Steven A. Holtz, age 54, of Kentwood, passed away at home on Saturday, February 27, 2016 following a short and brave battle with cancer. He was born August 21, 1961 in Grand Rapids, MI but moved to the Kentwood area during his childhood. Steve graduated from Kelloggsville High School in 1980 and welcomed his first of four beautiful daughters during the summer of 1983. Steve was the most amazing father to his four girls. He spent his summers taking them camping in Baldwin, swimming in Lake Michigan and lighting fireworks off on the Fourth of July. Steve had a deep love of music. He played the bass guitar and introduced his daughters to Pink Floyd and other great classic rock music. It's only fitting to send our dad to Heaven with this: "Long you'll live and high you'll fly, and smiles you'll give, and tears you'll cry and all you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be." - Pink Floyd "Breathe". Steven was preceded in death by his father, Richard Holtz, grandparents, Herbert and Mildred Holtz, Clifford and Bertha Perrin. Left to celebrate his life: mother, Etheldra (Perrin) Holtz, brother, Timothy Holtz, sister, Kate Lyon, half-brother, John Holtz. His legacy will live on through his four daughters: Stephanie Johnson (Mike and three sons, Chase, Aiden and Evan), Valerie Wedler (husband Jeff), Rachel Holtz (two sons, Ian and Cameron), and Jessica Holtz (husband Kyle Baker). Steve leaves behind five grandsons, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. Special thanks from our family to Steve's cousin Penny Bloom who comforted his daughters and mother during his brave battle. Family will greet relatives and friends at Stroo Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1 from 12 - 2 pm followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. Steve will be cremated following his celebration of life.
