NORMA JEAN CAMPBELL
Norma Jean Campbell, 82, of Marlette, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2005 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw.
She was born on October 26, 1922 in Brown City, Michigan the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Sitter) Bennett.
She was a lifelong area resident, attended Brown City Schools and Omard United Methodist Church.
She married
Donald Campbell on February 14, 1942 in Marlette Township. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
She worked on the farm with her husband, at Imlay City Seat Belt for six years and at Quality House in Marlette.
She was a life member of the Washington Chapter of the Eastern Stars.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; two sons, William and Beverly Campbell of St. Johns, MI. and Duane and Patricia Campbell of Midland, MI.; two daughters, Carol and Dave McAllister of Oxford, MI. and Kay Nicol of Davison, MI.; a sister, Joyce and Eugene McPhail of Brown City; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Bennett Shephard.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Dianne VanMarter officiating. Interment was at Omard cemetery in Brown City.
Casketbearers included Curtis McAllister, Craig McAllister, Kevin Campbell, Jonathan Nicol, John Campbell, Donald J. Cramer and Chad Wells.
Memorials may be made to the Omard United Methodist Church.

CARL E. HURD
Carl E. Hurd, 73, of Warren, Michigan, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2005 at St. John's Hospital.
He had lived in Warren for 35 years.
He was born on June 14, 1931 in Elmer, Michigan son to the late Ross and Lucille (Dennis) Hurd.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he became a disabled veteran.
He married
Helen Northey on August 16, 1952 in Marlette.
He was a member of the D.W.O. Church in Redford, Michigan.
He was a man of God and dedicated to his church and family.
He is survived by his wife Helen Hurd of Warren; four sons, Paul Hurd of Muskegon, MI., Timothy Hurd of Jackson, MI., Jamin Hurd of Warren and John Hurd of Warren; a daughter, Deborah and William Serra of Shelby Township, MI.; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Joseph and Michael Hurd; daughter-in-law, Ellen Hurd; grandchildren, Joshua and Kayla Hurd; brothers, Bill and Richard Hurd and a sister, Jeanne Kulis.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor Art Ledlie officiating. Interment will be in Marlette cemetery.
Memorials may be donated to the family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home in Warren and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.

THOMAS JAMES ENSIGN
Thomas James Ensign passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 19, 2004 at his home in Phoenix, at the age of 54 years.
He was born May 29, 1950 in Caro, the son of Lee F. and Theda E. (Smith) Ensign.
He graduated from Marlette High School in the class of 1968, went on to Michigan State University, and later graduated from San Jose State University in California.
He has been employed by Motorola Corporation doing computer work related to satellite communication.
Surviving are his parents, Lee and Theda Ensign of Caro; brother, Lee R. (Barbara) Ensign of Caro; two nephews, one nieces, one grand-nephew, three aunts and once uncle.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro, with Rev. Keith Mead of the Peoples Baptist Church in Columbiaville officiating.
Burial followed in the Indianfields Twp. cemetery in Caro.

ARLENE S. HILLAKER
Arlene S. Hillaker, 55, of Snover, Michigan passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at Covenant-Cooper Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. She had been a resident of Sanilac County for 13 years.
She was born on March 4, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter to the late Ronnie and Virginia (Moore) Halderman.
She married
Fred Hillaker on October 2, 1996 in Sandusky, Michigan.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; brothers, Mark (Doreen) Halderman of Florida and Fred (Sheri) Halderman of Croswell, MI.; sisters, Wanda (Bill) Burt of Sandusky, Carol (Dave) Dupont of Almont, MI. Barb (Earl) Christensen of Brown City, MI., Darlene (Dave) Wilson of Marlette and Ann (Harry) Herndon on Allenton, MI.; 36 nieces and nephews, 53 great nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and great nephews Bill and Robert.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Rev. Kenneth R.M. Norcross of the Sandusky Church of God officiating. Interment was at Marlette cemetery.
Memorials may be donated to the family.
Casketbearers included Bill Halderman, Jeff Dufraine, David Christensen, Mark Christensen, Billy Dufraine and Lee Holcomb.
JEANNETTE ELIZABETH MAHAFFY
Jeannette Elizabeth Mahaffy, 83, of Bloomfield Hills, formerly of Marlette, passed away Friday, October 1, 2004 at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.
She was born on July 28, 1921 in Brown City, Michigan, the daughter of the late Hugh and Isabella (Chalmers) Barber.
She was a 1930 graduate of Brown City High School.
She married
Ivan W. Mahaffy on September 20, 1942 in Marlette. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1972.
She lived and farmed in the Marlette area with her husband until moving to Bloomfield Hills in 1966.
Survivors include a son, Carl and Linda Mahaffy of Marlette; a daughter, Paulette and Gary Parrino of Marlette; a brother, Irwin (Bud) and Estelle Barber of Florida; five grandchildren, Shane Mahaffy, Stacie Black, Vincent Parrino, Damon Williams and Sherri Verehella and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Daniel Bowman officiating. Interment was in the Marlette cemetery.
Casketbearers included Shane Mahaffy, Brad Black, Damon Williams, Howard Hicks, Kenny Cook and Steve Dennis.
Memorials may be made to any organization of the donor's choice.
ROBERT (R.J.) CAMPBELL
Robert (R.J.) Campbell, 73, of Marlette, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Covenant-Cooper Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.
He was born on December 14, 1930 in Marlette, the son of the late Chester and Beulah (Boyne) Campbell.
He was a 1948 graduate of Marlette High School.
He married
Elsie Mott on September 29, 1951 at St. Marys Catholic Church, Burnside. He was a lifelong area resident, a member of the Marlette Sports Boosters, a member of the Marlette Sportsman Club, a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, a past member of the Marlette Auxiliary Police, and active in the Marlette Little league program.
He worked for Guerdon Industries, Marlette Homes, Gear Industries and Long's Tri-County Gas.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; three sons, John and Karen Campbell of Marlette, Tom and Lori Campbell of Imlay City and Mike and Alaina Campbell of Lake Orion; two daughters, Christine and Michael Cargill of Marlette and Joanne and Rick Thompson of Marlette; a sister, Barbara Wiegert of Marlette; mother-in-law, Lillian Mott of Marlette; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kiema, and a brother, Lorn.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Fr. Charles Hammond officiating. Interment will be in Marlette cemetery.
Casketbearers include Bryan Wiegert, Eric Campbell, Jake Campbell, Nick Campbell, Andy Heidrich, Gabe Sowa, Matt Campbell and Denny Lester. Memorials may be made to the Marlette Sports Boosters or Marlette Sportsman’s Club.
CHARLOTTE ANN NASH
Charlotte Ann Nash, 52, of Castalia, Ohio, formerly of the Mathews Adult Foster Care Home in Marlette, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2004 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, Ohio following a brief illness.
She was born on January 19, 1952 in Monroe, MI. and was employed at the Growth and Opportunity Workshop in Lapeer, MI. She was a member of the Marlette Baptist Church and attended the Venice Road Baptist Church in Sandusky.
Our “special angel” was a much beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, L. Ruth Nash of Castalia; two sisters, Sandra (John) Cattano of Castalia and Donna (John) Lorcher of Nashvile, TN.; two brothers, Barry (June) Nash of Wakeman, OH. and Jeffrey R. Nash of Castalia; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her extended family in Michigan; Joyce Mathews, Moody, Traci and Nick, Roberta and Samantha, Sally and Joyce Ann and her special family Suzie Cook, Donna, Johanna, Linda and Patty.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Nash; a brother, Garry Nash and a sister, Sharon Nash Everitt.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 9, 2004 at the Ransom Funeral Home, Castalia with the Rev. Billy Hatfield and Rev. John Lorcher officiating. Interment was at the Castalia cemetery.
