BERTHA MAI TOLER
Bertha Mai Toler, 88, of Marlette passed away August 7, 2007 in Port Huron.
She was born February 10, 1919 in Palmyra, Tennessee to William and Lizzie Patterson. She married Earl Toler on December 19, 1932 and in 1941 they moved to Michigan where they raised their family of five girls and four boys.

She was a housewife, a mother and had also worked at Great Lakes Rod and Reel Co. for 13 years and RPM in Croswell for 5 years. She also operated a home for elderly for a few years before and then was ten years as a home health care provider.

She is survived by eight children, Claude (Dorothy) Toler, Henry (Karen) Toler, Joe (Sheila) Toler, Rose Cantlin, Omma (Terry) Elenbaun, Mary Kanuk, Kathy (Ron) Blain, Barbara (Scott) Strane, 29 grandchildren and 32 great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by husband, Earl; a baby son, David; five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at 11:00 at the Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peck Assembly of God Church.

CLARENCE E. “PETE” VINING
Clarence E. “Pete” Vining, 71, of Decker, passed away Friday, August 10, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.
He was born November 2, 1935 in Decker, Michigan the son of the late Donavon and Iva (Travis) Vining.

He was a lifelong area resident, and a 1954 graduate of Marlette High School. He married Violet L. Loutzenhiser on November 13, 1971 in Decker.

He worked at Marlette Homes for years, then designed and painted signs and painted cars.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; Linda Vining (daughter) of Fostoria, Edward and Edwina Phetteplace (step-son) of Decker, Charles and Pamela Phetteplace (step-son) of Sandusky, Mary Jane Messing (step-daughter) of Carsonville, Robert Vining (brother) of Port Huron, Ronald Vining (brother) of Port Huron, Dorris Galloway (sister) of Decker, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sons, Matthew and Donavon; a brother, Max and sisters, Mary Ann Donley and Donna Ford.

Cremation was at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial suggestions to any organization of the donor’s personal choice.

PATRICK V. BOYLE SR.
Patrick V. Boyle Sr., 76, of Marlette, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007 at his home in Koylton Twp.
He had lived in Koylton Twp since 1967 and was previously from the Pontiac area. He was born August 11, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan, son to the late Winfield and Mildred (Kelch) Boyl.

He married Waneta J. Denslow on November 5, 1955 in Pontiac. She preceded him in death on November 6, 1997.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked for Consumer Power as a machinist for 30 years.

He is survived by his son, Patrick Boyle Jr. of Clifford; daughter, Mary Wenson of Mason; five grandchildren, Tiffany Boyle of Boise, Idaho, Ryan, Erik, Nathan and Kelsey Wenson of Mason; brother, Andrew (Anne) Boyle of Goodrich and sister, Bertha (Tom) Harvey of Evansdale, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers, William, Leo (Ty), Duane, Winfield and Frank Boyle and three sisters, Jeanette Covington, Evelyn Jones and Marquette Kaswell.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

A memorial service with military honors was conducted Friday, August 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Charles Hammond officiating.

Memorials may be donated to the donation of your choice.

PAULINE (BAZAN) LUNN
Pauline (Bazan) Lunn, 89, long time resident of Marlette, passed away, Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Marlette Hospice Residence.
She was born August 26, 1917 in Detroit, daughter to the late Paul and Joanna (Budna) Faszczewski.

She married Bron S. Bazan on November 8, 1941 in Clifford. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1968.

She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette and also worked 32 years at the Marlette A&P.;

She is survived by her son-in-law, Gary Bower of Clifford; four grandchildren, Timothy Bower of Clifford, Stacey and John Discher of Tecumseh, Michael and Ronda Bower of Marlette and Michelle and Mitchell Schrader of Capac and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Joanna; brothers, Walter and Anthony and sisters, Josephine, Virginia and Frances.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 6, 2007 at 12 noon at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Mieczyslaw Oniskiewicz officiating.

Burial was in the St. Elizabeth cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the United Hospice Service.

A Rosary service was held on Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

RENTON PROCTOR
Renton Proctor, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2007 at Tendercare in Cass City. He was a life long resident of Flynn Twp.
He was born January 15, 1913 in Flynn Twp., son to the late Arthur and Emma (Lee) Proctor.

He graduated from Peck High School in 1931.

He married Alta J. Lee on February 6, 1935 in Sandusky. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2002.

He farmed and also worked at Guerdon Industry’s and Frank’s Motor Homes.

He is survived by two sons, Paul Proctor of Marlette and Robert and Clara Proctor of South Carolina; four daughters, Geraldine Hurley of Brown City, Marian and John Payne of Caro, Emma and Robert Glover of Florida and Barbara Small of Brown City, 1 brother, Gary Proctor of Alma; three sisters, Evelyn Strickler of Sandusky, Verna Potter of Marlette and Christine Redmand of Lapeer. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, sisters, granddaughter Deloris Walker and grandsons, Robert Renton Proctor and Larry Walker.

A private funeral service will be held, Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. Michael Holleneck officiating.

Burial will be in the Watertown cemetery in Watertown.

Memorials may be made to the American Stoke Association.

Visitation is Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.

RONALD JAMES COOPER
Ronald James Cooper, 63, of Marlette, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Saginaw Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.
He was born August 11, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of James and Lunetta (Mahaffy) Cooper.

He was a lifelong area resident and farmer, a 1961 graduate of Marlette High School, and was active in the Seat & Wrench Collectors Club.

He married Shirley Ann Gusta on September 21, 1961 in Brown City, MI.

He is survived by his wife Shirley; his mother, Lunetta Miller; Tamara and Allan Howard Jr. (daughter) of Mass. Robin Marie and Robert Bergman (daughter) of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren, Samuel Howard and Jillian Howard; Robert Gusta (brother-in-law) of Brown City; Nancy and Duane Henn (sister-in-law) of Cass City and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Cooper; an infant son, Anthony James, and an infant brother, Richard.

Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette on Friday from 2-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. with Rev. Douglas Richardson officiating.

Burial will be in the Marlette cemetery in Marlette.

Casketbearers will be Charles Davis, Bill Griswold, Chuck Parker, Mike Chisholm, Kent Clark, Dennis Petersen and Jerry Cooper.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Samuel Howard and Jillian Howard.

JULIA J. JEZIERSKI
Julia J. Jezierski, 74, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
She had lived in Detroit since 2004 and was previously from the Marlette area. She was born May 2, 1933 in Sebewaing, Michigan, daughter to the late John and Antonio (Skura) Twork.

She married Stephen Jezierski on November 11, 1950 in Croswell Michigan.

She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church for many years.

She is survived by her husband ,Stephen; three sons, Thomas and June Jezierski of Grand Haven, MI, Steve Jezierski of Rochester, MI and Frank Jezierski of Rochester, MI; two daughters, Judy and Mike Epstein of Tucson and Patty and Ed Verellen of Traverse, City, MI; two sisters, Wanda and George Chorey of Rose City, MI and Helen Prowski of Tucson, AZ. and seven grandchildren, Thomas, Sandra, Randall, Myra, Julie, Alex, Cassidy and Effen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mike and John and a sister, Mary.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Andrzej Boroch officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Elizabeth Catholic cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10am until the time of services at the Church.
