ROBERT J. MCCOON
Robert J. McCoon, 78, life long resident of Marlette, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Lapeer Regional Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan.
He was born October 19, 1927 in Fairgrove, Michigan, son to the late James and Edith (Sangster) McCoon.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He married Johanna Crisan on August 24, 1965 in Reno, Nevada.

He was a member of the Marlette Baptist Church.

He worked for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, coaching little league, playing softball and, most of all, he enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna; two sons, Robert and Susan McCoon of Dearborn Heights, MI and James and Beth Tolles of Clio, MI; daughter, Mary and Bill McCue of Loganville, GA; brother, Albert and Naomi McCoon of Marlette, MI; two sisters, Linda Gomez of Marlette, MI and Carol Dalrymple of Flint, MI; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, James and David.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Rev. Keith Meade and Joe Rutherford officiating.

Burial was in the Juhl cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the American Lung Association.

CLIFFORD L. CHISHOLM
Clifford L. Chisholm, 80, life long area resident of Brown City, Flynn Twp., passed away Monday, June 5, 2006 at Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky, Michigan.
He was born March 6, 1926 in Marlette, Michigan, son to the late Elmer and Martha (Strickler) Chisholm.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He married Dorothy Alstead on December 4, 1948 in Sandusky, Michigan.

He was a member of the Sandusky Presbyterian Church and VFW Post #2943 in Brown City.

He farmed all of his life and worked at GM Buick for 30 years until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Michael and Penny Chisholm of Marlette, MI and Clayton and Melodie Chisholm of Brown City, MI; two daughters, Lucy and Robert Mahaffy of Newport Richie, FL and Carol and Scot McCready of Marlette, MI; brother, Russell and Raeola Chisholm of Peck, MI; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mildred, Evelyn and Dorothy and grandson, Devin.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 8, 2006 a 11:00 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev Mark Morningstar from the Sandusky Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial was in the Zion cemetery in Watertown.

Memorials may be donated to the Sandusky Presbyterian Church.

EUGENE L. STOLICKER
Eugene L. Stolicker, 65, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2006 at his home in Marlette. He had lived in Marlette since 1968 and was previously from Deckerville.
He was born on January 27, 1941 in Port Huron, Michigan to the late Lloyd and Margaret (Mark) Stolicker.

He graduated from Deckerville High School in 1959 where he was a past president of Future Farmers of America from 1957 to 1958.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Marlette; brother, Jim and Audrey Stolicker of Deckerville, MI; sister, Audrey and Wayne Ditzel of Millington, MI.; three step-sons; six step-daughters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the memorial of choice.

DORIS M. STEPHENS
Doris M. Stephens (Smith) passed away June 3, 2006 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. She was born in Wyandotte, MI. on February 21, 1923 to Sarah (Scharrer) Smith and Clyde Smith.
She lived in Marlette, MI until she married Wayne Stephens in 1946. He passed away in 1986. She is predeceased by her brother, James (Burt) Smith, and is survived by brothers Clyde (Shad) and Charles; four daughters, Christine Cvar, Columbus, OH; Kathleen Stephens, Mooresville, NC; Sheila McDaniel, Coeur d’Alene, ID; and Laura Chandler; Toledo, OH; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Doris’ name to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID., 83835.

BERNICE E. HEWITT
Bernice E. Hewitt, 89, of Decker, Michigan passed away Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Marlette Extended Care Facility in Marlette. She had lived in the Decker area since 1972 and was previously from Marlette.
She was born on March 22, 1917 in Chicago, ILL., daughter to the late Michael and Sophia (Grabitz) Bencal.

She married Ward R. Hewitt on May 13, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1982.

She enjoyed playing pool, cards, gardening and, most of all, her family.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia of Decker, MI; step son, Richard Hewitt of Tarpon Springs, FL; four grandchildren, Gary and Maria Chard of Calimesa, CA, Brian and Georgia Chard of Decker, MI, Rhonda and Jim Gron of Frankenmuth, MI and Cassie and John Linderman of Rochester Hills, MI; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Josh Powell, Amy and Adam Foote, Doug and Clay Chard, R.J. and Kelly Gron; four great-great grandchildren; brother, Edward and Sue Bencal of California; two sisters, Lillie Wolfe of Snover, MI and Betty Tyrer of Arizona; three sister-in-laws, Helen Hewitt of Ortonville, MI, Florence Hewitt of Marlette, MI and Donna Griffin of Mt. Morris, MI and special friends, Joel Chamblain and Deb Chard of Marlette, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Joe, Harry, Pete and John Bencal, and sister, Mary Howard.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. A graveside service was conducted on Saturday, June 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the Moore Twp. cemetery in Snover, MI.

Memorials may be donated to the United Hospice Service.

ZADA M. BUTLER
Zada M. Butler, 82, of Clifford, passed Tuesday, June 06, 2006 in Dunedin, Florida. She was born July 23, 1923 in Breathitt, Kentucky, the daughter of the late William and Polly (Dennis) Brewer.
She lived in Clifford for the past six years, before that for 10 years. in Lovells, MI., and for 30 years prior to that in Lum, MI.

She married Malcom Butler in 1941 in Lapeer. He passed away on October 16, 1995. She worked for 11 years at the Oakdale Center in Lapeer. She was a very active member of the Good News Assembly of God Church, Marlette, and a 700 Club member.

She is survived by: Dorothy & Gail Nash (daughter) of Clifford, Ronald & Marge Butler (son) of Gladwin, Malcolm G. & Laura Butler (son) of Lum, Linda & Donald Heussner Love (daughter) of Florida, Stephen & Lorie Butler (son) of Clifford, Lori Butler (daughter) of Florida, 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Omer, Dillard, Carth and Emery and sisters, Della, Elma, Emma, Elsa, Ottie, Wanita.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Good News Assembly of God Church, Marlette with Pastor Douglas Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Lovells cemetery in Lovells, MI., Casketbearers were Mark Nash, David Butler, Joshua Butler, Caleb Butler, Jeff Zawada and Nathan VandenBerghe.

Memorial Suggestions to United Hospice, New Frontiers, or Good News Assembly of God Church.

JOHN J. TRYBUS
John J. Trybus, 84, of Clifford, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at his son’s home in Richmond, Texas. He had lived in the Clifford area since 1965 and was previously from Detroit and Rochester, Michigan.
He was born March 8, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Joseph and Helen (Getz) Trybus.

He graduated St. Josephat High School and attended Wayne State University.

He served his county in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II from 1943 to 1946.

He married Betty Kersch on June 29, 1946 in Dubuque, Iowa. She has preceded him in death on November 11, 2000.

He worked in the clothing apparel industry for many years and was a past vice president of Inter Continental Importers.

He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clifford, MI.

He enjoyed traveling, reading, spending winter in Texas and, most of all, his family.

He is survived by five sons, Gregory and Kristine Trybus of Gaylord, MI, Gary Trybus of Dallas, TX, Jack and Connie Trybus of Dallas, TX Alan Trybus of Richmond, TX and Brian Trybus of Dallas, TX; one sister, Joann and Robert Anderson of Lapeer, MI; four grandchildren, Jeff, Jacqueline, Dawn and Andrea and five great grandchildren, Kevin, Kristen, Alexis, Lauren and Roman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Norbert and granddaughter, Jennifer.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clifford, with Fr. Richard Treml officiating. Interment was in the St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the Houston Hospice or the Leukemia Society.
