Mary Ann Dargitz
August 17, 1970 - January 7, 2010
Mary Ann Dargitz, age 39, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Mary was born August 17, 1970 to Dwight and Sharon Dargitz.
Mary enjoyed spending her time riding horses, camping, shopping, listening to her favorite music, going to the beach and sharing special moments with family and friends. She was excitedly awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild this summer, and proudly planning her son Jordons High School Graduation Open House for this summer as well.
A Memorial Service, in celebration of her life, was held Monday January 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Winn United Methodist Church in Winn, Michigan with Reverend Carol Trzeciak, a dear family friend, officiating.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Jordon Dargitz and Amber Dargitz, of Shepherd; her parents Dwight and Sharon Dargitz of Blanchard; her siblings, Doug and Marsha Dargitz of Sanford, Julie and Kevin Smith of Stanton, Debbie Walker of Edmore, Brian Dargitz of Edmore, and David Dargitz of Blanchard; her Fiancé Roger Peacock of Shepherd and his children, Leanne Lance and Chris VanSciver of Mt. Pleasant, Dawn and Robert Hughes of Mt. Pleasant, Heather and Richard Owens of Everett Pennsylvania, and Christoper and Annette Peacock of Mt. Pleasant; and ten grandchildren, and one due in July.
Rose Marie Worden
February 10, 1956 -- January 7, 2010
Rose Marie Worden, age 53, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Rose was born on February 10, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio. She was employed at Wendys for several years. She enjoyed reading, watching television, going out with friends, and spending time with her family. A memorial service be held at a later time.
Survivors include her children, Edith and Joseph Killingbeck of Blanchard, Chad Fox of Grand Junction, Colorado, and April Fox of Bronson, Michigan. Grandchildren, Ashley Killingbeck, Austin Yarborough, Derek Butler, and Alexandra Butler; a sister, Roberta and Gary Flick of North Port Florida. She was preceded in death by both parents.
Joseph Joey Romer
August 2, 1960 - December 31, 2009
Joseph Joey Lee Romer, age 49, of Mt. Morris, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. Joey was born on August 2, 1960, the son of Ardene Art and Doris (Collins) Romer. On December 30, 1991, he married
Bethany Stewart in Arkansas.
Joey was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, keno, and long car rides in the country. He lived in the Mt. Morris area most of his life.
Funeral services for Joey were held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Larry Nelson officiating. Following the funeral service, interment took place in Woodland cemetery, Rosebush, Michigan. Friends gathered with the family on Monday, January 4 from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joey is survived by his wife, Bethany; his children, James, Donny, Debra, and Jeannie; his parents, Ardene Art and Doris Romer of Gladwin, Michigan; several grandchildren; a brother, Frank and Shelly Romer of Mt. Morris; sisters, Rita and Jay Stambaugh of Beal City, and Joyce Ann Thompson of Mt. Pleasant; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joey was preceded in death by an aunt, Romona Baisch.
Virginia Wagner Fiscus
February 16, 1916 - December 31, 2009
Virginia Beatrice Carson Wagner Fiscus went to join her extended family on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant. Born February 16, 1916 in Preacher Hollow, West Virginia, to Walter and Bessie Carson. She married
Jess Wagner on April 3, 1934 and moved to Mt. Pleasant in the 1940s, where she was a homemaker. Virginia went to work for a local eye doctor and continued there until her retirement in 1978.
In 1981, she married
Chet Fiscus and then resided in Remus. She enjoyed bowling, cards, bingo, and all of her grandkids. Virginia is survived by a daughter Sharon and Lyle Olger of Remus, a son Jerry and Regi Wagner of Weidman, a daughter Pam and Steve Foster of Blanchard, and a son-in-law Jack Olger, of Texas; 17 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters; husbands, Jess and Chet; a son Jackie Wagner; a daughter, Marge Olger; and a granddaughter, Janice Olger White.
A celebration of Virginias life was held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. D. Charles Bellinger of the Remus Trinity Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment followed the funeral service in Memorial Gardens cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home on Monday, January 4 from 4-8 p.m. to meet with the family. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Tendercare in place of flowers. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.
David Harlan Current
July 26, 1941 - December 30, 2009
David Harlan Current, age 68, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at his home. David was born on July 26, 1941 in Connorsville, Indiana, the son of Harlan P. and Margaret R. (Risser) Current. On June 11, 1966, David married
Diane Heck in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
David moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1966 to join the faculty of Central Michigan University in the Physics Department. He was still actively teaching as Professor of Physics at the time of his death. He was a member of several professional organizations, but his greatest interest was in teaching students and in tracking his investments.
A memorial service celebrating Davids life was held on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton officiating. Friends gathered with the family on Sunday from 2:004:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions were suggested to Veterans Memorial Library. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
David is survived by his wife, Diane; two sons, Michael of Lacrosse, Wisconsin and Daniel of Shoreville, Minnesota; a sister, Mary Wilson; a brother, Steven (Diane) Current; and two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Curtiss Joseph William Wadle
Funeral services were held at Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant for the Curtiss Joseph William Wadle, the stillborn son of Jessica Wadle on Monday, January 4, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ron Ives of The Potters House Family Worship Center officiating. Interment followed at Chippewa Township cemetery. Memorial contributions were suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
Curtiss was survived by his mother, Jessica Wadle; two half sisters, Jenna Frazier and Heather Frazier; grandparents, Laurie Thrush, Kathy Curtiss, William and Melody Wadle, Dan Thrush, and Jenny Sheldon; great grandparents, Colene and Roy Buckner, Karen and Mike Walter, Alberta Wadle, Richard and Mona Curtiss, Phylis Wadle, Sharon Courter, and Shirley Davis; great great grandparents, Nancy Courter, Richard and Virginia Curtiss, Helen Davis, Aleitha Buckner; and several aunts and uncles including Aunt Danielle Thrush. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, William Wadle; a great aunt, Cindy Thrush; and great grandparents, Howard and Ethel Thrush, and William Davis.
Orval E. Grubb
May 17, 1919 - December 26, 2009
Orval Elmer Grubb, age 94, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant. Orval was born on May 17, 1915 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Amos Elmer and Dorothy Ella Brown Grubb.
Family graveside services were held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jason Leininger officiating. He was interred next to his wife Marie who preceded him in death in 1973.
Elmer worked for Total Petroleum for 47 ˝ years with his last position as an Oil Buyer. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He married
Marie Elizabeth Courtney in 1932 and she passed away in 1973. In 1973, he married
Clarice Newhall who passed away in 2001.
Elmer is survived by his son and daughter in law, Edward and Paula Grubb of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Mary McDonald of Wisconsin; and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shirley in 1992; three sisters, Pearl, Suzie, and Liddy; and a brother, Glen.
Donald L. Sehl
March 6, 1950 -- December 26, 2009
Donald Lee Sehl, age 59, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Donald was born on March 6, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the son of Gerald and Dorothy Phiel Sehl.
Private graveside services were held at Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. He was interred next to his father Gerald.
Donald was a lifetime resident of Mt. Pleasant and worked as a laborer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sandra B. Asch
April 19, 1949 -- December 25, 2009
Sandra Beth Asch, age 60, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 at her home under the care of Woodland Hospice. Sandra was born on April 10, 1949 in Midland, Michigan, the daughter of Fred Jr. and Jean Jacobs Asch.
A celebration of Sandras life were held at Helms Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ron Vredeveld of AIM officiating. Interment followed at Riverside cemetery.
Sandra was a participant of the Association of Interfaith Ministries for their entire 30 year history. She attended Mid Michigan Industries and was a very outgoing social and nice lady that was always smiling.
Sandra is survived by her sisters, Jennifer of California and Sharron of West Virginia and her brother Jim of California. Sandra will be missed by her CenCare family, Kevin, Jenny, Cindy, Cami, Rosemary and the wonderful staff at her home, the Shady Oaks AFC, Community Mental Health for Central Michigan and Lois Van Orden of Central Michigan Guardianship, Inc.
Lois L. Kaninsky
September 19, 1962 -- December 20. 2009
Lois Louise Kaninsky, age 47, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan was born on September 19, 1962. Jesus called Lois Louise Kaninsky home after a long battle on Sunday, December 20, 2009. Mama was surrounded by her two daughters and husband at home. Mama is now at rest and spends her days in peace breathing with sweet ease. We love you with all of our hearts. We will meet you soon! Love, Philip, Cassey, and Savannah.
She leaves behind husband Philip of twenty nine years, daughter Cassey and Mark Clemons, daughter Savannah and Aaron Kaninsky-Ross, granddaughter Kaleigh Clemons, mother Verna Allen, brother Francis Allen, sister Karen and Stephen Moore, brother Winne and Doris Markus, her mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Barbara Kaninsky, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and her father Homer Allen.
Friends celebrated Loiss life by joining with the family at a funeral service held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Pine Chapel in Blanchard with Rev. Daniel Stone officiating. Following the service, interment took place in Blanchard cemetery, next to the church. Friends gathered with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions were suggested to the family to assist with expenses. Envelopes were available at the church and at Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Rochelle A. Ramsey
September 17, 1952 -- December 19, 2009
Rochelle Ann Ramsey, age 57, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at her home in Barryton, Michigan. Rochelle was born on September 17, 1952 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Gondre P. and Frances L. Thorne Ramsey.
Family graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Mt. Hope cemetery in Lapeer, Michigan. Rochelle was a lifetime resident of the Mt. Pleasant area.
Rochelle is survived by her guardian, Sally Johnson of Lapeer and was preceded in death by her parents.
Bonnie Dolores Thompson
April 22, 1920 - December 16, 2009
Bonnie Dolores Thompson was born in Rosebush, Michigan on April 22, 1920. She was the daughter of Hugh D. Johnston and Minnie B. (Morrison) Johnston.
She was a long time resident of Mt. Pleasant and Prudenville, Michigan. She was a realtor for many years for State Wide before she and Arch Moore established Surplus, Inc. Bonnie was a respected and integral part of the Houghton Lake community.
Bonnie loved life and a good laugh! She especially enjoyed gardening, cooking, boating, hunting, and was the ultimate angler! Bonnie was a bright and beautiful lady who forever remained young. She always carried herself with a great sense of style. Bonnie was completely devoted to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Ethel Johnston, her husband, Charles E. Thompson, her brother, Harold Johnston and her brother, Wesley Johnston.
She is survived by Archie W. Moore; her daughter, Connie Thompson; her granddaughter, Channon (Dave) Arteman and great grandchildren, John and Jordan; her grandson, Chad (Heather) Jordan and great grandson, Max; sister in law, Gladys, nieces, nephews and cousins, and her life long friend, Marian MacDonnell.
The family has suggested memorials in Bonnie's memory be made to River House in Grayling or Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
