GEORGE H. AMON IV
George H. Amon IV, 62, of Lima, OH, formerly of Brown City, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born on January 15, 1945 in Yale, Michigan to George and Zola (Coonrod) Amon.

He married Beverly P. Stevens on Dec. 26, 1966 and she survives in Lima. Survivors include three daughters: Joyce (Joe) Renner of Sidney, OH, Kathy (Tim) Sutton of Cridersville, OH, and Debra Amon of Daytona Beach, FL; five grandchildren: Amanda, Ryan, Alisha, Tyler and Joshua and a brother, Ronald (Rose) Amon of Lexington.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Amon in 1977, father, George Amon III in 1999, and mother, Zola Amon in 2003.

He was a member of Cridersville Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Post of both Lima, Ohio and Peck MI. UAW 653 and the Larks Club for radio controlled airplanes in Lima. He graduated from Peck High School in 1964 and DeVry Technical School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and retired from General Motors, Pontiac, MI. after 32 years of service as a Crane Operator. Mr. Amon loved fishing.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, February, 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky with Rev. Paul Castle officiating.

Burial was in the Christian Memorial Cultural Center in Peck.

LETA J. FRIDAY
Leta J. Friday, 87 of Koylton Twp., Kingston, MI. passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. She had lived in Koylton Twp. since 1971 and was previously from Silverwood area.
She was born February 18, 1919 in Silverwood, Michigan, daughter to the late Ross and Greta (Murray) Sarles.

She married Eugene Friday on December 14, 1940 in Mayville, MI.

She was a long time member of the Silverwood United Methodist Church, where she was the Church pianist and organist for many years. She was also a member of the I.O.O.F. Rebecca Lodge 53 and the Silverwood Lady’s Aid.

Mrs. Friday enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, church activities and, most of all, her family.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gene Friday of Kingston, MI., Ken and Betty Friday (son) of Luzerne, MI., Allen and Carol Friday (son) of Mayville, MI., Lila Draper (daughter) of Marlette, MI., Rodney and Brenda Friday (son) of Kingston, MI., Russell and Martha Sarles (brother) of Clifford, MI., Hilton Sarles (brother) of Luzerne, MI., Neil and Alma Sarles (brother) of Silverwood, MI., Larry and May Belle Sarles (brother) of Gladwin, MI., Wilma Hendrick (sister) of Reedsville, PA., 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Arnold and Dean Sarles. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Silverwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in the Rich cemetery in Mayville.

Memorials may be donated to the Silverwood United Methodist Church.

Casketbearers are her grandsons, Chris Friday, Dana Friday, Kyle Friday, Rodney Friday Jr., Ron Draper Jr., Brad Friday and Jeff Schiefer.

Visitation began on Tuesday from at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and continues on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service at the church. Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

EVELYN G. INNES
Evelyn G. Innes, 85, from Roundup, Montana passed away November 5, 2006 at Deaconess Hospital, Billings, Montana.
She was born June 8, 1921 in Pontiac, Michigan to Floyd and Edna (Bunert) Kelly. In 1939, she married Clark Innes of Marlette.

Surviving are her children, Duane Innes of Gregary Michigan and Joyce (Bob) Egeler of Roundup, Montana; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jim (Pat) Innes of Wayne, Michigan; two brothers, Walter Kelly of Harrison, Michigan and Lee (Pat) Kelly of St. Helen, Michigan; brother-in-law, Harold Benner of Attica Michigan; sister, Eileen (Tom) Hebberdt of North Branch, Michigan, three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Innes; her parents, Floyd and Edna Kelly; brother, Lloyd (Bud) Kelly; sister, Elsie Benner and grandson, Duane Innes Jr.

Cremation has taken place by Wier Funeral Home Montana.

A private service is pending at Marlette, Michigan.

ROZELLA E. GILL
Rozella E. Gill, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Tender Care in Cass City, Michigan.
She lived in Cass City and was previously from the Washington and Kingston, Michigan areas.

She was born June 19, 1919 in Central Lake, Michigan, daughter to the late John and Ethel (Bowhall) Simon.

She graduated from Marlette High School in 1938.

She married John Gorsline. He passed away in 1946.

She then married Robert Gill on August 3, 1946 in Brown City, Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2000.

She was a member of the Lamotte Missionary Church.

She is survived by one son, Donald Gill of Kingston, MI; two daughters, Betty and Karl Myer of Mt. Clemens, MI and Diana Betty of West Bloomfield, MI; one sister, Mildred and Eugene Ryckman’ Rathka of St. Clair Shores, MI; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Robert Jr.; baby daughter, Joan; daughter-in-law, Vounda Gill and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Pastor Gerald Steele officiating.

Burial was in the Burnside Twp. cemetery in Brown City.

Memorials may be donated to the Lamotte Missionary Church.

MARGARET ELLEN WILCOX
Margaret E. Wilcox, 81, of Deford, MI. passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro after a long illness.
She was born October 19, 1925 in Silverwood to George and Florence (Berry) Shaver. She married Etsel Daniel Wilcox and together they resided in the Kingston and Deford area for 55 years.

She retired from Cass City Schools where she had worked as the Cafeteria Manager and cook in the Campbell Elementary School for many years. She was a very active member of the Deford Community Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking especially trying out new recipes on her family. The couple enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and motorcycle riding with their families while they were able.

She is survived by her daughter, Etselene (Jim) Dorland of Deford; granddaughter, Shelly (Bill) Chambers of Deford; great grandchildren, Shane Bloomfield and Shania Chambers; step grandchildren, Ryan Dorland and Kyle Dorland; step great grandchildren, Nick (Marcy) Chambers, Heather Chambers and Tammy (Rudy) Schlatter and a step great-great-granddaughter, Samantha Schlatter. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Darold Terbush and siblings, Iva Wilson, Cecil Shaver, Ray Shaver, Willis Shaver, and Frank Shaver.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2006, in the Deford Community Church with Pastor David Mercer officiating. Memorials may be made to Deford Christian Academy. Interment was at the East Dayton cemetery. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www,kranzfuneralhome.com.

JULIUS P. KOPACZ
Julius P. Kopacz, 87, long time resident of Watertown Twp. and Sanilac Co., passed away Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky.
He was born August 19, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan, son to the late Michael and Hattie (Terreschuk) Kopacz.

He was a 1937 graduate of Sandusky High School.

He married Margaret Petrinec on August 21, 1943 in Sandusky. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1995.

He attended Countryside Free Methodist Church in Sandusky and was a member of the Sanilac Farm Bureau.

He farmed most of his life and also worked for Sam Spiegel Construction and Guerdon Industries.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald and Roseann Kopacz of Sandusky, MI. and David and Cynthia Kopacz of Marlette, MI; daughter, Teresa and Terry Smeckert of Allendale, MI; brother, John and Emily Kopacz of Harper Woods, MI.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Thomas Kopacz, and brother, Nick Kopacz.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Countryside Free Methodist Church in Sandusky, with Pastor Paul Castle officiating.

Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery in Sandusky.

Memorials may be donated to the Countryside Free Methodist Church or Sanilac Co. Medical Care Facility Alzheimer’s Unit.

ASTA HELENE SMITH
Asta Helene Smith, 80, of Whittier, California, formerly of Marlette, passed away Friday, October 20, 2006 at home in Whittier, California.
She was born August 13, 1926 in Juhl, Michigan, the daughter of the late Aage and Anna (Raven) Sorensen.

She lived here through high school, graduating in 1944 from Marlette High School.

She married Kenneth T. Smith in 1958. He died in 2003. After graduation, she moved to the Detroit area, returning here in 1977 until 1981, then moved to Florida, New Orleans and finally California.

She was a member of the Hollywood Lutheran Church, California, past member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Juhl, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Allen Park, MI, and the Kiwanis Club.

She is survived by Deborah and Allen Patterson (daughter) of Colorado, Scott Smith (son) of Livonia, Kathy Smith (daughter) of New Mexico, Inger and Jerry Brown (sister) of Marlette, Marie Sorensen (sister) of California, Dagny and Arthur King (sister) of Florida, 4 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenny, and a brother, Daniel.

Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette on Saturday from 1-9 p.m. and on Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church, Juhl from 2-3 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Juhl. With Rev. Joyce Johnston officiating.

Burial will be in the Juhl cemetery in Marlette.

Casketbearers are Ronald Schlaud, Robert Schlaud, Daniel Bays, Preston Kloss, Harold Raven and Garry Brown.

Memorials suggestions to Hope Lutheran Church, or any organization of the donor’s choice.
