John D. Wiechenthal, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 21, 2017. John was born in Kincardin, Ontario. He worked for Ionia County Central Dispatch and as a DJ for B-93. John will be deeply missed by his wife, Raneane; his daughter, Madison Wiechenthal; step-children, Hailee Risner and Tyler Risner; mother, Sharon (Roy) Sanders; father, Kevin (Karen) Wiechenthal; sister, Tracy (Sean) Kearney; brother, Justin (Jen) Wiechenthal; grandmother, Shirley Wiechenthal; parents-in-law, Ernie and Rytha Poll; brother-in-law, Kevin (Kaitlynn) Poll; many aunts, uncles, five nieces and two nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, from 6 - 8 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 2350 44th St. SW. A memorial service will be held 11 am Friday, January 5, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastor Polly Standley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Wiechenthal Memorial Fund through any Macatawa Bank.

Pauline (Paulie) Terranova, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017 after a long battle with Dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her siblings, Ray Covell, Vera (Peg) Huver, Lyle (Bub) Covell, Shirley Perry, and Betty Hurt. Paulie was an avid gardener and amateur artist. She enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband and friends, and of course, the monthly pinochle group. She also enjoyed golf and bowling, and in her younger years, ballroom dancing at the Town & County dance club. Paulie was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was a sweet person with a strong faith and a big heart who always had a smile on her face. She is survived by her son, James and Gale Terranova; two grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher; many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Crystal Springs and Spectrum Health Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to her these past few years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 12 - 1 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the service will begin at 1 pm. Pastor Dennis Gilbert will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Hospice.
Margaret "Marg" Wolfert

Margaret Wolfert, aged 95, of Grandville, MI, went to be with her Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2017. Margaret was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother ("Grandma the Great"). Shopping, golfing and spending time with her family were some of her favorite pastimes. Her husband of 67 years, George; son, Gary; her brother and sister preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pat (Greg) Ensink; daughter-in-law, Mary Wolfert; grandchildren, Susan Wolfert (Andy Sundberg), Lisa (Ben) Scheid, Brian (Thelma) Ensink, Jason (Gretchen) Ensink; six precious great grandchildren, Sadie, Claire, Silas, Keira, Simeon and Hudson; and many nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration will be held later in the spring.

Jeffrey Glen Holliman, age 45, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Christmas day, December 25, 2017. Jeff was a caring and loving person. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alicia Holliman. A loving father, grandfather, son and brother, he will be deeply missed by his mother, Norma (Dale) Severns, his children, Lindsay and Cory Holliman; three grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Rodney (Kim Sanders) Holliman, Jody Holliman, Charles (Melissa) Spears, Jennifer Stiles; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2 to 4 pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Madison Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 5757 Madison Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49548. Lila Mae Stinson, age 78, of Grand Rapids, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Lila worked for Lear Siegler for many years. She loved birds and animals, and enjoyed all natural scenery. Her parents, five brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Lila will be lovingly remembered by her sister and brother, Doris Johnson, Keith (Poly) Stinson; and sister-in-law, Eve Stinson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, best friend, Marty; many other close friends; and caregivers, Jan, DeeDee, Krista, Vicki, and Lisa. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 12 - 1 pm at Grand Rapids First, 2100 44th St. SW, where the service will begin at 1 pm. Pastor Larry French will officiate.

Fred E. Plichta, age 68, a resident of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017. A highly decorated veteran of the United States Army, Fred honorably served his country in a time of great need. He was the recipient of many medals, badges, and commendations, including the Purple Heart. Honoring Fred's wishes, there will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Stroo Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.

Leslie James Kooienga, age 84, of Hudsonville, entered his heavenly home on Thursday afternoon, December 28, 2017. Les enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing, and playing guitar and singing by the campfire. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Kooienga, Willis Kooienga; sister, Margorie Kamps; sister-in-law, Delores "Dot" Kooienga; and brother-in-law, Jack Zwart. Les will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Doris Kooienga; children, Norm and Deb Kamer, Dan and Deb Kooienga, David and Felicia Kooienga, Diane Smith and Dawn Duimstra; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Kooienga, Ron and Darla Kooienga; sister, Janice Luke; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Kooienga, Marilyn Zwart; brother-in-law, Bob and Dee Decker; many nieces and nephews. Grace (Pluger) Warsen, age 97, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Pluger, her second husband, John Warsen; son-in-law, Lloyd Brink; and great grandson, Carter Brink. Grace will be lovingly remembered by her children, Barbara (Thomas) Park, Jean Brink, John (Susan) Pluger, Ken (Julie) Pluger, Henry (Cheryl) Pluger; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; her step-children, Donna (Ken) Van Iddeking; Lee Warsen, David (Mary) Warsen, Ila (Tom) Wilson; ten step-grandchildren; and 23 step-great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Trillium Woods for the excellent care given to Grace. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 31, from 4 - 7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. Betty G. Heath, age 92, of Byron Center, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Betty was an LPN and worked in the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her son, Allyn Heath. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Katherine Meinke, Elizabeth (Rick Boonstra) Heath, Joanne Heath; her grandchildren, Anna Danielle Gleason, Amelia (Brad Emmons) Heath, Ross Heath-Boonstra; great grandchildren, Aurora Dorn, Andrew Emmons, Alexander Gleason; brothers, William Howard, Clinton Howard; sisters, Almeda Holtz, Marianne Stokes, and family in Rehoboth.
