EDNA P. HAGER
Edna P. Hager, 81, a life long resident of Marlette, Michigan, passed away Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Marlette Hospice Residence.
She was born March 1, 1926 in Burlington Twp., daughter to the late Harry and Louisa (Wood) Gould.
She graduated from Marlette High School in 1944.
She married
Robert Hager on September 6, 1946 in Marlette.
She was a member of the Caro First Baptist Church in Caro, Michigan.
She enjoyed doing things with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Marlette; four sons, Lowell and Lesley Hager of Mt. Pleasant, MI Dale and Elaine Hager of Marlette, MI, Bryce and Debra Hager of Greenville, SC and Brent and Kimberly Hager of Ellijay, GA; two sisters, Vera Day of Imlay City, MI and Leola Dicks of Marlette, MI; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Stanley, Alton, Leland and Robert and two sisters, Bernice and Eva.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caro First Baptist Church in Caro, Michigan, with Pastor Ronald Wigand and Rev. Bryce Hager officiating.
Burial was in the West Burlington cemetery in Silverwood, Michigan.

LAWRENCE X. AYOTTE
Lawrence X. Ayotte, 88, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Marlette Hospice Residence in Marlette, Michigan.
He was born May 24, 1918 in Zurich Ontario, Canada, son to the late Theophile and Marquerite (Corriveau) Ayotte.
He graduated from high school in Canada and received his associate’s degree from Assumption College in Windsor Ontario, Canada.
He married
Aline Meloche in Canada. She preceded him in death in September of 1988.
He worked many years for the Prudential Life Insurance Company in the Detroit area, until his retirement in 1974.
He enjoyed swimming, golfing, dancing and, most of all, his family.
He is survived by two sons, Lawrence and Maureen Ayotte of Livonia, MI and Robert and Sheri Ayotte of Minneapolis, MN; one daughter, Patricia and Leo Zimba of Marlette, MI; two sisters, Irma Rose of Florida and Doris Williams of Grand Rapids, MI and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Andrzej Boroch officiating.
Burial was in the Holy Sepulcher Catholic cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
Memorials may be donated to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or United Hospice Service.
A Rosary was conducted on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

ROBERT S. MAY, JR.
Robert (Bob) May Jr., 64, of Clifford, MI, passed away Sunday, April 8 at the VA Hospital in Saginaw, MI.
He was born November 29, 1942 to Robert and Berneice (Scott) May in Caro, MI. He graduated from Marlette High School and served his country in the Army.
He is survived by his mother, Berniece May of Deckerville, MI; brothers, Bill May of Rose City, MI and Dan May of Deckerville, MI; sister, Marcia and Marty Blackmer of Akron, MI and one daughter, Michelle May.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert May Sr.
Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, MI.
VICTOR C. LALONDE
Victor C. LaLonde, 74, of Marlette, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center- Cooper in Saginaw.
He had lived in Marlette Township for two years and was previously from West Branch and Flint.
He was born April 23, 1933 in Flint, Michigan, son to the late Victor and Bernice (Faulk) LaLonde.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married
Anoka Hamilton on June 7, 2005 in Sandusky, Michigan.
He worked for Buick in Flint for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Anoka LaLonde of Marlette; five sons; one daughter; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and loving brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at his home in Marlette Township.

JOYCE MAYNARD “JM” BICKEL
Joyce Maynard “JM” Bickel, 85, of Grafton, West Virginia, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at his home.
He was born June 1, 1921 in Replete, WV, a son of the late Bolton Lee and Ila Grace Chipps Bickel. He was united in marriage May 14, 1944 to Wanda Bickel, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons: Douglas Bradford Bickel of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jerald Maynard Bickel and wife, LeAnna of Elkins, WV, and Darrel Ray Bickel of Grafton, WV; one daughter, Julia Robbins and husband, Dr. Donald Robbins of Marlette, Michigan; one brother, Perry Bickel of Perry, Florida; two sisters: Ruth Gibson of Massillon, Ohio and Imogene Louis of Lehigh Acres, Florida; five grandchildren, Jamie Bickel of Buckhannon WV, Heather Bickel of Washington, D.C., Angela Bickel of Mocksville, NC, Donald H. Robbins III and Andrew Robbins, both of Marlette, MI; one great-grandchild, Logan Bickel of Buckhannon, WV.
Preceding him in death were three brothers: Lee Roy “Buddy”, Oval Olden and Oney Elmer Bickel; three sisters: Goldie Myers, Sylvia Myers and Wanda Lee Bickel and one grandson, Steven Douglas Bickel.
He was a lifetime member of the Cleveland United Methodist Church, a member of the Webster County I.O.O.F., and helped form the Drug Council of Randolf County. He enlisted in the 10th Infantry Regiment in Fort Thomas, Kentucky on August 23, 1940 when he was 19 years old. He was an expert rifleman and trained with the Armed Infantry and then served as a radio operator of the 466th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion of the 17th Airborne Division with campaigns in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was in Patton’s 3rd Army that jumped with the Battle of the Bulge on December 16, 1944. On March 24, 1945, his company jumped over the Rhine, nine miles behind the enemy lines and were cut off from the rest of the Army, with only three soldiers from his immediate group surviving. He received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead and the WWII Victory Medal.
He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and served as Attendance Director for Webster County and later Upshur County Schools for several years. Upon his retirement, he worked part-time as a salesman and in the Security Department as WVWC.
Visitation was held on April 30, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon, WV. A military funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the funeral home with Pastor David Jesse officiating. The eulogy was given by his daughter, Julia Robbins. Military graveside services were provided by the VFW WV Post 3663 at the McCutchen Chapel cemetery in Ireland, WV. Memorials may be given to the Rock Cave Baptist Church or the VFW WV Post 3663. HAYDEN CHASE RUCHGY
Hayden Chase Ruchgy, infant son of Tyler Ruchgy and Christine Heifner, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was born April 16, 2007 in Port Huron, Michigan.
He is survived by his parents, Tyler Ruchgy and Christine Heifner of Sandusky; brothers, Zackary Heifner of Sandusky and Alexander Ruchgy of Marlette; sister, Kaitlyn Heifner of Sandusky; grandparents, Larry and Patricia Kolakowski of Sandusky and Joe and Karline Ruchgy of Marlette; several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky with Elder Kevlin Patton officiating.
Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery in Sandusky.

WESLEY BENJAMIN “BEN” BOYL
W. Ben Boyl, 66, of Kingston, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in Marlette Regional Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1940 at home in Kingston to Wesley P. and Jean F. (D’Arcy) Boyl.
He married
Nancy Froede on September 28, 1963 on the family homestead in Caro. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1958 and from Central Michigan University with a degree in Industrial Arts in 1964. He worked as a General Manager for Marlette Homes, Walbro Manufacturing and Active Homes from where he retired after over 14 years of service. Since his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher in the Tuscola County area, a job he truly loved. He served for many years on the Kingston Community School District Board of Education, the last six or seven as president. He was an active member of the Kingston United Methodist Church, serving on many committees over the years. He enjoyed sports and was an avid football fan. He truly loved and enjoyed his family and friends. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Scott (Glenda) Boyl of Kingston, Jeff (Lisa) Boyl of Fishers, IN., and Justin (Alischia) Boyl of Kingston; grandchildren, Zachary, Jenna, Kaleb, Hannah, Wesley, Brennen and his seventh grandchild due in August; mother, Jean F. Boyl of Kingston; special daughter and her family, Deb (Joe) Hart, Ben, Louie, Maria, Addie; sister, NoraJean (Tom) Little of Cass City; brother, Wayne (Karen) Boyl of Otsego; brothers-in-law: William Froede of Kingston and Jim (Sheila) Froede of Deford; sister-in-law, Kay (Cap) Caverly of Kingston and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Wesley P. Boyl.
Funeral service were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 in the Kingston United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Memorials may be made to Kingston High School Scholarship Fund or Kingston United Methodist Church. Interment was in Kingston cemetery.

GERTRUDE J. GRIFFEE
Gertrude J. Griffee, 78, of Carsonville, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center- Cooper in Saginaw.
She had lived the past 20 years in Carsonville and was previously from the Sandusky and Marlette areas.
She was born September 1, 1928 in Bay City, daughter to the late Amos and Mary (Streeter) Preston.
She married
Warren Griffee on December 27, 1945 in Bay City. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1985.
She worked for Snover Stamping Co. for many years and also worked at local area restaurants as a waitress and cook.
She enjoyed cooking, working in her flower garden and, most of all, her family. She is survived by two sons, James Griffee of Carsonville and Mitchell and Lori Griffee of Marlette; three daughters, Debra Rodden and Arthur Romanoff of Lexington, Cindy and Robert Rugenstein of Brown City and Jeannie Zentgrebe of Edwardsburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and daughter, Nancy Jane. Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Countryside Free Methodist Church in Sandusky, with Rev. Paul Castle officiating.
Memorials may be donated to the American Heart Association.
