HARRY L. JOHNSON
Harry L. Johnson, 74, a life long resident of Clifford, passed away Monday, May 24, 2004 at his home.
He was born on December 24, 1929 in Marlette, son of the late Claude and Mabel (Robinson) Johnson.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1949.
He married
Helen L. Schwerin on July 24, 1954 in Lexington, Michigan. She preceded him in death on January 1, 1994.
He worked for General Motors Truck and Bus in Pontiac for 24 years until his retirement in 1988.
He and his wife also owned and operated the Johnson Foster Care Home for 30 years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He is survived by five sons, Stanley Tallieu of Clifford, Joseph (Gloria) Tallieu of Coleman, Jerry (Lois) Tallieu of Luzerne, David (Dorothy) Johnson of Howell and Dick (Theresa) Johnson of Lupton; three daughters, Betty (Tom) Cloutier of North Branch, Venetta Goss of Columbiaville and Shelia Davis of Marlette; four brothers, Jack (Wanda) Johnson of Marlette, William Johnson of Belding, Norman (Linda) Johnson of Fostoria and Marvin (Bertha) Johnson of Lapeer; a sister, Shirley Woern of Mayville; 27 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, a son, Louis; grandchildren, Mark, Julieann, Stanley Grant and Timothy; a sister, Betty New and a brother, Daniel.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette with Rev. Eric Kilmer officiating. Interment as at the Marlette cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church or the United Hospice Service.

DOROTHY MAE KNOPF
Dorothy Mae Knopf, 76, of Marlette, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004 at her home after a long illness.
She had lived in Marlette for 45 years and was previously from the Lansing area.
She was born on July 5, 1927 in Lansing, daughter to the late Charles and Eugenia (VanSyckel) Delamarter.
She graduated from Okemos High School in 1945 and went on to Michigan State University where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees.
She married
Stanley Knopf on June 27, 1959 in Okemos Community Church.
She taught elementary school for 10 years. She co-founded and taught at the Marlette Pre-School Center for 21 years.
She was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church and a believer in Jesus Christ as Savior.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley; daughters, Barbara (Randy) Kinnick of Rochester, MN., Brenda (Steve) Nesbitt of Lansing, Nancy (Dave) Mattson of Eaton Rapids and Kathleen (John) Simpson of Grand Rapids; a son, Dave (Beth) Knopf of Fargo, N.D.; a brother, Gordon (Roberta) Delamarter of Ionia; a sister, Barbara (Bob) Ward of Ft. Wayne, IN. and 21 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Marlette United Methodist Church with Pastor Daniel Bowman officiating. Interment was at the Leek cemetery in Mason, MI.
Donations may be given to the Marlette Pre-School, United Hospice or Sanilac Gideon’s.

HAROLD E. PATTERSON
Harold E. Patterson, 86, of Marlette passed away March 15, 2004 at the Marlette Community Hospital United Hospice Residence.
He was born in Washington, Michigan on November 21, 1917, the son of the late Clare and Clara (Crowe) Patterson.
He married
Lucile A. Marquart on June 5, 1943 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1989.
He was a farmer in Washington, Michigan until 1955 when he and his family moved to a farm east of Marlette. He retired from farming in 1977 when he sold the farm and moved into the City of Marlette. He then worked at Geer Company for several years.
Survivors include a son, Paul and Dorothy Patterson of Frankfort, MI.; a daughter, Patricia and Frank Gnandt of Owosso, MI.; three grandchildren, Kathleen and Leonard Sisilli, Thomas Patterson and Tricia and Matthew McLaren and one great grandson, Tyler McLaren; a brother, Ralph and Margaret Patterson of Robbins, TN.; a sister, Lucille Hagaman of Washington, MI.; several nieces and nephews and a special friend Antoinette Drzewiecki of Marlette.
Memorials are suggested for the Marlette Second Presbyterian Church or the Marlette United Hospice Residence.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Interment was in Marlette cemetery.
EVA P. JOHNSTON
Eva P. Johnston, 91, of Yale, formerly of Marlette, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004 at Medilodge of Yale in Yale, Michigan.
She was born on December 5, 1912 in Detroit, MI. the daughter of the late James and Maud (Pratt) Feick.
She married
Stuart Johnston in 1959 in Pontiac, MI. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1990.
She lived in Marlette since 1996, coming from Houghton Lake, MI.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Joan Miller of Pigeon, MI. and Gerald and Marie Miller of Avoca, MI.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill, and a sister, Hazel Tyler.
Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor Wm. H. Morrison officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the organization of the donor’s choice.
HAROLD W. HARBAR
Harold W. Harbar, 66, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004 at University Community Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He had lived in the Marlette area for 32 years and was previously from Dryden.
He was born on March 22, 1937 in Dryden, the son of the late Edward and Hazel (Wentworth) Harbar.
He graduated from Dryden High School in 1955.
He married
Janet Duckett on March 23, 1957 in Dryden.
He worked for Champion Homes prior to moving to Marlette in 1969 where he became a State Farm Insurance agent for 32 years until his retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church and the Marlette Lions Club.
He served on the Marlette Community Hospital Board for 25 years and also served on the Marlette Village Council for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; a daughter, Karla and Michael Dennis of Plainwell, MI.; grandchildren, Megan and Mitchell Dennis of Plainwell, MI.; and a brother, Hazen and Deanna Harbar of Dryden.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marlette First United Methodist Church with Pastor Daniel Bowman officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery in Dryden.
Visitation will continue at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be given to the Marlette First United Methodist Church, the Marlette Community Hospital or the Leader Dog for the Blind.

WILSON REID WILCOX
Wilson R. Wilcox, 86, a life long resident and farmer of Marlette, passed away Monday, March 8, 2004 at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1917 in Burnside Township, son of the late Clarence and Jennie (Kyes) Wilcox.
He married
Elaine Poquette on December 24, 1942 in Imlay City, Michigan.
He was of the non-denominational faith.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all, he loved his wife and five sons.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elaine; five sons, W. Harold and Rose Ann Wilcox of Marlette, Donald and Frances Wilcox of Marlette, Ronald and Becky Wilcox of Marlette, Gerald and Jerry Wilcox of Cadillac, MI. and Marvin and Mary Wilcox of Clifford; three brothers, Graham and Lena Wilcox of Big Bay, MI., Forest and Nancy Wilcox of Brown City, MI. and Bill and Marie Wilcox of Brown City; four sisters, Iva Dempsey of Oxford, MI., Ariel and Dan Thom of Brown City, Wilma and L.J. North of Imlay City, MI. and Ruth Bowers of Brown City; 22 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allison and Reid Wilcox; and a sister, Lisa North.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 12, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Lecil Sullivan and Darrin Briggs officiating. Interment was in the Burnside Township cemetery.
Casketbearers included Gary, Matthew, Sam and Stan Wilcox, and Kurt and Kyle Thom. Honorary casketbearers were Bob Prusinski, Brian Wilcox and Mike Herron.
Memorials may be made to the United Hospice Service.
