ROBERT CHARLES WALKER
Robert Charles Walker, 82, of Marlette, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at Marlette Extended Care Facility in Marlette, Michigan.
He was born March 7, 1926 in Marlette, Michigan the son of the late Charles and Jennie (Clark) Walker.

He was a 1943 graduate of Marlette High School.

He married Rosemary Sauder on November 27, 1946 in Marlette.

He was a lifelong area resident, a member of Marlette Second Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder, past member of the Marlette IOOF., the Antique Car Club and a past 4-H Leader.

He was a lifelong area farmer, sold Pioneer Seed Corn and was a member of the MMPA.

He is survived by Cynthia and Lee Wood (daughter) of Shelby Twp.; William and Connie Walker (son) of Marlette; Marcos (Omar) and Jean Bacelis (son) of Ypsilanti; eight grandchildren, Amy Wood, Heather Trombetta, Steven Wood, Sheree Canfield, Charles Walker, William Walker, Linda Bacelis, Cristina Bacelis and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Mark Walker; a brother, Kenneth, and sisters, Marion Brown, Marjorie Calkins, and Marguerite Rice.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor Chris Wolf officiating.

Burial was in the McLeish cemetery in Marlette.

Casketbearers were Steven Wood, Charles Walker, William Walker, Benjamin Trombetta, Roger Duff, Randy Wood.

Memorial suggestions to the Marlette Extended Care Facility.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

ANITA MAE RASMUSSEN ABRAHAMSON
Anita M. (Kester) Rasmussen, 89, passed away at her home in Marlette, MI. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 surrounded by her family.
She was born May 20, 1919, in Croswell, MI., daughter to the late Elmer and Mary Ellen (Thomas) Kester.

She married Holger Rasmussen on May 28, 1938, and they raised three children, Scharla, Rex and Kai Rasmussen. She and Holger were successful business owners of the Marlette Lumber and Concrete Products. Holger passed away on April 29, 1995.

She married Armas Abrahamson on May 25, 1996 in Grand Marais, MI. He passed away on December 17, 2004.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a faithful Christian and member of the First United Methodist Church of Marlette, a member of the Danish Sisterhood and Cub Scout Leader. She was a talented pianist and organist. She took great pride in her home and was a generous and creative hostess.

Besides her husbands, she was predeceased by her grandson, Erik Rasmussen.

She is survived by her children and their spouses - Scharla and John Tapson, Rex and Cheryl Rasmussen, Kai and Rhonda Rasmussen. Her surviving grandchildren include, Marti Rasmussen, Shane (Kelly) Rasmussen, Adrienne (Larry) Tapson-Hart, Heather (John) Swanson, Matthew (Tana) Tapson, Joey (Kevin) Fielder, and Maggie (Robert) Moser. Great-grandchildren include Ella Rasmussen, Sayde Rasmussen, Brandon Hart, Marissa Hart, Meredith Swanson and Zoie Moser.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the United Hospice of Marlette, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

A memorial service may be scheduled at a later date.

EVELYN M. PRATT
Evelyn M. Pratt, 79 of Marlette formerly of Clifford, passed away peacefully Friday, February 13, 2009 at her home in Marlette.
She was born June 19, 1929 in Detroit, daughter to the late Raymond and Stella (Brooks) Mayrand.

She married Archie Powell he preceded her in death 1963, she then married William Pratt. He died 1985.

She was a member of the Clifford Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She also was a long time member of the Marlette V.F.W.

She worked as a cook for Ruth’s Restaurant in Marlette and Beagio’s in Kingston. She is survived by five sons, Virgil Mayrand of Louisiana, Edward (Patricia) Powell of Vassar, Larry (Kelly) Goyea of Britton, MI., James Bates of Dryden and Leonard Powell of New York; three daughters, Violet (Charles) Hodder of Deford, Evelyn Fagan of Marlette and Eleanor (Randall) Dykes of Marlette; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 1 great -great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Mary Warford and brothers Fred and Harold McQuistion.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Pastor Douglas Richardson officiating. Interment was in Novesta cemetery, Cass City.

Memorials may be donated to the family.

LESLIE ANN RATTEW
Leslie Ann Rattew, 49, of Imlay City, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at Port Huron Hospital in Port Huron, Michigan.
She was born May 1, 1959 in Highland Park, Michigan.

She was a lifelong area resident, a Marlette High School graduate and worked for six years at Lear Corporation, Marlette.

She married Steve Rattew on April 3, 2004 in Snover, MI.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; her father, Ernest Hough of Clay Twp.; Joey and Theresa Davis (son) of Marlette; Heather Davis (daughter) of Marlette; Gilbert and Kelly Hough (brother) of Tenn., Linda Hogan (sister) of Tenn., Susan and Michael Etherton (sister) of Macomb, Lorraine and John Hough-Solomon (sister) of Ann Arbor, Kathleen and Michael Rehs (sister) of Eastpointe and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 9, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor Douglas Tindall officiating.

Following services cremation was at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Memorials may be given to any organization of the donor’s choice.

NANCY JO WILSON
Nancy Jo Wilson, 68, of Port Sanilac, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Autumnwood of Deckerville in Deckerville, Michigan.
She was born October 14, 1940 in Coburn, Virginia the daughter of the late Haston and Josie (Bryant) Dingus.

She lived in this area for the past 15 years and was previously from the Saginaw and Caro area.

She is survived Michelle and Dennis Gamet (daughter) of Marlette and Connie Jerore (daughter) of Breckenridge; grandchildren, Marc Gamet, Stephanie Gamet and Steven Jerore and great -grandchildren, Cole Gamet and Isabella Jerore. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory, Bay City.

PETER B. SCHLAUD JR.
Peter B. Schlaud Jr., 71, of Bad Axe, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
He was born on February 16, 1938 in North Branch, Michigan, son of the late Peter and Stella (Young) Schlaud Sr.

He graduated from North Branch High School in 1956. He served in the US Army in Germany as a Military Policeman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, playing cards, and eating at Big Boy. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe.

He worked at Marlette Coach in Marlette after coming home from the Army until the factory closed and he moved to Louisiana where he was the head maintenance man in a hospital. When the hurricane hit in 2005, he lost everything and moved to Bad Axe and lived with his sister and brother-in-law, John and Riga Guigar. Survived by an adopted son, Richard Schlaud of Kingston; foster daughter, Jeanette (Ron) Yaroch of Marlette; sister, Rita (John) Guigar of Bad Axe; brother, Charlie (Sandy) Schlaud of Marlette; sister-in-law, Carol Schlaud of Marlette and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Schlaud.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 11 am. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Fr. Rob Howe, pastor. Interment will be in North Branch. Friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10 am. until the service time at 11 am.

Arrangements by the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe.

ERNESTINE RAE ADAMIC
Ernestine Rae Adamic, 73, of North Branch, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette, Michigan.
She was born February 09, 1936 in Clifford, Michigan, the daughter of the late Harold and Maxine (Wiltse) VanConant.

She was a lifelong area resident and 1954 graduate of Marlette High School. She married Daniel A. Adamic on June 25, 1955 in North Branch.

She worked as a Switch Board Operator in Clifford for General Telephone, Kay Industries, Brown City Banner, North Branch News, Western Auto in North Branch, Wesleyan Academy, and was scorekeeper for North Branch and the Wesleyan Schools sports.

She is survived by her husband Dan, Debbie Coulter (daughter) of Brown City, Danele Adamic (daughter) of North Branch, Daniel and Lori Adamic (son) of North Branch, Dianne Chase (daughter) of North Carolina, Diane and Bill Kunzer (sister) of Wisconsin, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and many "adopted children".

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Fr. Andrzej Boroch officiating. Burial was in the Marlette cemetery in Marlette.

Casketbearers included Danele Adamic, Randy Coulter, Ryan Coulter, Reed Coulter, Anthony Chase, Matthew Chase.

Memorial suggestions to the Marlette Regional Hospital.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.
