William B. Zileski
January 2, 1933 - September 24, 2006
William B. Zileski, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at his sons home near Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 1 p.m. Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor James Turner of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow the funeral at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, September 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to Mid-Michigan Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.
Bill was born on Monday, January 2, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Peter and Mary (Gencharic) Zileski. On July 2, 1955, he married
Carol Friesner in Clare, Michigan. He lived in the Mt. Pleasant area all of his life. Bill was employed as the meat manager for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from August 4, 1950 until his discharge on August 26, 1952, serving in France. He was a member of The First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge, and the Model A Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and loved being with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, and two sons, Patrick and Jan Zileski of Midland, and David Zileski and his fiancée Pam Keehbach of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren: Amanda, Brandon, Brooke, and Jordyn Zileski, and Mike and Kristen Haksin; two brothers and their wives: Nick and Mary, and Pete and Joyce; two sisters: Helen and Mary; and a sister-in-law, Kay Steinke.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, William John Zileski on May 17, 2003; and three brothers: Pat, Jack, and Ray.
Richard Anthony Tilmann, Jr.
September 18, 1943 - February 12, 2007
Richard Anthony Tilmann, Jr., age 63, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007 in Mt. Pleasant.
A celebration of Richards life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Ziibiwing Cultural Center, 6650 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, (phone 989-775-4750) beginning with hors doeuvres and refreshments served at a reception from 5-6 p.m., followed by a tribute to Richards life, with a dinner for friends and relatives following the tribute.
Friends wishing to remember Richard with a memorial contribution have been asked to consider Hospice of Central Michigan or HATS (Humane Animal Treatment Society). Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Richard was born on Saturday, September 18, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of Richard Anthony and Dorothy Alice (Kroll) Tilmann. He married
Catherine A. (Habes) Ford on July 27, 1996 in Mt. Pleasant. Richard was a resident of the area since 1967. A man of many talents, Richard retired from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe where he was employed for 15 years, retiring as the Business Development Director. He taught at the college level at Northwood Institute and at Central Michigan University in the IT Department. Richard was likely the first person in Mt. Pleasant to own a personal computer. He enjoyed playing with the many computers he had at home. He enjoyed working with Linux, and wrote his own computer language called Data Basic, and owned and operated a company in downtown Mt. Pleasant called Data Basic. When he taught computer classes at CMU, he was on the leading edge of computer technology. Richard enjoyed science fiction, painting, playing poker, and had continually evolving interests and hobbies. He was a very eclectic man.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; a daughter Gwynn Stangle Tilmann and her fiancé Bradley Holley of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Dorothy Tilmann of Elkhart, Indiana; three brothers, Barry and Marci Tilmann of Safety Harbor, Florida, Steve Tilmann and his wife Adrian Bass of Charlotte, Michigan, and Doug and Betty Tilmann of Elkhart, Indiana; sister, Sherry and (James) Hood of Jackson, Michigan; brother-in-law, Bob and Cathy Habes of St. Charles, Illinois, and John J. Habes and Kathy Buckland of Glenview, Illinois, his dear and trusted friend, Sharon Tilmann of Mt. Pleasant, and extended family, Dave, Patty, Vicki, and Stephen Krcmarik and Loretta Judge Ruby, all of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard (Dick) Tilmann.
Glenn D. Scott

Glenn D. Scott, age 98, of Alma, Michigan, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Friday February 9, 2007 at the Masonic Pathways of Alma, Michigan
Funeral services were held on Tuesday February 13, 2007 at 1 p.m. from the First Church of the Nazarene in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. John OBrecht officiating. Interment followed in Union cemetery, Winn, Michigan, beside his wife.
Friends gathered with the family on Monday, February 12 from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, February 13 from 12 noon until service time.
Memorial contributions were suggested to the First Church of the Nazarene or Community Cancer Services in Glenns memory. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Glenn was born on Thursday, May 28, 1908 in Weidman, Michigan the son of Adam D. and Winnifred (Drallette) Scott. He married
Beulah Lint in Edmore, Michigan April 6, 1935. She preceded him in death November 26, 1990. Glenn was a resident of Isabella County most of his life, moving to Alma in 1997. He managed a hardware store in Weidman from 1930-1945. Glenn & Beulah started a farm equipment store in Mt. Pleasant in 1935 and a hardware store in 1939. They sold the farm equipment store in 1953. In 1959 they purchased Mt. Pleasant Hardware and Furniture and sold it and retired in 1970. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his daughter Rita (Mel) Laska of Williamsburg, VA, a grandson Lee Laska of Williamsburg, VA, two granddaughters Andrea Laska Tsueda of Louisville, KY and Kara Jean Ingram of Chicago, IL, three great grandchildren Jace Abbott Laska, Kayleigh Jeanette Laska and Katelyn Marie Tsueda. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah Lint Scott, daughter Jeanette Scott Ingram and sister Geneieve Gingery.
Pauline P. Nixon
August 1, 1907 - February 8, 2007
Pauline P. Nixon, age 99, of Durand, Michigan, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Durand Convalescent Center, Durand, Michigan. Pauline was born on Thursday, August 1, 1907 in Evart, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Roe and Lillian (Armstrong) Huffman. In 1925, she married
Jacob Nixon in Mt. Pleasant. Jacob preceded Pauline in death in 1984.
Pauline was a member of the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant, where she was very active in church activities and with the womens circles at the church. She was a resident of Mt. Pleasant most of her life, moving to Durand in 2001.
Survivors include her three children, Norman and Shirley Nixon of Yuma, Arizona, Gerlene Selix of Madison Heights, Michigan, and Joyce Nixon of Cheraw, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; a daughter, Bertina in 1933; her brother, George Huffman in 2001; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 12, 2007 from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mr. Jeff Gritton of the First Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in Riverside cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, beside her husband, Jacob. The family gathered with friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 11 from 2-4 and again on Monday, February 12 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions were suggested to the First Church of Christ in Paulines memory.
Edith Mae Bushong Koval McPhall
May 10, 1930 - January 22, 2007
Edith Mae Bushong Koval McPhall, age 76, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, found peace on Monday, January 22, 2007, and has gone to celebrate life with her family who have gone before her to light her path, her husbands, John J. Koval and Otis L. McPhall, parents, Harvey and Edith (McClain) Bushong, brothers, Elmer, Burton, Lloyd, Donnie, and Earl, and sisters, Marvel, Gladys, and Marie.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Dr. Joseph Frankenfield officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery, Mt. Pleasant beside her husband.
Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, January 24 from 2-4 and 6-8 and on Thursday, January 25 from 9 a.m. until time of the service.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the needs of the family. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.
Edith was born on Saturday, May 10, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the daughter of Harvey and Edith (McClain) Bushong. She was a life long Mt. Pleasant resident. Edith was a home maker who belonged to the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge, and the Black Creek Conservation Club. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, and especially watching her children and grandchildren with their activities.
She is survived by her four children, Benita and the late Roger Host of Mt. Pleasant, Rick Koval of Shepherd, Brenda and Ken Bullard of Mt. Pleasant, and Cristy and Jerad Hart of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Robin Bullard, David and Jennifer Bullard, Jammie and Jamie Gulick, Derrick Andress, Kyler McPhall, Brendan Hart, Riki and Justin Jordan, and Tony Koval; great grandchildren: Conner and Cameron Gulick and Devon and Khaila Bullard.
As you sit upon your angels wing, remember you were loved and will be missed dearly. Good bye, Mom.
Cindy Mae Thrush

Cindy Mae Thrush, age 30, of Winn, Michigan passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2007 surrounded by her family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer, at her home in Winn
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Helms Funeral Home, with Joseph Frankenfield officiating. Interment will follow in Broomfield Township cemetery, beside her parents.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the needs of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Cindy was born on February 29, 1976 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Howard Thrush, Jr. and Ethel (Seymour) Thrush.
Cindy attended Shepherd public schools. Cindy lit up a room when she walked in just with her smile. She enjoyed puzzles reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Cindy is survived by a brother Daniel Thrush of Winn, and one sister, Michelle (Thomas) Baker of Winn. She is also survived by three nieces: Jessica Wadle, Danielle Thrush both of Mt. Pleasant and Tiffany Baker of Winn; two nephews, Jim and Thomas Baker both of Winn, along with many extended family and friends and her dogs Squirt and Queenie.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Howard in 1986 and Ethel in 1994.
A very special thank you to Cindys friend Lucy who helped take care of her and to Hospice of Central Michigan.

Harry M. Kornexl, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on January 18, 2007 at The Wooden Rocker Mt. Pleasant.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday January 22, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Thomas McNamara officiating. Interment will take place at Calvary cemetery Mt. Pleasant.
Friends may gather with the family at Helms Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant, on Saturday January 20, 2007 from 6-8 PM, and Sunday January 21 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Vigil service at 7 PM and Monday January 22 from 9 AM until time of service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was born on June 16, 1927 in Beal City, Michigan the son of Mathias & Anna (Hartel) Kornexl. He married
Rose Nartker Nov. 6, 1948 in Shepherd, Michigan. He was a life long residence of Isabella County. Harry was a press operator and repair engineer for Ferro Mfg. Mt. Pleasant, MI. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge of Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed his grandchildren and their activities, fishing and traveling.
Harry is survived by his wife Rose, two sons Brian (Sue) Kornexl of Huntington, Indiana, Dale (Maryann) Kornexl of Shepherd, two daughters Brenda (William) Lipar of Lake Isabella, Sheila (Michael) of Shepherd; eleven grandchildren, two sisters Rose Lane of Florida, Shirley (Don) Rhead of Drummond Island, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by four brothers Andrew, Edward, John and Matt Kornexl and two sisters Anna Kornexl, and Agnes Giddings.
Arthur John Norton
July 30, 1929 - January 15, 2007
Arthur John Norton, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 12 noon from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mr. Jerry Sill officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will take place in Memorial Gardens and at his hunting cabin in the Upper Peninsula.
Friends may gather with the family on Friday, January 19 from 10 a.m. until service time at the Helms Funeral Home.
Arthur was born on Tuesday, July 30, 1929 in Niles, Michigan the son of Jason K. and Minnie (Harper) Norton. He married
Elizabeth (Betty) Straka on January 29, 1962. He has been a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area for over 50 years. Art owned and operated Arts Garage for over 40 years working as a mechanic and painter. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. His true passion was deer hunting at his cabin in the Upper Peninsula, and also enjoyed fishing. He served in the US Air Force for a year and a half from 1948.
Arthur is survived by his children: Kathy (Ken) Priest of Shepherd, Mike Brumley of Mt. Pleasant, Arthur Norton, Jr. and his friend Marilyn Babrowski of Tampico, IL, Mary Jo Moyer and her friend Harold Boyd of Rock Island, IL, Linda and Duane Merritt of Dubuque, IA, Cathy and Dick Jones of Silvis, IL, Randy and Kelly Norton of Mt. Pleasant, and Charles and Abby Hanna of Rapid City, IL; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a brother: Arland Norton of Midland, MI and sisters, Mary and Bruce Tigner of Coleman, MI and Mrs. Sherman Griswold (Janet) of Midland, MI, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Martha Norton and second wife Betty Norton; and by his brothers: William Norton and James Norton.

Sandra was born on Monday, November, 22, 1943 the daughter of John F. and Evalyn (Edmonds) Pearsall. She worked as a Caregiver for ARC of Midland for nine years. Shge enjoyed sewing, knitting, arts & crafts. And was very talented with arts & crafts
Sandra is survived by her children: Terresa (Michael) Bell of Clawson, MI, and Robert (Beckey) Maybee of Cadillac, MI; grandchildren: Molly Bell, Marcus Bell, Michael Bell, Jr., and Matthew Bell; sisters:Tomiko Pearshall of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Eleanor Quinlan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Virginia (Fred) McQuaid of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Racilla Rusty Ryon of Midland, MI.
