Ramsower, Doris M.
December 31, 1919 - February 28, 2004
Doris M. Ramsower, 84, of Mt. Pleasant died on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at her home. A memorial service for Doris will be held on Saturday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, with lay Pastor Ron Thompson residing. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging of Mt. Pleasant or to the charity of your choice.
Doris was born December 31, 1919, the daughter of Theodore and Ethel (White) Swain in Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Dearborn High School. She married Harry C. Ramsower on August 25, 1940. They experienced many work related transfers in their early years of marriage and eventually resided for several years in Caro, Michigan, where she and Harry owned a men’s clothing store. Doris was always active in the Methodist church wherever she lived and was a church secretary for several years in Caro. Doris and Harry retired to Greenbush, Michigan in 1975. Doris moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1995 to be close to her children. She loved the home that was remodeled and designed just for her needs by her son and family. She was active in the Mary Martha Circle at the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed frequent visits with her family and great-grandchildren. She loved china painting and will be remembered by many friends and family for years to come by the wonderful painted pieces she has done them.
Doris is survived by her children, Sheila A. Spacht, Gary L. (Judy) Ramsower of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Marian (Harold) Galdes of Roscommon; Brother, Les (Shirley) Swain of Traverse City; grandchildren, Beth (Bud) Sinclair, Greg (Lena) Spacht, Tamara (Daniel) Johnston, Trisa (Shawn) Thrush; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Taylor Thrush, Lance Johnston; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in October of 1984; her parents; brother, Lee and Ernest Swain and son-in-law, Clyde Spacht.
Interment will be in Pinecrest cemetery in Oscoda later in the spring.
Ream, Twylah Viola

Twylah Viola Ream, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2004, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
Funeral Services for Twylah will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Fulkerson officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 1, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging or Donor’s Choice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Twylah was born March 31, 1913, in Mesick, Michigan, the daughter of Theodore and Stella (Hulbert) Housler. She was a graduate from high school and attended the Jackson Business School. She married Leo Edwin Ream on August 22, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant. Twylah was employed by West Intermediate for 20 years before retiring in 1976. She was a member of TOPPS and the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
Twylah is survived by her children, Roxie (Milton) Fox and Nancy (John) Stanwick both of Mt. Pleasant; Grandchildren, Renee (Hamish) Carpenter, Raqel (Rakesh) Carpenter, Rhonda (Joseph) Simpson, Paul Stanwick and Todd Stanwick; Great-Grandchildren, Isabella Simpson and Gabriella Simpson and one sister, Agnes Pettengill of Mesick, MI.
Twylah was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, brothers, Earl and Wayl and sisters, Aylis, Theda and Birdie.
Fausett, Rachel L.
September 9, 1907 - February 27, 2004
Rachel L. Fausett, 96, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2004, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
A Memorial Service for Rachel will be held on Saturday, March 6 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Merritt Bongard officiating. There will be visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Rachel was born on September 9, 1907 in Marion Twp., Michigan, the daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth (Spates) Brooks. She graduated from Shepherd High School in 1926. Rachel married Clarence B. Fausett on March 26, 1927. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. Rachel enjoyed gardening flowers and crocheting.
Rachel is survived by her children, Donald (Diane) Fausett of Florida, Doris (Ivan) Ettinger of Mt. Pleasant and Russell (Shirley) Fausett of Remus; Fourteen Grandchildren; Thirty-One Great-Grandchildren and Four Great-Great grandchildren.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Crawford, Elmer R.
February 16, 1921 - February 25, 2004
Elmer R. Crawford, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at his home.
Funeral Services for Elmer will be held on Monday, March 1, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ivan Odor officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, February 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Elmer was born February 16, 1921, in Watsondale, PA, the son of Hamilton Jacob and Leah Myrtle (Heavner) Crawford. He married Nellie Ruthruff on September 16, 1955 in Oakland, Maryland. Elmer was a mechanic for Smale Chevrolet and M&M Chevrolet before retiring in 1983 after many years of service. He was a member of the First Church if Christ. Elmer enjoyed coaching little league and was a “Tiger Fan.” He loved all of his grandchildren and his dogs.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Nellie of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Donna Bolin and Mary Shinkle both of Mt. Pleasant; Five grandchildren; Eleven Great-Grandchildren; One sister, Ida Whiteman of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Ted Crawford, Arnold Crawford, Mary Crawford, Mina VanSickle, Leahbelle Montague and Nellie Courter.
Wilson, David E.
October 7, 1945 - February 24, 2004
David Edward Wilson, 58, of Lake Isabella, passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at his home.
Funeral Services for David will be held on Friday, February 27, at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with The Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating.
The family will receive friends on today, February 26, from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, February 27, from noon until the time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
David was born October 7, 1945, in Detroit, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Berkhart) Wilson. After high school graduation, David joined the United States Marines during the Vietnam War where he became victim of Agent Orange. He was employed by Long & Wetzel for 30 years. David married Nancy McNaughton on June 26, 1993 in Weidman. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed watersports, videos and computers. David loved his family, grandchildren and his very special dogs, Becca and Bella.
David is survived by his wife, Nancy of Lake Isabella; children, Cindy (Bill) Powell of Lake Isabella, Tana Bowers of Lake Isabella, Sharon (Nick) Alfano of Lansing, Heather and Jennifer Frees both of New Jersey; grandchildren, Rachel, Kyle, Elizabeth, Nickie and Riley.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
Harless, Harold "Geno"
December 1, 1926 - February 23, 2004
Harold “Geno” E. Harless, 77, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2004, at his home.
Funeral Services for Geno will be held on Thursday, February 26, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Shelly LaMew and Chuck Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside cemetery.

Geno was born December 1, 1926, in Charleston, WV, the son of Harold and Mable (McKinney) Harless. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1944. Geno served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed by Nelson Trucking, McClure Trucking, Bay City Ship Building, Iron Workers Union and General Motors Fisher Body where he retired after 28 years of work. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW Post, American Legion and Clare Eagles Club.
Geno is survived by his children, Randy (Deb) Harless of Rosebush, Christi Reed of Kalkaska, Darell (Chris) Harless of Ithaca, Cindy (David) Young of Mt. Pleasant, Mike Harless of Merrill, Sandy (Marvin) Kendall of Shepherd and Harold “Ed” (Janet) Harless of Merrill; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers, Danny (Phyllis) Harless of Mt. Pleasant and Wayne Harless of Las Vegas, NV;one sister, Marian (John) Groten of Barrien Springs, MI; best friend he ever had, Mike Zymunt of Mt. Pleasant and former wife, Donna Harless of Merrill.
Geno was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sisters, Norma, Jack, Lowell and Jesse “Guff” Harless.
Wilson, Helen Margaret
November 16, 1907 - February 22, 2004
Helen M. Wilson, 96, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2004, at Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 6 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
Helen was born on November 16, 1907, in Rogers City, Michigan, the daughter of August and Anna Marie (Flourschutz) Haneckow. She was married to Stanley Wilson who preceded her in death in 1987. Helen owned and operated Helen’s Beauty Shop in Mt. Pleasant. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge and was active in several churches. Helen’s mother was born in Berlin, Germany and was very proud of her German heritage. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and her family.
Helen is survived by her son-in-law, Freman Fraley and daughter-in-law Gloria Kortman both of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Alfred Haneckow of Rogers City; and three generations of grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Pearl Fraley and son, Ivan Kortman.
Van Buskirk, Florence Lucille
September 25, 1923 - February 19, 2004
Florence L. Van Buskirk, 80, of Rosebush, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2004, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
Funeral Services for Florence will be held on Monday, February 23, at 2 p.m. from Rosebush Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mary Anne Evans-Justin officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland cemetery in Rosebush.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, February 22, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Florence was born September 25, 1923, in Rosebush, the daughter of George and Grace (Wiley) House. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1941. Florence married Jerry Van Buskirk on August 7, 1948 in Rosebush. She was employed by the United States Postal Service, working as postmaster. Florence enjoyed cooking, playing games, puzzles, crosswords, her pet dog, Rosie and gardening, especially roses.
Florence is survived by two sons, David and Duane Van Buskirk of Rosebush; one sister, Elma Stanway of Wadsworth, OH and one niece, Linda Maton.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry and nephew, Edward Stanway.
Sykes, Eleanor "Elenora" O.

Eleanor Sykes, 73, of Saginaw, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Laurels Nursing
Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Elnora will be held on Monday, February 23, at 11 a.m. from Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, 810 Cathay St. with The Rev. Thomas J. London officiating. Interment will follow in the Forestlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 23 from 10 until time of service at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
Elnora was born May 30, 1930, in Longview, Texas the daughter of William and Carra (Diles) Wesley. Elnora married William Richard Sykes who preceded her in death. She worked as a cook in the restaurant industry. She was involved with the Campfire Girls and the P.T.A.
Elnora is survived by her children, William R. (Marguerite) Sykes Jr. of Linden, MI; Denise Mitchall of Saginaw, MI; Anthony (Evelyn) Sykes of California; and Chester E. (Valerie) Sykes of Shandler, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
Uphold, Carlene Louise
July 9, 1969 - February 16, 2004
Carlene Louise Uphold, 34, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 16, 2004.
Funeral Services for Carlene will be held on Thursday, February 19, at 11 a.m. from Prospect Park Church of God with Pastor Richard Bartlett officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 17 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 18, from 4-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Carlene was born on July 9, 1969, in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and B. Louise (Gill) Uphold. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1987 and attended MidMichigan Community College. She was active with Isabella County March of Dimes Poster Child, Isabella County Disability Advisory Commission, receiving the “Productive Citizen Award”, Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards Continuing Education Program for Central Michigan Hospital, graduate of Michigan Partners in Policymaking, volunteer with Isabella County Volunteer Center, member of Campers and Staff at Camp Roy-El in Traverse City.
She received Wal-Mart’s Outstanding Citizen of the Month in 1996, Recognition of Excellent Performance with Mt. Pleasant Area Vocational Student in 1987 and Recognition for Outstanding Accomplishment Foundation for Exceptional Children. She also enjoyed the internet, computers, cross-stitching, traveling and reading.
Carlene is survived by her mother, Louise Uphold of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Lee (Esther) Uphold and Russell (Robin) Uphold both of Mt. Pleasant; grandmother, Janis Gill Nolen and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carlene was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lee Uphold, Sr. in 1999; Grandfather, John Leonard Uphold in 1961; Grandfather, C. Berl Gill in 1987 and Grandmother, Helen B. Uphold-Horvath in 1997.
Ryzenga, Esther L.
April 15, 1920 - February 15, 2004
Esther L. Ryzenga, 83, of Morley, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2004, at Margaret Meadows Nursing Home.

Esther was born April 15, 1920, in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of John Henry and Mary Mae (Fluger) Ryzenga. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Education. Esther was a Home Education teacher for Morley-Stanwood for 30 years before retiring in 1986. Esther was active in Girls Scouts, she taught Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the FHA chapter at Morley-Stanwood. She enjoyed all crafts, sewing, quilting, cross stitching, organic gardening and working as a seamstress before she got her degree.
Esther is survived by her brother Raymond B. (Elizabeth) Ryzenga of Midland; sister Ellen E. (Levi John) Hall of Wellston, MI; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, John Hall.
