later date.
Mary was born on December 10, 1936 in Muskegon, MI the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Buchwald) Gerhardstein. She married James Baird. Mary was a member of the Church of Christ. She collected teddy bears and dolls and enjoyed writing to her friends and relatives.
Mary is survived by her husband, James; brothers, John Gerhardstein of Muskegon and Joseph Gerhardstein of Ohio and sister, Helen (Dick) Anderson of Muskegon.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Myron J. Maybee, 78, of Farwell, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.

Myron was born December 23, 1926, in Isabella County, the son of Maitland and Esther (Foster) Maybee. He married Joyce Myers on September 13, 1948 in Butler, Ohio. Myron was a truck mechanic for Lease Management retiring in 1989. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Clare Eagles Lodge 3977.
Myron is survived by his wife Joyce of 56 years, son, Michael James Maybee of Farwell; daughter, Patricia JoAnn (Larry) Perro of Dearborn; four grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Keaton and Spencer Perro all of Dearborn; brother, Durwood (Josie) Maybee of Seminole, OK; sister, Donna Jean (Victor) Howell of Barryton.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Virgil Maybee.

Pauline “Polly” W. Martin, 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Funeral services for Polly will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 3 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Obrecht officiating. Interment will follow in the Two Rivers cemetery. Polly was born on December 19, 1919 in Pontiac, the daughter of Eddie and Lillian (Beachman) Martin. She married Carl Daniel Martin. He preceded her in death. Polly worked for the United States Post office and volunteered for Red Cross and a nursing home for 3 years. She loved everything outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, her pets, reading, crosswords, knitting, crochet, dancing and the West. Polly was a fun, loving person
Polly is survived by her children, Delores Maize of Mt. Pleasant, Sharon (Tom) Metcalf of Mt. Morris, Spencer “Butch” Ely of Burton, Robert E. Nelson of New Mexico and Joanne (Eldon) McMullin of Clio; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
