Sally J. Koefoed
September 4, 1952 -- October 15, 2008

Sally J. Koefoed, age 56, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at her home. Sally Jo Booth Koefoed was born September 4, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of George and Betty Koller Booth.
A service in celebration of Sallys life will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Church, 218 South Main Street in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Barry Flanders officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may greet the family at Grace Church on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm. Friends wishing to remember Sally with a memorial contribution are asked to consider a gift to Grace Church.
On May 4, 1977 Sally married Scot A. Koefoed in Bensonville, Illinois. For 20 years, she served in campus ministry along with Scott at Clemson University, Illinois State University, and Central Michigan University. They have been residents of Mt. Pleasant for the last 20 years. Sally was a homemaker for most of her married life. In recent years, she also worked for Listening Ear as a Direct Care Worker in Home Health Care with disabled adults. Sally was a member of Grace Church since its inception. She volunteered as a chaplain at Central Michigan Community Hospital
Sally is survived by her husband, Scott of Mt. Pleasant; four children, Johathan, Daniel, Rebekah, and Joanna; her mother, Betty R. Booth of Schiller Park, IL; and two sisters, Ginny Warren of Zion, IL and Peggy Clore of St. Joseph, MI. She was preceded in death by her father, George W. Booth.

Levi J. Jeppensen
February 24, 1922 - October 5, 2008

Levi J. Jeppesen, age 86, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Tendercare-Mt. Pleasant. Lee was born on Friday, February 24, 1922 in Morley, Michigan, the son of Levi and Nellie Katherine (Carnal) Jeppesen. On March 21, 1945, Lee married the former Phyllis Irene Clarke in Crystal, Michigan.
A service in celebration of Lees life was held on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor John Boley officiating. Following a funeral luncheon, a graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. at Hillside cemetery, Entrican, Michigan. The family gathered with friends on Thursday, October 9 from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home and on Friday, October 10 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Friends wishing to remember Lee with a memorial contribution, were asked to consider the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes were available at the church and Helms Funeral Home.
Lee was a member of the community for over 50 years. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club, where he was a Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Naval Pilot from February 4, 1943 until November 1945. He retired in 1972 as a Naval Commander with 30 years of service in the reserves. He flew his own plane for over 25 years. He was a Past Chairman of the Airport Advisory Board. One of his special joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors included his wife of sixty-three years, Phyllis; two sons, Gregory C. Jeppesen and his wife, Lisa Bernhardt of Orchard Lake, Michigan, and Richard Jeppesen of Portage, Michigan and his significant other, Diana Knight of Grand Rapids, Michigan; five grandchildren, Amanda, Nathan, Shane, Skylar, and Jesse; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gene D. Jeppesen.

Rose Ann Endres
September 17, 1933 -- October 4, 2008

Rose Ann Endres, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Hospice House, near Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Funeral services were held at Noon on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Ron Vredeveld of AIM officiating. Following the funeral service, interment took place in Riverside cemetery in Mt.Pleasant. The family gathered with friends on Thursday, October 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Memorials were suggested to Area 7 Special Olympics or to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes were available at Helms Funeral Home.
Rose Ann Endres was born on Sunday, September 17, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the daughter of William and Frances (Leiferman) Endres. She was a lifelong resident of the Mt. Pleasant area.
Rose Ann worked at Mid Michigan Industries and the Holiday Inn. She participated in Special Olympics and loved to dance, bowl, and do jigsaw puzzles. Rose Ann had a keen memory and a quick sense of humor. She loved to be with people and never forgot a face.
Rose Ann is survived by her niece, Sandi Hasbany; a nephew and his wife, Reg and Jana Ervin; a grand niece, Brooke Hasbany; a grand nephew, Michael Ervin; and many cousins and friends in the area. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Annabelle and George Ervin; her sister, Betty Jean Carroll; and her grand niece, Meagan Ervin.
A special thanks to Beret, Nancy, and the entire staff of McBride House #1; Rosemary at CMH; everyone at Hospice House; and Rev. Ron Vredeveld of AIM.

Helen Catherine Breidenstein Sole
May 10, 1916 - September 27, 2008

Helen Catherine Breindenstein Sole, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Hospice of Central Michigans Hospice House near Mt. Pleasant.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. In following with Helens wishes, cremation has taken place with a private interment for the family of the cremated remains in Calvary cemetery, next to her husband, Robert.
Friends desiring to make a memorial in Helens memory, have been asked to consider Hospice of Central Michigan, or Maplewood Assisted Living of Mt. Pleasant. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.
Helen was born on Wednesday, May 10, 1916 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Naumes) Breidenstein. On May 12, 1942, she married Robert E. Sole in Mt. Pleasant. Robert preceded Helen in death on October 18, 1990. She was a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for over thirty years in Cadillac, Michigan, Missouri, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, Sacred Heart Academy, and Ganiard Elementary School. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Mt. Pleasant Womens Club, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Patti) of Mt. Pleasant, and Robert Jr. of California; granddaughters, Stephanie (Chris) Pursino of Omaha, Nebraska, Jennifer Sole of Woodland Hills, California; a brother Gene (Ruth) Breidenstein of Lakeland, Florida, and numerous nieces and newphews.

Gwendolyn Deloris Dean
August 7, 1929 - September 22, 2008

Gwendolyn Deloris Dean, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Tendercare-Mt. Pleasant. She was born on Wednesday, August 7, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Nella F. (Rickles) Hoag. She married Benton Dean on August 29, 1964 in Nevada.
In following Gwens wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment of the cremated remains will take place in Broomfield Township cemetery at a later date.
Gwen was a member of the Mormon Church. She enjoyed traveling, and had been to the lower 48 states. She also enjoyed gardening, light houses, and visiting with her family. She is survived by her husband, Benton, and a son Tom, along with one brother, and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Arthur Perry Jackson
April 20, 1981 - September 12, 2008

Arthur Perry Jackson, age 27, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 the result of an automobile accident near Mt. Pleasant. Arthur was born on Monday, April 20, 1981, the son of the son of Gordon and Beverly (Brailey) Jackson, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Friends and relatives are asked to dress casual. Following the funeral service, interment will take place in Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The family will gather with friends on Monday, September 15 from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 pm at Helms Funeral Home. A Drum Honor Service will be held at 7 pm by the Krooked Lake drummers. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the needs of the family.
Arthur moved back to Mt. Pleasant three weeks ago from Jonesville, Virginia. He also lived in Pennsylvania for several years. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation. He enjoyed bead working and working with leather.
Arthur is survived by his mother, Beverly; sisters and brothers, Bonnie (Bill Loonsfoot) Jackson of Weidman, Elizabeth (Shane Robert) Jackson, Janet (Joe Waldorf) Jackson, Carolyn (Joshua Gardner ) Jackson both of Mt. Pleasant, Gordon Jackson, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Terry (Athena) Jackson and Harry Jackson, both of Weidman; nieces, Katherine, Nichole, and Abagail Jackson, Janice and McKenzie Gardner, and Isabella Jackson, nephew, Nathaniel Houghton and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Sr., in 2004; nephews, David Kinney and Shane Lee Robert, Jr.

Sharon Rose Burden
September 23, 1940 - September 12, 2008

Sharon Rose Burden (Horton), age 67, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at her home. A private service will be held for the family at Woodland cemetery, Rosebush, Michigan.

Rosamond 'Rose' E. Silvers
March 10, 1915 - August 29, 2008

Rosamond Rose E. Silvers, age 93, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 7 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jason Leininger of the Central Michigan Free Methodist Church officiating. Friends gathered with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Graveside services took place on Wednesday, September 3 at 2 p.m. at Floral Lawn cemetery, Marshall, Michigan.
Memorial contributions were suggested to the Michigan Heart Association or to United Way of Isabella County. .
Rose was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1915 in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Mattie (Smith) Hodges. On May 3, 1975, Rose married Francis Don Silvers in Farwell, Michigan.
As a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area since the early 1960s, Rose was employed as a Head Cashier for Giantway for over 10 years. She also worked as a waitress for several restaurants in the Battle Creek area.
Rose and Don enjoyed going to dances in the surrounding towns. She enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting and knitting. Rose had a green thumb and enjoyed her gardening and growing plants and vegetables. She and Don knew all of the areas back roads because of their Sunday afternoon car rides, often stopping for an ice cream cone on the way home. She enjoyed feeding the wildlife that came to their feeders in their yard, including deer, squirrels, and a variety of birds.
Survivors included her husband, Don, a daughter, Jacqueline Post of Ohio and Florida; step children: Bill and Kathleen Silvers of Ithaca, Donald Basil Silvers of St. Louis, and Debra K. Goodbo of Elm Hall; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her son, William L. Brenner, a son-in-law Larry Post; two sisters, and two brothers.

Ricardo Leon Ablin, Sr.
June 1, 1939 - August 9, 2008

Ricardo Leon Ablin, Sr., age 69, of Lake Isabella, Michigan passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at his home with his family surrounding him.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Jim Breithaupt of the Barryton United Methodist Church officiating. In following Ricks wishes, cremation took place following the service. Friends gathered with the family on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Friends have been asked to consider the needs of the family with any memorial contributions in Ricks memory.
Ricardo was born on Thursday, June 1, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Juan Antonio and Thelma (Walters) Ablin. He was formerly married to Lila Sahguj. He was a resident of the area for the past 16 years.
Ricardo was employed for General Motors in Pontiac as an Automotive Engineer for 25 years, and then for the Truck and Coach Division for 5 years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, serving as a private first class from 1957 to 1959, where he was a parachutist. He was a reservist for the Pontiac Police Department, serving as a K-9 officer. He enjoyed going for walks, taking his grandchildren different places, boat rides, painting pictures, playing euchre, going to the Soaring Eagle, and was an accomplished poker player, playing in many tournaments.
Survivors include his former wife, Lila Sahguj, his children: Jennifer and Dave Matthewson, Honi and Clinton Pelcher, Rick and Merle Ablin, Jeff and Kathy Ablin, John and Cheryl Ablin, Janice and Dan Paige, Lisa and Jason Johnson, adopted son, James Warner; grandchildren: Edgar Ablin, Kevin Henry and his fiancée Tarryne Flowers, Billie Paige, Sarah Aldossary, Jordan Aldossary, Angelique Ablin, David Ablin, John Ablin, Laela Matthewson, Eric Ablin, Juan Ablin, Antonio Ablin, Jessica Paige, Jarrad Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Ellen Vanderhoff, William Ablin, Jeffery Ablin, and Autum Ablin; three great grandchildren: Anthony Henry, Jordan Sutton, and Alexandra Ablin; a brother Juan Antonio Dallmen; and two sisters, Deloris Rice and Daisy Bradford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Bonifacio and Elsie (Peters) Ablin, and two sisters, Arlene and Margret.

Martha T. Hauck
March 31, 1911 - August 4, 2008

Martha T. Hauck, age 97, of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2008 in Westerville. Martha was born on Friday, March 31, 1911 in Westphalia, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Theresa (Thelen) Schafer. She married Joseph A. Hauck on June 29, 1935 in Westphalia. Joseph preceded Martha in death on January 15, 1983.
Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. Interment followed the ceremony at Calvary cemetery, beside her husband. Friends gathered with the family on Friday, August 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation continued on Saturday, August 9th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, Inc. or to the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Martha was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. She was a very active volunteer at the Isabella County Senior Center, doing a variety of jobs. She was also a long time volunteer at the Isabella Child Development Center Thrift Shop, where she was the manager on the days she volunteered. One of her proudest accomplishments was making beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also made lap quilts for shut-ins which were distributed by the Senior Center. Martha enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and was a dedicated Scrabble player, playing almost to the end of her life.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, both parents, a grandson, a son-in-law, and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children: Rona Cook of Marlton, New Jersey; Judie and Ed Rochon of Westerville, Ohio; and Fred and Maggie Hauck of Decatur, Alabama; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Annabelle Schafer; and many nieces and nephews.

Jane McNamara
Dec. 5, 1913 - July 21, 2008

Jane McNamara was born on Tuesday, December 5, 1913 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and died on Monday, July 21, 2008 at her home. Cremation has taken place. No services are planned.
She came to Central Michigan College of Education to teach in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department in the fall of 1941, and retired in 1970.
Academic degrees were received from the University of Pittsburgh, Bachelor of Science; Columbia University, New York, Master of Arts; and New York University, post-graduate work. In addition, she enjoyed private studio dance instruction in Modern Dance with artists Martha Graham, Hanya Holm, Doris Humphrey and others.
Her membership in national honoraries included Mortar Board and Delta Psi Kappa and in social sorority, Delta Zeta. She was selected to the Hall of Fame of the University of Pittsburgh and Central Michigan University. Before retirement, Jane received the Honor Award for outstanding service from the Michigan Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Her teaching experience, prior to CMU included Pittsburgh Public Schools and Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Summers were spent on Walloon Lake where with Louise Williams, she owned and co-directed a summer educational camp. The camp, from 1947 to 1967, was operated as a family resort.
Volunteer work included the American Red Cross as Isabella County Chairman for First Aid, teacher for Michigan Adult Literacy and in the gift shop for Central Michigan Community Hospital were her community involvements. Playing tennis and golf, reading, gardening and world travel have been major interests in her life.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jane McNamara Endowed Scholarship Fund at Central Michigan University. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.
