Peter David Zelesket
June 13, 1952 -- June 16, 2010
Peter D. Zelesket, age 58, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, June 16 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Peter was born on June 13, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. His mother is Barbara Landon Zelesket of Mt. Pleasant, MI. His father is Peter Zelesket of Mt. Pleasant, MI.
A celebration of Peters life was held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Chuck Swarthout officiating. Interment was in Chippewa Township cemetery. The family will received friends at Helms Funeral Home on Friday, June 18, from 5 to 8 pm.
Peter was a lifetime resident of the area and was employed as a counselor at Central Michigan Mental Health Center. He enjoyed antique shopping, gardening, decorating, stained glass artwork, motorcycle riding, and his circle of close friends.
Peter is survived by his mother, Barbara Landon of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Jonathan Landon of Springboro, OH; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Helen V. Horvath
October 16, 1918 -- June 15, 2010
Helen Valerie Galgoci Horvath, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Helen was born on October 16, 1918 in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of Walter and Rose (Fejes) Galgoci.
Helen was a resident of Mt. Pleasant since 1985, when she moved back from Florida, where she had lived for several years. She was employed for several years at Central Michigan University in the food service department. Helen and her husband also owned and operated the Scotty Restaurant from 1944-1948. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and a Eucharist Minister at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility and the hospital for many years. She was a member of the Red Cross Clown Corp with the clown name Nellie, a member of the Befriender Program, and was honored as Volunteer of the Week with the Morning Sun. She traveled to Hungary, and to Rome, where she saw the Pope. She was a wonderful Hungarian cook, and enjoyed her flowers, especially geraniums, and feeding the birds. Helen was the last of her generation of the Galgoci family.
A celebration of Helens life was held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Chadwick Brown of the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment followed the service in Calvary cemetery. Friends gathered with the family on Friday from 1-2 p.m. Memorial contributions in Helens memory are suggested to the wishes of the family. Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen and William Davis of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Randall Warren and his children, Gage and Kayle; Thadeus and Wendy Warren and their children, Buddy (Laurence) and Joshua; Sadie Lalk and former husband Gregory Lalk and their children, Nathan, Kyal, and Kurtis; and Kara Davis and Tony Schoen and their children, Tyler and Andrew; and also several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Laurence Warren and Andrew Horvath, both parents, four brothers: Steve, Emery, Rudy and Walter Galgoci and four sisters: Elizabeth Galgoci, Margaret Graham, Irma Szabo, and Rose Salchert.
A long time family friend, Amy Medford, was with Helen comforting her while she peacefully passed.

Thomas John Williamson, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services are pending.
Henry I. Seeley
December 18, 1919 -- June 6, 2010
Henry Ira Seeley, age 90, of Shepherd, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Henry was born on December 18, 1919 in Oil City, Michigan, the son of Amos and Mary (Mullins) Seeley. On May 14, 1955, he married
the former Beverly Clare in Isabella County. Beverly preceded Henry in death on October 7, 2002.
As a lifetime resident of the Oil City area, Henry had several different jobs. He worked in the oil fields for Austin Trucking, Daily Crude Oil Company, Robinson Oil, and Long & Wetzel. He also farmed, and was a custodian at Central Michigan University for twenty-three years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting deer and small game, and was known to enjoy his beer, coffee, and cookies.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Connie Bongard officiating. Interment followed the service in Kelly cemetery, Oil City, beside his wife, Beverly. Friends gathered with the family on Tuesday, June 8 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Henrys memory have suggested to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Survivors include Henrys children: Roy and Patricia Seeley of Shepherd, Henry Charles and Cindy Seeley of Midland, and Marge Seeley of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and a sister, Viola Robinson of Midland County. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and brothers: Lou, Earl, Ray, Walter, and Frederick.
Paul W. Marsh
March 5, 1925 -- June 5, 2010
Paul Windle Marsh, age 85, of Newberry, Michigan, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. Paul was born on March 5, 1925 in Keaton, Kentucky, the son of Hubert W. and Malta Cantrell Marsh.
A celebration of Pauls life was held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor James Turner of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Memorial Gardens next to his wife after the service at the funeral home. Military Honors were conducted at the graveside by the VFW Post 3033 and the American Legion Post 110. The family gathered with friends on Thursday, June 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
Paul was a teacher of science and physical education. He taught in California and in the Mt. Pleasant Schools for 18 years. He married
Grace Louise March who preceded him in death on May 17, 2008. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church Christian Fellowship and a life member of the VFW Borley-Hanel Post 3033 in Mt. Pleasant. Paul was a veteran of the Army during WWII, serving as a corporal in the Pacific Theater, and was involved with the battles on New Guinea and Luzon. He enjoyed golfing, working on his Studebaker truck, reading his bible, and walking his cat, Cat, on a leash.
Paul is survived by his three children, Robert Marsh of Bend, OR, Toni Marsh of Newberry, and Jay Marsh of Mariposa, CA; and eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a granddaughter, Brittany Marsh.
Sedena M. McReavy
November 16, 1919 - June 1, 2010
Sedena M. McReavy, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on June 1, 2010 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Sedena was born on November 16, 1919 in Isabella County, the daughter of Frank and Anna Billington Howay.
Funeral services for Sedena were held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Gordon Rydman of the Central Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed the service at Memorial Gardens. The family greeted friends at Helms Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility, the Isabella County Commission on Aging or to a charity of the donors choice.
Sedena was a lifetime resident of the area and married
Thomas Earl McReavy in Bay City, Michigan. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church and was employed at Ferro Stamping for a few years. She loved her trips to Alabama visiting her family and babysitting. Sedena was a wonderful cook and her grandchildren remarked about the cookies she would send to them.
Sedena was survived by her daughter, Wilma M. Canterbury of Vernon, Alabama; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Gustavsen of Mississippi, Brenda Merchant, Robert Canterbury, and Linda Kelly, all of Alabama; eleven great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; also two sisters, Ruth Rock of Mt. Pleasant and Catherine Tiedeman of Clare, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Roger; a granddaughter, Margaret Ann; a son-in-law, Lorenze Sam Canterbury; two sisters, Annabelle Fischer and Eleanor Feltman; and five brothers, Earl, George, Lyle, Charles, and Russell Howay.
The family extended a special thanks to her niece, Pauline Fischer and the caregivers and staff at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility for the love and attention these past three years.

Ronan Jay Pulver, stillborn infant son of Mark and Jennifer Pulver, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Ronan is survived by his parents of Lansing, Michigan.
Deanna I. Howe
August 20, 1940 -- May 26, 2010
Deanna I. Howe, age 69, of Remus, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Woodland Hospice House near Mt. Pleasant. Deanna was born on August 20, 1940 in Broomfield Township, Isabella County, Michigan, the daughter of Richard Gerald and Viola Priscilla (Heckert) Dean. She married
Joseph Clarence Howe on July 10, 1965 in Holt, Michigan.
Deanna was a member of the Millbrook Church of God. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, playing bingo, and enjoyed flowers. Deanna was employed as a hostess for Burger King for almost twenty years. She was a lifetime area resident.
Survivors include her husband, Joe, daughters: JoDee (Germain) Hawver of Mt. Pleasant, and Heidi Howe and her friend, Henry Bretthauer of Sheridan, Wyoming; eight grandchildren; three brothers: Ben Dean, Chuck Dean, and Richard Dean; sister, Carolyn Thomas; and a special bingo friend, Pat Sawyer of Blanchard, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Dean.
In following Deannas wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the needs of the family, or to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.
Lois Moore Kabbe
July 4, 1918 -- May 23, 2010
Lois Moore Kabbe passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant with family at her side.
Lois was born July 4, 1918 on a homestead in eastern Montana, the daughter of Evaleana Cole and Herman Moore. She married
Frederick Carl Kabbe on July 6, 1939. She was a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area for more than fifty years.
Lois spent her adult life living a healthy lifestyle of organic food and regular exercise. With her family, she raised and preserved most of the food the family consumed. Her physical conditioning was such that in her late 50s she beat her middle son in a two mile foot race.
Sewing was a lifelong passion. As a child she sewed beautiful aprons, in her adult years she made many of her childrens clothes, in her later years she sewed quilts and did machine embroidery. She co-owned with her daughter-in-law Connie Kabbe (Bob) the Quilters Point quilt shop in Mt. Pleasant. She used a personal computer and computer driven embroidery machine which is amazing for a woman who used slate and chalk on her first day of school.
Lois was a graduate of Hart High School, Western Michigan University (BS), and Central Michigan University (MS). She taught science and math at five area high schools, retiring in 1971. She co-authored a college science text book with Fred that was used by several colleges for many years.
Lois other great passion was genealogy. She researched, collected, organized and shared masses of family history information. She and Fred spent months in Europe during retirement researching distant relatives. Unintentionally she and Fred became owners of the remaining real estate and personal records of the Aladdin Company based in Bay City. She thoroughly enjoyed researching the family history of the companys owners. She and Fred donated the business and personal records to the Clark Historical Library at Central Michigan University where the Aladdin Collection remains one of the Librarys most accessed archives.
Survivors include her children: Marilyn (Don) Moorman of Michigan, Carl Kabbe of South Carolina, Jon (Alie) Kabbe of Michigan, Jerry (Luda) Kabbe of Colorado, and Robert (Connie) Kabbe of Michigan; grandchildren: Laura (Sanjay) Bhat, Sharon Osborn, Cathy (Jeff) Nourie, Nancy (Mike) Nally, Jeff (Natalia) Kabbe, Shana Kabbe, Angela Kabbe, and Emily Kabbe; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and by Fred, her husband of 69 years.

She was an embroiderer of life, cloth, and great stories. She will be missed.
Sanford W. Eichhorn
May 15, 1927 -- May 19, 2010
Sanford Willilam Eichhorn, age 83, of Alma, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma. He was born on May 15, 1927 in Mesick, Michigan, the son of Ira Theodore and Ada Ardella (Wheat) Eichhorn.
Sanford was retired from the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center in 1989 after twenty-two years of service as a cook. He was a life member of the VFW Post in Howard City, Michigan. He also enjoyed dancing and hunting. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1952 to 1956, and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. He was a resident of Isabella County for most of his life.
Services celebrating Sanford's life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. John Boley of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Honor Guard services will take place following the committal service in Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may gather with the family on Friday, May 21 at the Heckman Funeral Home, 225 E. Edgerton Street, Howard City, Michigan from 1-3 p.m., and then at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Howard City VFW Post. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Sanford is survived by his three daughters: Debbie Eichhorn of Blanchard, Connie Eichhorn of Alma, and Candy and Rich Davidson of Alma, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, a son Mark Allen Eichhorn on July 21, 1992, a great great granddaughter, nine bothers: Lilford, Cletis
Gary W. Smith
June 25, 1941 -- May 17, 2010
Garry William Smith, age 69, of Weidman, Michigan passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. Garry was born on June 25, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the son of Harry and Arlene (Stahl) Smith. He married
the former Susan Bell on November 6, 1976 in Jackson, Michigan.
Garry spent his working career living in Lansing and DeWitt, Michigan while working as a mechanic for UPS for twenty eight years. He also lived in Detroit for a few years, and for many years in Weidman. Garry was a member of the UPS Old Timers Club, a former member of the Moose and Elks Lodges, and a former member of the Capital Area Corvette Club. He was a currently a member of the Coldwater Lake Property Owners Association and was the current Zone Director. He enjoyed fixing things with engines, especially lawn mowers. He also enjoyed hanging out on his porch and talking with people. Garry was a veteran of the US Army, serving January 1967 to December 1968.
A memorial service celebrating Garry's life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Wayne Stahl officiating. Friends will meet with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in Garry's memory may be made to Sparrow Home Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Garry is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Shane Smith and his girl friend, Misty Ackley of Weidman, and Danielle and James Ives of DeWitt; two grandchildren: Carter and Josie Ives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Terry.
